DH has far more flavor and flare, and generally is a lot more polished. Tech names are less generic, the map is vastly superior, the AI is somewhat better, and it also seems to be more optimized. AoD is closer to a large expansion pack of HoI2.
Arsenal of Democracy has more political simulation and sliders, and I remember the economy being a little more advanced than DH. Political changes take less time, but can have radical effects if you try to move too quickly. I tried to move further towards the USSR as Brazil, but this enraged people and right wing officers overthrew the government and established a junta. Not possible in DH. I also remember bombings and shellings being more in-depth, but the last time I played was years ago.
It... isn't? And DH eclipsed is entirely as the mainstay of playing HoI2 about a decade ago.
ugly map on a mappainter
AoD has best AI of any HoI game and best combat simulation. It's a pleasure to fight wars in. DH would be better if its combat simulation wasnt as shit as it is. Game feels absolutely off, even compared to vanilla HoI 2.
>AoD has the best AI, because it has, ok?
You're so fricking tiresome with this claim and absolutely nothing ever done to support it aside claiming so...
You want proper simulation of blitzkrieg doctrine? You want to employ a schwerpunkt and achieve massive encirclements? You want to re-enact the 1,5 year siege of Leningrad?
Frick you have doomstack space programs and event railroading instead. Have fun shift-clicking a million times if you want to select ten units in a stack of 40. How about producing a run of 10 ART detachments to add to divisions? Yeah you're going to have a lot of fun deploying those on the right units. Going back to HoI3 feels like such a breath of fresh air, the game has its problems but the UI is top notch.
HOI4 mods have decisively proven that people would rather have stupid event chains than enhancements to combat simulation. Hence, people get DH instead for Kaiserreddit.
Where can you even download AoD anymore (besides Steamcuck obviously)? I had so much fun playing this and Iron Cross over AoD. I forget which expansions and mods introduced what, but those battle icon notifiers replacing the popups were fantastic, the casualty counts were comfy, and I remember one game (might have been Armageddon) introduced a last stand button that forbade your units from retreating. They would take hella casualties and it was great for roleplaying.
>AoD is the definitive HoI experience >nugays start with DH because muh kaiserreich >they try AoD after a while >get absolutely destroyed because they can't meme the economy or political sliders as in DH >downvote in masse
>every oldgay knows AoD is better >every single time an AoD thread comes a bunch of DH shills come out and spam about how great DH is with mods and try to make sure nobody tries AoD at all >"why would you ever try AoD? Just play DH as we told you to do as this is The Definitive HoI Experience And Nothing Else Comes Close"
always doing the same shit, btw AoD is better in warfare too

Pretty much: you can kill frenchmen. >It bussin frfr on god
Send the french to meet their god.
Bussin = Send/go
frfr = french french, not aka Black folks and algerians.
on god = to god.
Never played. Compare/contrast it to DH please?

Do you have any personal examples of the AI outperforming DH's or 3's? It's very hard to find accounts of Arsenal of Democracy.

AOD has a much better supply system (that tanks your CPU lol)
Got superseded by DH, which probably has more first time players too.
It is by me. DH map is nice but AoD wins by having by far the best combat simulation and AI
>German-Soviet border is LITERALLY 5 regions
Oh hoi2 kids… I’ll stop myself. It’s best to go easy on the “simple” kids that grew up eating glue in elementary school

Ftfy
Because that's all the game have proven.

>the casualty counts were comfy
>our division defeated the enemy division!
>we lost 3%, they lost 9%!
God it was fricking AWFUL before they added casualty counts
cs rin ru maybe?
i used to download it from Taringa (and their site clones), i don´t know if they still have download links

every single time with every single paradox game
As a HoI3gay, I don't play HoI for the in-depth economy simulation.

What makes it better in warfare, in your opinion?
how about some examples?
Hijacking this thread
As someone who loves HoI3 why is Darkest Hour better and worth trying
Pitch me your best sell of DH
It’s shit. Literally babies first strategy game. Easier than hoi4 to afk and win effortlessly
It bussin frfr on god
Can someone translate this subhuman's gibberish into something comprehensible?
i don't think it's possible
