Watched the first 6 episodes of BW and so far they’re not bad. Far from being rebooted back to square one, Ash beat Cilan and his brothers 2 out of 3 and already won his first badge. The mons are cute and Iris is condescending, but so was Misty. Only thing I don’t like is the overdone TRio subplot.

BW takes a ton of shit. But outside of Kanto and Orange, it is probably the best paced series.
There’s like, 6 fricking tournaments in it or something. It can be a bit grating because of that. Getting rid of Brock, breaking the trend of having the female protagonist be a character (and using Iris, who was pretty grating instead), and having probably the worst Ash all really fricked up people’s view on it.
Heavily disagree with how poorly the ending part of the series was handled.
They killed the series and everything got rushed out with no actual wrap-ups. Rip Burgundy having any sort of conclusion as a character
N too got the shaft because we can't have someone else who understands Pokemon like Ash stand out.
The tournaments were one of the few things people actually liked.
Personally, I liked the tournaments. Much more interesting than episodes where Ash and company come across some CotD that we'll never see again and solve their trouble.
Also, Brock was beyond stale at that point. Cilan was such a refreshing breath of fresh air.
Unfortunately, the tournaments and Cilan are about the only really high points of BW, imo. Everything else is either mid or just downright poorly executed. Aside from the mini story arc where Meowth briefly "leaves" TR.

Wait until you reach episode 22. The Team Rocket subplot was meant to be a buildup for episodes 23 and 24 where they face off against Team Plasma, but to avoid controversy with recent events at the time, was skipped, eventually never aired, and retconned out. That's not even mentioning what happens later with the Unova League as to why fans hate it.
What else
EVERYTHING (floor, buildings, etc) is full of fricking squares EVERYWHERE. Once you notice it, you will go insane how ugly and cheap it looks. The anime went to its lowest point during Best Wishes due to low effort (bad writing, bad plot, bad cast).
The Bianca subplot was pretty kino though. It felt like a reversed version of Brock's story...it would have been really kino if Brock met Bianca in one of those extra OVAs, I think Bianca would unironically be the best partner for him (both age wise and in terms of overall personality), they're both "spergy"&kintelligent enough to keep each other entertained and not annoy each other

There is no comparison. Ash and Misty's relationship was authentic and very fun, whereas the relationship with Iris had less flavor than a piece of cardboard.

Ash goes back to being a dumbass after growing a pair in DP and all the characters are annoying. What I can't understand is the hate for sun and moon, it's the most kino season and actually funny. I miss when pokemon could make me laugh outside of that and the first 2 seasons it kinda lost its soul.

Maybe in its own way but it fails to do so while being what people expected from the Pokémon anime. Same reason most cartoon spin-offs/reboots fail: the use the name to attract interest but do something too different and piss off fans of the original.
