You'll never get anything even 10% as exciting as your average 45 seconds of DS2 gameplay in any other souls game.
Your average souls fan doesn't care about any of this and just wants to get to the next bada bing wahooy anime boss, press the iframe button at the right time being the only gameplay, and watch youtube videos.
>this is an example for good gameplay >leaves out that it's the area right before the boss, and you have to do all of this for every boss run
atrocious game for atrocious people
God that looks so tactical. You really need to choose good options every time to survive. The tension blends naturally with the environment. Your build will DRASTICALLY change the way you encounter every single part of the game.
He's streaming more progress and it looks close to being finished, or at least being available as like an early access version. At least FOFG looks finished.
Because of this guy.
Not specifically because of the character or the fight, but just the significance of a DS game having some deeper themes rather than just "cycles LOL"
>DS2 brought that shit into the series..
What the frick are you talking about, that's literally the only theme in DS1. Either continue the age of gods by linking the fire, or put it out to start the age of man, which will lead into another age of gods again eventually.
DS2 had a lot of good ideas and attention to detail but the boss fights and combat were horrible and the story was a downgrade from what Miyazaki wrote. Its the worst in the series but if it were a standalone game it would be good.

why does this keep happening with every fricking series
DS2 gets a lot of these shitters because it's made up from people who missed out on the DeS and DS hype and wanted to be part of le funny memes when DS2 came out. Literally FOMO morons.
They wanted be a part of it so badly that they became fanatics preaching the gospel of this shitshow of a game whenever they can.
I played Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Dark Souls 3 when they came out and didn't play DS2 until 2020, but it's still my favourite game in the franchise.
>"I-It's the best one.. nobody agrees..."
The thing is tons of people love Dark Souls 2. It's the highest rated Dark Souls game on Metacritic. You homosexuals latched on to some YouTubers opinion and can't stop spouting it.
Yeah, it's actually enjoyable to play unlike the constant sweat fest that is Elden Ring, with every single boss just being the exact same fight where you're in a giant circular arena against an enemy that spazzes out with 17 hit combos and randomly hangs in the air mid jump and pauses attacks mid swing completely unnaturally just to frick you over.
DS2 has a lot of problems but Demon's through DS2 are the only Souls games I can endlessly replay without getting bored. DS3 is where I checked out, there just aren't enough variations in routes through the game for me.
It's weird how DS2 is completely forgotten bar a few very obscure references in DS3. I know the game wasn't as liked as the first but there was some good ideas there >Characters actively trying to break the dependence to the Flame >Lords Souls reincarnating over and over again (it was shit in DS2 because the bosses sucked but still)
>"DS2 had good ideas" >characters trying to cut themselves off from the thing that keeps them alive >lore approved boss recycling
please don't remind me
The Lord Souls reincarnating in DS2 sucked, though. It was purely pandering and served no unifying thematic purpose, which is what tied together DS1's bosses despite their obvious differences. The Witch of Izalith, Seath, the Four Kings, and even Nito were all dealing with life and death - the cycle of light and dark. The Witch of Izalith sought to create a second flame, Seath sought immortality for himself, and the Four Kings sought the abyss and boundless humanity as an alternative to the first flame altogether. Nito's the only one who doesn't adhere to this, although his motivation for participating in the war against the ancient dragons is that an age of many mortal beings is probably preferable to an age of immortal dragons for someone who's purpose is administering death. And so he has a vested interest in the (new) status quo.
You can't say the same for DS2's bosses. DS2 isn't about the fading of the first flame, it's about living with the curse. The one that makes the most sense is, ironically, the giant fricking spider, because she ate the duke who was probably experimenting with Tseldora's crystals (collected around the corpse of an ancient dragon) to break the curse. >The Lost Sinner
We know that she tried to stoke the flame of chaos, but there's no indication of how or why in the game. >The Old Iron King
Why does he have Gwyn's Lord Soul fragment? My best guess is that he's supposed to parallel Gwyn because if you think about it the progression from Undead Purgatory to Earthen Peak to Iron Keep, it's very similar to the one from Undead Asylum to Sen's Fortress to Anor Londo. But by all accounts Gwyn was great king who waged a justified war against an alien race, and the Old Iron King is basically just an butthole. Also the Undead Asylum was filled with other regions' undead, because Lordran was a lost cause. So there's no real reason for this. >The Rotten

When I've posted images of the gigantic square dead zones for both the movement and camera controls, DS2gays have unironically responded with "there's no issue" "lol you're just bad" and so on. DS2gays refuse to have any sort of reasonable discussion about the game they have decided to base their entire personality around.
My biggest issue with DaS2 was: >everything costs tons of stamina making the game slow as frick and forcing the player be extremely defensive >physical scaling is worse than elemental scaling so there's no reason to ever make melee only character. you can even buff elemental weapons so you aren't losing any dmg potential.
You can build and customize your character to where stamina isn't a problem. All the things you can do >use fast weapons that dont consume lots of stamina (powerstancing daggers and curved swords is great) but you probably fell for the mace meme >invest into endurance way more than you can in any other souls game to give yourself a huge stamina pool to play with >stamina regen speed scales with equip load so you can refill your stamina faster than any other souls game if you play light >combine with stamina regen rings and armor effects
But this takes some knowledge and planning and apparently the only gameplay should be hitting the iframe button at the right time and anything more is too complicated. Now every character and weapon in any souls game since has to be moron proof.
I like how you could influence multiple boss arenas in DS2 before fighting to scale challenge or use bonfire to fight boss again if you liked the fight. DS3 is such fricking failure for not improving on those ideas
I think more modern fromsoft games tend to forget the importance of a main hub area. Majula to this day is still the best. Then I would put the nexus from demon's Souls, then the Das1 Firelink shrine and The Hunter Dream from Bloodborne.
DaS3 had such a godawful main hub area. It's the most greyish and dark boring shit of the game. And I don't care if you think the Fire maiden is the best waifu, it's still awfull.

That's what they said about DS1 too, and that one was a great game.
if you can't beat the boss in like two runs just go to another area or give up, or use a skull to distract them
God that looks so tactical. You really need to choose good options every time to survive. The tension blends naturally with the environment. Your build will DRASTICALLY change the way you encounter every single part of the game.

Ah, it's DS2gay

a level where you have to bait isnt a good level

yeah that's good level design right?
Thats over simplifying it but I dont think getting ambushed is fair either.

holy frick dark souls 2 looks awful
Nailed it
Because of this guy.
Not specifically because of the character or the fight, but just the significance of a DS game having some deeper themes rather than just "cycles LOL"
Incredibly based.
His character is extremely well done. It's what solidified DS2 as the best one in the series. That and there's no home like Majula.
>cycles LOL
DS2 brought that shit into the series..
>DS2 brought that shit into the series..
What the frick are you talking about, that's literally the only theme in DS1. Either continue the age of gods by linking the fire, or put it out to start the age of man, which will lead into another age of gods again eventually.
DaS1 definitely has more themes besides which ending you choose
Nope. Prolong the age of fire or end it and let the dark age begin. No bullshit about cycles devaluing the whole thing.
Wow, so with that interpretation, DS1 doesn't actually have any themes and it's just a completely shallow narrative.
Amazing.
Kek, you better level up some int, cause that's a complete brainlet take
Present your argument.
>no cycles
>therefore no themes
How about you tell us your big brain reasoning, bud
>cycles

holy shit DS2 troony delusion is something else
why are you so obsessed with trannies? are you an egg by any chance?
want to tell us something?
>are you an egg
holy shit you are actually a troony that got triggered by "DS2 troony"? no way lmao
nah but it seems like you are 🙂
it's ok don't worry there are a lot of trannies in current year
then you should be ok with being a troony, troony

its not, never was, and never will be 🙂
It's up there for sure.

I didn't realise how cool the pristine royal soldier helm was until my recent playthrough early this year, and I've player the game like 17 times.
Falcon set is king.
I like how DS2 had the best ui and you could easily just look at your character and equipment and then for some moron reason they made it as clunky as possible making you push buttons and looking like shit at the same in every game afterward. I lost all respect for Miyazaki.
My favourite is when Bloodborne and Elden Ring brought back the jank of being kicked to the main menu when the internet connection falters.
Only souls game enemies can open doors and bash down walls

But enough about Bloodborne/DS3/Elden Ring fans.
I played Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Dark Souls 3 when they came out and didn't play DS2 until 2020, but it's still my favourite game in the franchise.
Same here, and I hate DS2 with a passion for being such a piece of shit game.
My favorite is Bloodborne followed by DS2 SotFS but I enjoy all of the soulsborne games. The preferences are mostly marginal.

Yeah, not a very convincing argument you have there buddy.

out of all souls titles, it has the smallest, but loudest fanbase. think hard about that one, anon.
its more a general observation, you homosexuals do this with every frenchise
>Kill all bow scaling
>Gives enemies input reading to make bows even worse
Why does Miyacoco hate bows builds so much?
Could they really not code it to where the enemy dodges when you shoot in their general direction? How difficult would something like that be?
>peak DS2 combat
>bowshitters nerfed by making the enemies literally rofl at your life
delicious salt
The enemies in this game seem so slow compared to Elden Ring.
That's because it knows what game it is and didn't put Bayonetta and Sekiro enemies into a game where you control like a Demons Souls character.

Hallway Souls 3
I love DS2 but I've only ever played SotFS, should I play the original version? If so, how does it run on Steam Deck if anyone knows?
DS3 will forever be dogshit because you didn't fight DS2 MC with all the Loed Souls and Crowns

I don't agree with you, but I can respect you since you put DS3 at the bottom where it belongs
As much as I dislike DS2, DS3 has aged worse. Not him, though.
I don't have a seething hatred for DS2. I enjoyed vanilla on reelase.
I did not enjoy playing SOTFS. I did beat it, but I felt frustrated through most of it. Frigid Outskirts can suck my nuts
you are brown and probably smelly as well
Comfy hub.
DS2 deserves a proper remake unlike Demon Souls
God DS2 was fricking garbage. When even the act of moving your character around feels like shit you know you're in for a bad time.
