In the 250 edition, you get a beacon you can equip that does 2 things. 1, it makes the AI enemies not shoot at you from 60 meters or further away. Which absolutely would have a major affect on PVP or gauging where real players could be.
The other thing the beacon does is lets you send out a ping to your friends list, and people can join mid session which fricks up the map distribution of players/PMC and also probably just lets cheaters sell a new service.
Some of the other stuff are just strong but not overtly more P2W than what the 150 edition already did >character skills start a little higher >1x2 pocket size, that the other edition can do a quest to unlock
They also showed their hand by revealing a "higher priority matchmaking" feature which means it probably already existed for streamers.
Its usable in the online PVP game, not exclusive to PVE/co-op mode. So yes you might think an area is clear because scav sniper isn't shooting, or scavs aren't aggrod to a direction. But in reality a player has that beacon and the AI won't shoot first at him

I'm a basic edition owner who only started playing last wipe. I uninstalled this wipe around level 32 to go do other stuff a bit before this whole thing happened. I have no reason to be angry. I never even wanted EoD.

Maybe because I've never tried to track or compete with the bleeding edge playerbase of a wipe I've never felt this. "Head start" seems like an insane desire to me. Other players are never a consideration. Guys will be powergaming into advanced gear like two days into a wipe so the progression of others isn't something I feel change over time too much. I just think of my own trajectory, and I love the early game. MP5 is my favourite weapon and I feel less silly using it when I only have like a dozen stronger options available rather than 200.
I don't consider the game competitive. To me it's a game about walking around and collecting stuff while in constant danger. If the base game was singleplayer and multiplayer was the additional buy-in I still wouldn't change. I feel like I'm actually in an extreme minority in that I like the base game and enjoy it all this way. Most tarkov fans seem to hate it and spend money to be done with it faster.

EOD was soft pay2win, like stashes in POE. AI scavs not shooting, people joining mid-raid for backup and being able to have magazines in your pockets is fricking real P2W. Add in they are showing they've had priority matchmaking all along and you know the game is fricked.
60 meters is a pretty substantial distance. Mid-raid backup will be hampered by availability of friends, their join times, and who knows how practical it is to set this thing off in a hurry. I see it rarely if ever impacting an ongoing fight. And pocket mags are likely a non-factor considering every serious player will have comfortable rig-spacing. What is your thinking? You're going to start losing fights you would have won because the guy could hold two more magazines? Most people carry like four at the most while rigs that can hold at least 8 are easily accessible.

i just think about it as some practice run. i do what i want, and im not competing with anybody. maybe someday ill do the hardcore run or something, but im not good at the game, so i do what i want to have fun
Don't worry, I asked because it genuinely confuses me, coming from enjoyment of roguelike permadeath. Even in something like Rimworld I loved starting with nothing and slowly building up. Back when I played online Tarkov, I would sometimes go in with just a pistol, and play it as if I didn't have the inventory other than what I can carry on me.

I think that is what got me started with those pistol runs. At some point I got accustomed to losing stuff and began enjoying the buildup of gear, slowly seeing my kit evolve with whatever I could find. At some point I completly stopped caring for trading items and began scavanging only for gear related equipment. Sometimes I would even sell my accumulated kit (so that I can use the funds for a geared run when I actually feel like it), and start over with nothing for the fun and challange of it.
I really think they should remove the scav timer, so that people have means of overcoming that gear fear.
Makes it feel like a mobile gacha, then again, there's plenty wrong with the direction it's headed.

i honestly dont care enough about the live version to want them to cater to me. for me, the entire idea is inherently flawed any way you look at it. with wipes, people just lose progress periodically. without wipes, people just never catch up or do anything after a while. i dont know what they should do to fix it, and i dont pretend to play enough to know. i'll just enjoy my little world where i'm in charge and whether i want a "wipe" or not, without bothering anybody
I'm not particularly surprised, without mod support it's a lot less appealing to consider buying vs. just installing SPT
I'm guessing BSG will try permanently taking it down within the next 6 months, maybe as an act of goodwill the way mods for the official PvE mode work will be close enough to SPT that people can easily port everything over, but I don't know how coding works so who knows
Because the people upset haven't touched grass in their entire life and are made someone is enjoying their different colored pixels or can spend money however they want and are made that you get stuff you can unlock in the game with little effort.
