Gen 4's remakes are better mechanically, better visually, better in terms of audio, better in terms of actual content, and this is objective fact. You can't name a single thing gen 2 does better, objectively. Even your own fricking image shows that Gen 2 has better atmosphere, the moon reflects in the pond, the sprites are actually distinguishable as to what they are instead of being generic ones used for several pokemon, and the map just looks better.

Also, frick off, it was one of the best features added because it made you feel like you were actually traveling with your favorite pokemon instead of just carrying around a bunch of empty husks without personalities. It let you ROLEPLAY in a ROLEPLAYING GAME.
The only good feature in HGSS was the Pokewalker which ended up being better than the actual game. The pickup ability is better gameplay than following Pokemon since they can find useful items. I know people enjoy following Pokemon, that's fine, just give me an option to turn it off so I can enjoy the game.
