Why is his game not as beloved anymore?

Even indie games older than his still get more discussion. Is the gameplay dated just like the era he's an ode to? Or is his fandom not autistic enough to spout how good his game is?

    >"it's like DuckTales meets MegaMan!"
    >There's an item that make you invincible which makes the game piss easy
    >they shilled him fricking everywhere, he even got in fricking smash ultimate
    >it's a bunch of Californian dev so obviously they put gender ideology bullshit in the game later

No? Also the base game is literally a "save the princess" type story while the Plague Knight DLC is about him finding the courage to date his crush

      >literal who indie shit that released 10 years ago
      >"b-but why isn't it talked about???"

      >shovel knight

It was only really notable for being the poster child of retro inspired indie games and Kickstarter success stories. The market has been flooded with games like it since then and it's gameplay and story are nothing special.

I had fun the first time but on replays I found it tedious. Some of the other campaigns helped mix it up a little bit I just found at it's core I was not having much fun after the first time. Not really sure why.

Because they should have made a sequel that copied the early 3d N64 style, but it's too late now and nobody cares anymore

It's good but has no replay value outside of extra campaigns. The level design too often boils down just Simon Says

It's just a regular competently done little sidescrolling adventure. It was good while it lasted but there isn't an open world, or bizarre lore, or crazy builds, or wild easter eggs, or any worthwhile drama, or anything else that can drive longterm discussion. You get the game, boot it up, play through it, have fun, and then move on.

Many NES platformers don't have any of those either and are still getting played regularly.

thank god it's forgotten. shovel knight is mediocre af and i'm tired of pretending it's not. also the main character has one of the dumbest designs i've ever seen.
a shovel? really? the way it's used in game, it's no different than a sword
    >BUT YOU CAN DIG UP DIRT WITH IT! WHICH YOU CAN'T DO WITH A SWORD
why not Black person? also, don't you have hands or feet? just kick the fricking dirt pile god dammit

Because "Sword Knight" doesn't have the same ring as "Shovel Knight"

there's simply nothing left to discuss.
also I think even the devs themselves got fricking sick of it by king knight.

people played it, finished it and moved on. It's a one and done game, there's nothing to talk about.

The silence might be because picrel turned out to be a total turd
And it's such a shame too because the level of attention to detail in this game is simply masterful. It's a true product of love and SOVL built with feet of clay, and if they didnt go after the roguelike meme crowd and just stuck to proer platformers, this thing could've easily made it big. But alas

It's got the sonic heroes affect, playing the same game 4 times got old. Granted there are differences but still, the fatigue kicked in

So, you never played the Specter or King Knight levels, I take it?

homie i just said there were differences. That still doesn't change the fact you were going through these levels again.
I think King actually had new content for levels so maybe not him but spectre just went through remixed versions of the same levels

No Specter and King's levels are all new you're thinking of Plague's campaign.
