Why is it always Western games that try to push the boundaries? Japan/Korea/China has never made and probably will never attempt to make something this ambitious ever.
Why is it always Western games that try to push the boundaries? Japan/Korea/China has never made and probably will never attempt to make something this ambitious ever.
how is overambitious space game pushing the boundaries? Western devs (specifically britbongs) have been making that slop for a long time and it's almost always bad
and yet the only games we get from Asia are crappy JRPGs and gachas.
I'm not even trying to rag on western devs particularly, I just think the space genre is moronic
people will always have unmeetable expectations for it and feature creep becomes such a huge issue. Bethesda of all people certainly is not gonna release something that differentiates themselves from slop like ED or NMS, it'll just be the same shit we've seen for almost 10 years with typical lowest common denominator bethesda RPG elements
and I should add:
Elite Dangerous which came out in 2014 and is basically in maintenance mode now looks miles better visually than anything that Bethesda has shown in any of their trailers and showcases. And it's worth making that comparison because that is very close to the style they are going for, just fricking grim
Elite Dangerous is all space
>Elite Dangerous which came out in 2014 and is basically in maintenance mode now looks miles better visually than anything that Bethesda has shown in any of their trailers and showcases.
Important distinction - Starfield appears to include actual gameplay as well.
>Starfield appears to include actual gameplay
Get your eyes checked.
You can't walk around in elite dangerous. I also don't get how people don't understand how much all the interactable items and npcs with physics hurts frame rates and graphics.
there's more depth in any random 15 minute span of gameplay in a Bethesda game than there is in the entirety of NMS. there's zero chance these games will be comparable in any sense except the fact they involve space travel.
>there's zero chance these games will be comparable in any sense except the fact they involve space travel
shoot laser to mine materials
scan all the flora, fauna, and minerals on a planet to unlock a reward
planets are randomly generated, but the structures placed on them are taken from a pool of handmade designs and placed randomly
you can pick up radiant missions such as "kill X amount of aggressive animals on Y planet"
research new blueprints and schematics
main quest is about collecting macguffins to uncover a galactic scale secret
upgrade your warp drive to travel to further and to higher level systems
build outposts using a bird's eye view camera
extract resources using your outposts
dogfight with randomly spawning pirates in space
land on space stations and walk around
pirate/outlaw themed space stations
randomly generated animals and plants
There is no chance that Bethesda will make such a grind borefest as NMS is.
Starfield will be a messy buggy mess, and even a mediocre game, but it will entertain and exploration will be decent, there will be some stakes in the game something Hello Games is incapable of implementing.
why do bethesda's weapons always look so fricking stupid
god damn it pisses me off so much
Like I'm doing any of that shit. Just waiting on mods to make my harem battlestar pirate ship crewed exclusively by carefully selected ethnonationalist catgirls as we cruise the central star systems plundering at will.
oh my god, it has generic RPG questing??????????
wow just hand it game of infinity right now then!
Nah there's not. Keep being delusional though.
>Bethesda of all people certainly is not gonna release something that differentiates themselves from slop like
The ship customizer video already puts them above anything else i know about in the genre
Shame starbase has paused development. The autism builder in there is a good concept
It's like you forget Nintendo games exist or Capcom, Kojima, etc. All their games are infinitely better than Western shit.
Bethesda games are just like Ubisoft games. Repetitive crap.
>Nintendo
Gimmicky video games for manchildren.
>Capcom
Only makes sequels/remakes. No original ideas in years.
>Kojima
Movie games.
Bro you are playing fantasy games made for teenagers. Consider playing actually well made old games or fricking reading a book like an adult.
What about dark souls, the nintendo games, grasshopper etc... all of those games are far more original than troony space game new vegas 3. Fact is after fallout 3 nv everything has been shit and will continue to be shit.
>british
>people
Bethesda just builds off of other peoples ideas as foundations.
Wrong game
You mean they built off no man's sky.
Are you moronic? Obsidian ripped off Fallout to make that game
When Todd dies and stops making games, the West will fall. There will be no hope left for you. Japan and China will make the good shit
>and China
nice joke
Honkai Star Rail is better than 95% of games this year
Why is that? It's just a simple TBRPG.
I've played a good new Chinese game this year (volcano princess) I've played good western games as well but nothing specifically american
It's a set of genetic traits much more common in Europeans (individuality, creativity, curiosity), further reinforced and amplified by the culture, and especially in the USA which acts as a genetic filter for people who prioritize adventure, newness and individuality over tribalism and conformity. In Asia and especially in China it's kind of the opposite.
It's not pushing any boundaries unless it's PlayStation exclusive.
America makes things
Japan makes things better
America aims to hit home runs while Japan is content with steady stream of singles.
What boundaries is Starfield pushing?
If you're gonna make a pic like this at least don't put shitty ubislop moviegames in it
elden ring push bonduaries too, but even i know what are they trying to do with starfield
>2080 = to a 6800xt
>dx12
>global ilumination
>3600 recommended
Now I know this game will run like ass when they have a copy pasted dll for lighting compatibility with DX12.
It's no wonder they failed to get more than 30fps on console when a basic engineer isnt there to just simple enable multilayered radiance caching, otherwise this game would easily run at 60fps.
This game is already a clusterfrick, sad really because it was looking decent outside the technical.
Im expecting a massive downgrade visually on release.
>smoke everywhere
>mist rolling off the mountains
>dynamic looking sky
I knew the bullshots were too good to be true, but damn I wanted to believe
>overpromised space game
>with half baked bethesda RPG elements
>pushing the boundaries
?
OP is already making another thread but I'd like this answered as well. There's nothing groundbreaking so far.
>procedurally generated 1000 planets that will all be as wide as an ocean, as shallow as a puddle type shit
>pushing boundaries
Not even, each planet will have specific landing zones you're limited to park at, and a small area around those zones to explore.
This will be shallow as a puddle and as wide as a pond.
>Not even, each planet will have specific landing zones you're limited to park at, and a small area around those zones to explore.
jesus christ that's even worse than ED which at least allows you to land wherever you fricking want on the barren nothing to do hellscape planets
He's full of shit, they mentioned being able to pick where you land on each planet in the reveal they did on sunday, which at the very least implies multiple landing points per planet, if not choosing coordinates
if you even have to mention "landing points" it's already worse than ED, which is sad because that game is shit
I think even Scam Shitizen allows you to land anywhere and that's not even a real game
You can land anywhere at all in star citizen and some planets/moons even have outposts to fuel up at or to get illegal drugs.
You should listen again and tell us exactly the timestamp where you can land anywhere and explore anywhere on the planets without limits.
Id appreciate the correction.
Todd already said you can land anywhere in the summer 2022 presentation. In addition you can wrap around the planet. The world is locally flat but tiles are generated around you which map to a sphere internally until you end up where you started.
well if todd said it it must be a lie
they said the entire planet is procedurally generated content-wise, meaning points of interest get shuffled every playthrough. There's a cursor on the planet so wither you can land anywhere, or it's limited to points of interest
?t=344
>You can choose a landing spot (pic related, you can choose freely where to land), or fast travel to known locations
Later you see the same thing on Jemison, with the Set Landing Target not being greyed out or anything meaning that even on the story planets, we'll be able to land outside of starports
?t=417
Looks like there will be multiple biomes per planet going by the "coniferous forest" and the very clearly icy poles with that industrial outpost location
Tears of the Kingdom is far superior than anything a Western developer has ever put out and far superior to Bethesda's broken crap.
Reminder: Bethesda has never made a good game.
have sex, incel
By and large Japan doss not have the technical prowess to make games of that scope, and they definitely aren't capable of making a Bethesda or Rockstar level game. They're more about sticking to a formula that works.
has part of an answer. Since the internet became a thing, one should always factor in the truth that japan's skillset, standards, and development tech is roughly a decade behind the west. PC having been such a niche market for them is likely the reason. Now that it's growing more, maybe they'll start to catch up.
That said, when large swathes of gaming wouldn't exist without games like Mario, Zelda, Gradius, Street Fighter(or karate champ if you're autisticly rooting it), and they push out completely original shit like Katamari with fair regularity, saying they never "push the boundries" and "never make or made anything ambitious as this" is disingeneous at best.
Uhhh… you never heard of Elden Ring, OP?
Have you heard of The Witcher? That's basically what ER is.
Is that the game that reads your inputs and even has early 2000s levels of input lag? Japanese are terrible at evolving.
I will never ever understand why bethesda games get sucked off so much
You are aware the entire asian gaming industry is based on reverse engineering western games right
Because only creative minds like Todd can make games like this
He and Bethesda are on another level like rockstar games
because all they care about is their shitty turn based RPGs and anime high school girls
>No alien wives
>Pushing boundaries
>Ambitious
No alien wife, no buy. Simple as.
there's def aliens
Yes but I want aliens that I can marry
Perhaps. However, I am not here to discuss "ifs." No alien wife, no buy. Simple as.
What a hill to die on. You wouldn't be so desperate for a pixel wife if you had a girlfriend.
The West is just ambitious in general why were Europeans the first to sail across the whole world and travel into space? Asia takes what the west invented and often refines or improves it at times but they're not trail blazers.
yeah but only counts for actual whites not mutts, stalker >>> bethesdashit
>not mutts
- Electricity
- Computer industry
- Internet
- Moon Landing, Hubble, JWST a bunch of other space stuff
kek europoors are so pathetic
Where mutts came from?
Wouldn't that make yuros mutts then?
Not if they are white
Electricity: Serbian
Computer Industry: English/Hungarian
Internet: I'll give you that
Moon landing: Faked / Bugtier
You guys are really good at fatmaxxing and troonymaxxing.
Oh also yeah forgot to mention:
- Cars
- Planes
- Telephone
- Film industry
- Videogames
we could go on but its easier to just laugh at coping euros
Cars: German
Planes: Yes
Telephone: Italian/French
Film: French
Videogames: English
You are like bugs taking credit for things you didn't do.
this is some massive cope
Says the person that can't do basic research, american education at it's finest.
The fact you called the moon landing a fake just proves it's all cope lol. Keep seething.
do what you people do best and dilate 🙂
Keep coping troony lol
>Stanley H. Biber (May 4, 1923 – January 16, 2006) was an American physician who was a pioneer in sex reassignment surgery, performing thousands of procedures during his long career.
LOL
You would know, your his #1 customer kek.

go buy a bigger dildo to dilate with or something
Gender reassignment surgery was invented in Germany.
Nada trannies already admitted recently that the moon was inside our atmosphere. They have to keep their lies in line with knowledge increasing. Space doesn't exist.
Japan and Korea try to innovate while China just copies everything
Like I said they often improve on things the west created first they rarely make a new innovative inventions that wasn't originally from the west.
Asians want a game that is purely mechanical. "Can you master mechanic x?" "Can you pull off combo y 64928 times in a row?". The setting/graphics are just a vehicle to deliver the underlying mechanics. Western games are about escapism and storytelling primarily.
I still don't see what they're doing differently than what they've already done in their previous games. Dog fights in space I guess? That's neat but we've had that forever. It's just gonna be your average bethesda RPG but with procedurally generated planets you will sometimes have to visit for radiant quests.
Whites innovate
Asians copy
Blacks ruin
The Japanese will put normalization of having sex with teens and adults, what western dev does this?
What exactly is boundary-pushing about an open world game with shitty Fallout 4 gameplay in the year 2023?
"Pushing the boundaries" is the marketing or only applies to graphics. Western audiences love them graphics. I'd argue japs push boundaries further gameplay wise then any western devs attempt
you westBlack folk can't even into mecha.
The West is kind of the epicenter of innovation in general. Even talent from overseas gets absorbed into the Western companies. Companies like Valve were formed from some of the most talented individuals in the world, flush with cash, just bumming around in the same neighborhood.
Nintendo is the most innovative games company out there
There's absolutely nothing ambitious about being poor man's Star Citizen. It doesn't even look better or more interesting than NMS.
No point talking about scam citizen until its an actual game
If BOTW and TOTK are considered actual games, then so is Star Citizen.
what exactly is ambitious about Starfield that other games havent attempted before? other than sucker people out of preorders
Exactly what boundaries is this pushing?
The boundaries of Todd's wallet
