Why is it physically impossible for Nintendo to make a proper fricking sequel?

Why is it physically impossible for Nintendo to make a proper fricking sequel? NO fricking FPS, NO 2.5 garbage, NO midget handheld crap.

      But that's Metroid 2

AM2R feels like an expanded version of the GBA games. Much snappier controls but it the drops atmospheric loneliness. It's great but the feeling is entirely different to a hypothetical Super Metroid 2 if it were the project's goal to maintain the feeling from Super Metroid. It's a very cohesive package, even the sloppy floaty controls contribute to the feeling of the game. I vastly prefer AM2R's controls but it makes you feel like an agile warrior as opposed to "spaceman on the moon with a gun".

No idea, but I'm sad that the Hispanic team is handling 2D Metroid now because Dread was nowhere close to as good as Super.

Face it, not even for just this game series, true classic 2d games are dead. All this bloated pixely shit we see all the time nowadays... clearly the limitations of the time are what made them great. Now they are all soulless no matter what. So this will never happen. This game was good though

Frick off. Gravity Circuit came out last year and it was a great Megaman X style game. Pizza Tower was huge as well.

I'm pretty sure that it's the philosophy of the company. Some people even said that they had this board on hanging on designers doors to never make the same twice.

In general it's true, the only ones that come to my mind are basically the same game are Splatoon and NSPB games.

If we're getting into aesthetics, the 2.5d shit isn't the problem. The complete lack of quality setpieces and garbage OST are much more to blame for it.

Story wise, there just... should hardly even be one to begin with, given the effort. I genuinely hate that Sakamoto has somehow managed to transform his unhealthy obsession with Samus, responsible for Other M, into what most people, for some reason, consider a positive trait in light of Dread. No, I really don't give a shit that a PNG from Samus Returns wants Samus' DNA. In fact, I don't care about the DNA bullshit at all actually. Oh, they're a badass Chozo? That's cool I guess. But that's the extent of it. The setting is complete dogshit and the characters are forgettable. If you REALLY want a focus on story, then why are we really expected to believe that the entire Federation would just forgive Samus off-screen after the ending of Fusion? Why couldn't Dread, the title people have been waiting for for so fricking long, have been the game where Sylux, a character known for hating the Federation and whose appearance has also been waited on for so long, show up at the time where it would make the most sense, finally fricking tying the Prime games back into mainline?

Come on, dude. I dislike Nintendo's constant decision to forsake hardware power for whatever gimmick they're currently obsessed with but, you're being incredibly hyperbolic and a simple google search ruins your argument. I hate the Switch. Hell, a part of me hates Nintendo despite how big of a role they played in my childhood. Loved the N64, loved the Gamecube, but I've been disappointed with them since the Wii onwards. But even I can accept that Dread is one of the better looking Metroids.

This anon I can get. Dread's OST was pretty weak and I share the sentiment that the Metroid universe could really use further exploration. Sylux is also my favourite hunter and I'd love to see him appear in another game or even serve as the main character or antagonist.

Dread is 2.5slop, every bit as bad as Other M, but this time they had a disney tier chokehold of public opinion to fellate it, and then everyone gets in line reddit style and it becomes an established point of record that it is amazing 10/10 greatest game ever made. Meanwhile there are us free thinking people who are saying, guys? this is actually complete trash.

Project Base is nice, it opens up the map up more, adds new shortcuts, it's still vanilla Super Metroid, so it's a great replay.
Hyper is a romhack that uses Project Base as the project's base, and then makes a new game out of it, really open, and non linear.
Super Metroid Subversion is the defacto romhack, it's very polished, and it passes completely as a sequel to the original Super Metroid, if it had come out on the SNES a year or two later on.
I will also give a shout to Anicent Chozo, it's a total remix of the original Super Metroid, basically the Master Quest if you understand the reference.

I'M SO CLOSE TO 100 PERCENTING ECHOES ON HYPERMODE AND I CANT FRICKING FIND THE LAST THREE MISSILE TANKS AAAAAAAA
On another note, I beat Spider Guardian without the Spring Ball like I said I would on my first try and it wasn't even hard. You literally just have to be patient and pay attention.

There's a missile pack in Torvus I frequently miss on the initial visit to the area even though it's just hidden in the room and doesn't require any new upgrades.

It's simply never in the cards. There wasn't even an official attempt to create a new Metroid during the N64 era despite rumors. Nintendo of Japan simply did not and does not care much for this and those responsible for it moved onto other pastures. You gotta take what you get and you gotta take it cautiously, but it's all you get.
