this but 3 with legacy combat btw
>rs3
Yeah, I'll never forgive them for turning Githix into an NFT and killing him
I was wondering if anyone would make that joke other than me
funny how they went from really simple clean designs for everything, to typical overdesigned fantasy slop. even the stories and such went that way, from pretty mundane little adventures to "epic" bullshit
The RS2 look is so timeless
In RS3 the graphics looked modern until they weren't anymore, they're dated as frick now
The original RS2 was timeless yes, but the proto RSHD shit OSRS does looks just as atrocious as RS3.
This. It reminded me of playmobil or lego or weapons and warriors castle i played with as a little kid in the 90s. That gave it a very homey feel that satisfied my weapons grade autism.
That image unlocked a deep memory within me, I remember that bit with the skeleton poking out on the right
I have no idea what RS3 goals are anymore. It’s aimless
what're OSRS goals?
>what're OSRS goals?
Try and keep the marketers paying for 13 different alt accounts to keep running their Ultimate hardcore Flourman Playthrough where they're only allowed food that is made with flour and they can't bank
>UNCLE ANDROSSSSSSS
Why did they kill him bros? Still never forgave Jagex for it.
Doesnt matter RS3 isnt canon
True and real.
I mean OSRS is adding while guthix sleeps, they will just tone down what people didn't like. So no adding gods, probably no sliske in the limelight, a better sequel to slug menace etc.
They've already stated that there won't be a 6th age, and none of the gods will ever be directly present in game.
WGS is gonna be huge though, and different from the RS3 quest.
>and different from the RS3 quest.
Will it be though? I mean Stone of Jas is in that rift minigame quest.
>'[T]hey have the power to change and the power to unchange what might have been and what has been[.]'
>'[T]he wheel still remains unbroken for now[.] It points to one end which is always present[.]'
>'[T]he wheel spins ticking like a clock pointing to time past and time future[.]'
Music legit sounds like indie/royalty free shit you'd hear in an hentai game.
They killed him because they thought gods were gonna make an entertaining story. In universe, he died because he felt he wasn't being balanced, but actually it was him being depressed and being like "welp guess the joker as a skeleton is a funnier guy to run things for a decade"
At first gaygex was exploring the idea of turning you, the player, a god and would even get a church you would level up and gain powers and shit. Then they changed it because who knows, the god thing was a bad idea anyways
The guthix design predates the NFT shit by many years
is using that legacy combat style in rs3 actually viable? atleast somewhat?
Only for old content.
old school old school runescape when?
Theyll get bought out by the chinks, again, befor thet happens.
/v/scape if you can handle the Ganker shitflinging popularity contests
>turn off global

Never try or install vscape it's had a major pedo furry and troon problem since it began.

It's a tap em up on mobile :^)
Maybe andrew gowers new "not runescape" will ne better, it apparently has no tick system
it looks like it learned all the wrong lessons from runescape
he should make a wow clone (he won't because hes a MUDgay)
Sometimes if I stop playing for a while I forget the music is very nice and soulful. A lot of people play with it off cause OSRS is grindy.

>dislikes the final piece
Part of the genius of OSRS is that you can decide to invest different amounts of attention and be rewarded proportionately. Almost every activity has a high and low attention variation, so even if you don't feel like playing you can still progress your account. You can play it while working, coding, drawing, watching TV, or even playing more OSRS. And in fact, low attention activities become a necessary part of the game as you advance to higher levels where actively grinding for 6-8 hours would make you want to have a nice day. Meanwhile, in (classic) WoW:
>leveling
Have to actively pay attention unless you're a paladin, in which case you can download massive amounts of hardcore pornography while playing. Auto-attacking is a death sentence for the majority of classes.
>production professions
Leveling professions is basically a gold check with some RNG because the volume you're processing is so low. At best you'll AFK for 3 minutes while making cloth. At max level, you tend to process a an even lower volume of more valuable resources or spend CDs.
>gathering professions
Stare at the minimap while running in circles. High attention, low intensity activity.
>gearing / bossing
Do I even need to say it? Even FISHING isn't actually very AFK in WoW, it's really annoying to divide your attention between it and anything else. The only AFK activity in WoW is playing the AH.
For whatever reason, OSRS alone occupies this genius niche.
I'm realizing I misread your post because I'm tired, so just pretend I wasn't replying. ;_;
>I just wish it wasn't a topdown clickmeup with .6 seconds per tick
>I just wish it wasn't OSRS
its not enough to keep the voices at bay
its 2nd monitor content.
maybe bossing is more engaging but im literally too shit stat to do that for the next 20 hours of casual gameplay
and im not taking a 2nd monitor content game any more seriously than that
That reminds me I still gotta sell my Zamorak godsword and bandos outfit. It's been since 2013 since I had those.
The ZGS is worth like 20m now
Because it's based on a MUD instead of being based on WoW

Unfathomably moronic. Isnt the guy responsible for this still crying about it on twitter? No idea why he expected to not get backlash
>Isnt the guy responsible for this still crying about it on twitter?
YOU are literally crying about it right this second you pathetic snowflake.
And your crying about me crying about it. We are all tards here anon
They will continue it yearly, starting from '22, '23 had it expect another soon.
Why did they let him do it?
i still find it hilarious that the jmods went around transmogged into grotesque demons during their troony march
seeing this dogshit makes me almost glad my account was stolen and subsequently banned
Glad I resisted the urge to return to this game earlier this year. Disgusting.
I got the quest cape and then stopped playing before they pozzed it, good timing
Remember this cape in rs2 or rs classic?
Nope, only in pozzedscape.
Oldschool Runescape my ass
Grareful sucks, but it has been in the game since 2014 so calling it not oldschool is kinda moot at this point.
>Graceful sucks
Yeah what agility needs is fewer rewards
To specify why it sucks, I think it is ugly and ruins the old school feeling by being the early game "wear this outfit for everything" meta pick. Agility does need rewards and the effect is good for early gameplay when you don't have staminas, but damn I hate seeing it everywhere in game. I want to see more fashionscape, less gray uniform.
literally get a fricking life, loser.
>certain elements are far less acceptable than they were 20 years ago
God I fricking hate modern devs they have no respect for the IP and make it their crusade to pozz everything
I hope there's a mass layoff coming to these political parasites.

I don't get it how are people not 99 in combat stats? Is the afking in NMZ not a thing anymore?
ironmen just spend years skilling instead.
noone does nmz.
>not training combat through slayer
Ironman reporting in, been slacking heavy, took a year break.
started when group ironman came out. still having a blast. gonna get 99 hunter next and go grind some cox (no homo).
Whadda you say about this?
Group ironman btw
I say bang out those last levels and get 70s for SOTE
Gotta go for it sometime, but I really don't like combat that much in OSRS. I just like skilling, but yeah I really should do SotE.
Going for 99.
50k xp/hr is """""fun"""""
Yeah SOTE is nice to unlock even if you don't like combat.
Kys
I wonder if it's the same guy coming into every osrs thread to post the same 5 images and shit his pants continously.

Discordgay mentality aka you're a troony.
Discordgays also think if one anon shits up their server or sekret club (like these threads) that means every anon who dislikes it is the same one.

>The actors are inconsequential. They are mere vessels of the words, mere mouths from which the author can speak. Each of them exists for one shining night. One brief moment where they are raised from irrelevance and emptiness to the role of an artist. On that stage they are transformed from a weak, base thing of flesh and need into a transcendent creature of pure poetry. They lived lives as nobodies - as nothing - and their lives conclude in theatrical perfection. I weep at the simplicity of it, at the elegance.
runescape was the first game that I messed around with listening to youtube videos for background audio, but it never stops amazing me how a browser game you had to load on shockwave could sound like this.
Those songs are magical. To think they were made by a guy who hardly knew a thing about music.
>tfw had a Runescape account in 2006-2008
I assume my account would've been deleted when they brought out the new version?
nah it's still there, you won't have your username anymore though, it will make you change it upon login
Why? Also would my old account work for OSRS or Runescape 3?
Stats got migrated to 3. Your old account will work for OSRS but will start at the beginning.
>old account will work for OSRS but will start at the beginning
Damn
>Why
They released all usernames. Presumably to let people use names that hadn't logged in for over a decade or something.

Im going to find a gf (female) in runescape
It went to shit when they added raids.
dumbest take ever
I only really like vscape and osrs when they have leagues going on.
RS3 is super pozzed too. They have a gay flag you can walk around with and they just desecrated Easter by adding a new "the egg" title with troony coloring.
Armadyl is a gay also. Shame cause him bashing Bandos's head in was based.
pics. Also forgot they're also adding the troony shark to the game, too.
what the hell
Still waiting for Brighter Shores to see if that saves the MMO genre.

I wish there's an official offline/private server version of the game, like Wurm Unlimited.
Private servers available now are still too janky.
I love osrs bros
I loved RS2. OSRS is just an echo
same, the community isn't as fun and the new content doesn't have the same soul of the old dev team
learning the mechanics of all the different minigames was tiring as frick without Adderall or Ritalin
I've been playing this game on and off for almost 20 years, and I still love it. I just made an iron man account and it's kicking my ass.
Playing an iron spunds super fun until I think about stuff like getting a blowpipe or a DWH
>I recognised the image of The Empty Lord himself, the ancient and powerful being who had once named this place as the seat of his empire. He was warding something back. crazy how much the game has changed
look at this man its hard to keep up with
I did DT2 recently and the new stuff is crazy but also super cool
The new shit all sucks because it’s not made with a sincere intention to make something cool. This colosseum shit is clearly created to pander to their Reddit (the actual Reddit that the mods get feedback and ideas from) and streamers. They 100% were trying to make something “epicly hard bro” and it’s literally streamerbait. It sucks
>An unknowable stranger with a thousand faces. An endless ocean where the lost swim. A fissure in fate that exists beyond time. It twists its way into your very soul, devouring all that you are, until by the time it's done, only one question remains... Do you think you can save them?
>Enoch has been renamed to Okina, and his quote referencing "rivers of blood" has been removed
Fricking rofl. How did that even make it into the game in the first place
Old devs didn't hate themselves.
They were always a tiny bit cucked, just now more so. They fired a guy who put a little easter egg in the original version of desert treasure where an npc said "allah zamorak!" or something.
No. Three interns were hired as part of a grad program, one intern made a quest that among other things would teleport EVERY PLAYER ONLINE to the point where the quest began and had NPCs that would attack the player shouting 'allah allah zamorak'. That intern was not offered a full time position.
I don't recall the second, but the third created Monkey Madness, and then turned down a permanent role so he could found his own start up. Spoiler warning: he's fricking rich now.
>He dreamed of draining souls from across the world, becoming unrivalled in his power. In a world without gods, he would rule without opposition. Unrivalled. Untouchable. But it was not to be.

>The chamber wasn't large, but it felt vast. Staring into it, my stomach churned. It was not unlike the terror of standing on the crumbling precipice of a cliff. And yet something compelled me onwards, into the room.
>The chamber was dominated by a single structure, a strange monolith hovering in the air. At the centre of the monolith there seemed to be a swirling vortex of some kind and from it came the whispering voice.
>Its words were starlight and dazzled me as it spoke. It promised me everything I wanted: the evidence needed to convict Sliske, the chance to get my family back, everything I'd ever dreamed... if I would only touch the monolith. It was intoxicating. But I am an Inquisitor, and we do not give in to simple temptation. I steeled myself and turned away, and my gaze fell upon Kolton. His eyes were wide in equal parts wonder and horror and I felt the monolith reaching out to him, using the Shadow Realm as arms. In a flash, I saw the last vestige of sanity torn from his mind and he fell into a stupor on the floor, drooling like an animal. I felt its attention turn back to me.
I'd play it if I set up a bot to get me through the first 30 to 50 hours of absolutely boring grind, into the slightly more engaging later grind but with more options
Bro what? The early game is pure kino
Constant upgrades
Constant new training methods
Constant new unlocks
Quests for crazy level boosts
Its the mid game slog that sucks, getting your slayer high enough to make it worthwhile and completing your quest cape
Getting elite diaries done and having to farm shit bosses
just bot the whole game c**t if you're going to skip the most trivial part.
>[The writing is illegible for several pages] It was always there, begging for us to discover it. I can't believe how easy it was to put it all together. If you take the old stories, the old parables, you can see the bigger picture, the real story. It's all there, hidden in the stories that are not told.
>It is there in the tale of Vokun, who took a pebble and was no longer part of the legend. It is there in the hidden story of Thelthass who stepped into shadows never to be spoken of again. All of the stories, every last one, has a piece of the story left untold. A great network of forgotten and empty takes.
>I pieced them all together and there it was. A hidden story. A story of possibilities. The hole in the whole that leads to a bigger truth. When I found them all, I found the words and the symbols I needed to reach out. It's strange, like music that is waiting to be played. But I am not the composer, merely the conductor.
>It's truly beautiful.
Why does every other game mog the frick out of WoW when it comes to Draconids?
i got out before it went full trans
What do you guys think Brighter Shores will be like? It's being made by one of the original runescape devs.
Graphically it looks a lot like RS3, which is gross. Gameplay-wise we'll have to wait and see.
Honestly, I feel like RuneScape was a relic of its time, and I doubt Gower knows what made it compelling in the first place. I don't think a game that captures the magic of early RuneScape can be made today.
only thing is dislike is the tiles. Yeah RS had tile-based mechanics but the tiles weren't visible.
I kind of hope you can blend the tiles but I can live with it
Andrew said he wanted the tiles because it reminds him of all the tabletop RPGs he plays during his lunch breaks
Based autist. Cant wait to give it a try. Hope it doesnt turn out shit
I'm definitely going to try it. But we need more information to make any fair judgements about it at the moment. It could be based and kino RuneScape 4 or it could be generic MMO #23409. Who knows?
I don't like very much of the original Runescape content so I'm honestly not interested
Runescape was less popular than WoW so they had to try harder.
Of course nowadays Runescape (OSRS and 3) got the same cancer that WoW so now everyone gets funneled to the same garbage Best Slot Of The Month bullshit.
I wanna stop playing this gay shit. What's the going rate for RS3 gold? I have like 80b.
How about you transfer it to OSRS and give me some? Haha…
>"I AM MY SCARS!"
is 2009scape any good? I want to play but not pay for membership, and 2009 has the option to host your own offline server with player bots
There's a 2006scape single player server with bots you can get
I want to get back into this game but I'm a little intimidated by how much content there is now. Should I just follow the optimal quest guide for the time being? I won't be looking at walkthroughs for quests unless I get stuck because I don't want them spoiled.
This gif sucks because the nuDevs and the player base will see this and unironically think it’s really really dummy and base their promotional material around this kind of humor
FUNNY***** not dummy
just do what you want, but know that if you don't look things up on the wiki you will almost always be spending more than 10x the amount of time on skills and tasks than you need to even without sweating.
Going through quest guide is great because it sets you up with milestones that are varied. So it takes quite a while before you hit any major grinds and get to do new things often.
If the game doesnt get you in the first 20 hours following the optimal quest guide runescape probably aint for you.
I want old death mechanics back
I want to loot stuff when people die
I want to panic if I die and madrush back to wherever I was
I want to watch afkers get mogged by random events and die for free stuff
I get it, they can't bring it back while people can still just ddos to freeze and kill players but still
>How has it managed to dominate the MMO space for years?
Runescape is not an MMO. It's a strand game.
Im on a 3 month hiatus, how is the varlamore update?
good actually
rad across the board. Though people seem a little let down at the rewards from hunter contracts.
>MMO
singleplayer game
>he doesn't have friends/a clan
lol
You don't a couple hundred friends to qualify the first M
back in my day you made friends in MMOs no matter what, now people don't even want to talk and meeting the ones who do talk is a toss-up between porn addicted degens obsessed with politics and actual cool relatively not mentally ill people
Runescape sucks and it was only ever played by poor kids who couldnt afford real videogames.
You have tried out the new content right? You did take another stab at hunter.. Right?
wait whats that to the lower left?
Varlamore got split into a few areas, but they already have a lot of the map both hidden in engine and shown in concepts a while ago. It's basically the main updates up until Sailing and whatever next year has.
ahh
I miss black spots on the map
We've still got Menaphos until next year is my guess. Maybe Sailing will add them just for fun, though I suspect we will get edge cloud decorations/borders to hide the map.
>menaphos
and that's the only one right?
Currently outside of Varlamore, yeah.
The lore from 2006 was Menaphos people sailed around the globe to prove the planet was a sphere. Actually pretty kino if almost 20 years later they tie Menaphos and Sailing together.
Shame in R3 Menaphos was just some rep grind bullshit.
>another gigantic city with zero reason to visit
They didn't learn a single fricking thing from Zeah lmao
>another gigantic city with zero reason to visit
New thieving method isn't bad. and obviously the Colosseum exists. You should give it a try before you complain
>yet another herb patch
>anvil within sneezing distance of a bank
there's reasons to visit but nothing groundbreaking enough to justify this much extra landmass, especially when 90% of Kourend is still unused.
It's just pure spectacle and bloat. "Look, we added another city, come resub!" without learning a single thing from their botched implementations of Kourend and Slepe.
I think the content is really good. All the new training methods are worth doing, the thieving is amazingly AFK, and the new bone mining/prayer method is great.
Not to mention the moons and coliseum.
>90% of Kourend is still unused.
I agree with this, though. All the open space there is a massive pain.
At least with varlamore, the open fields are filled with hunter creatures.
>New thieving method is good
>Colosseum is the new best range cape slot item
>Hunter spots all over
>Perilous Moons is unironically one of the best mid tier bosses around
>Apparently the new prayer method is neat idk I've never tried it
>Herb patch
There's only so much you can really do
Varlamore itself as a city is one of the best the team has put out since launch imo. Kourend is still a mess after the reworks, slepe only exists for NM/PNM
The quests that came with it are all pretty good, it's a cool enough aesthetic, and to me it's clear that they've absolutely learned from the botched past two cities
There's certainly way more to do here than any of the major cities in the mainland.
>Perilous Moons is unironically one of the best mid tier bosses around
I was super skeptical about 'barrows 2' but they absolutely nailed it.
The melee attack types, the boss phases (except blue moon with the braziers), the whole skilling for combat resources thing was genius, and the entire loop feels smooth as frick.
I really appreciate that it's a giant training room for tougher content
>Eclipse moon
I see a zuk shield mechanic
>Blue moon
Akkha cum phase training
>Blood moon
P2 Verzik, PNM shadows
All in an area I can endlessly loop through without spending supplies. It's so much fun
The content that has come out this year is really good in training you for tougher pvm with Scurrius and now this.
Only part I find particularly hard is the blood moon.
But yeah it's great that mid game is getting some content that helps teach you later stuff.
Put on better defence gear
The more damage you take the more the boss heals
how does this happen?
Put on better defence gear
The more damage you take the more the boss heals
It's not a bad update overall. Adding 4 new quests with the area was the best decision they could have made, even if the quests were short.
>spend 8 hours smithing
>get one level up
it's like a job with no actual rewards. shit's way too slow and moronic
If you haven't beated Colloseum yet you suck at runescape
>As I wandered, I saw shapes through the ice, on the bottom far below. They were too regular or too incredible to be natural rock. They were buildings, great cities even, buried in a frozen, sunken slumber. What I could make out of their architecture seemed impossible, and when I try to sleep in this place the strange, distorted shapes of those buildings haunt me. I wonder who could have built them, and whether they ever stood above the surface of the ice. Had they been ruined and buried, or were they somehow built within the ice itself?

WILDERNESS
What the frick is this Black person larping about?
>This world is nothing but loneliness. I walked for what must have been days in that unchanging wilderness, my supplies almost depleted. I encountered only one thing in that walk which could be confused for something edible. A large and voracious slug-like thing attacked me from a snowdrift. With impossible agility it leapt at my face, and I was barely able to cut it down. I tried to eat it, but a thick and stinking ichor repelled me and I left it on the ice.
I like the game but holy frick they need to update the controls. Using Autohitkey for hugh level PvM feels almost mandatory unless you're a massive autismo. But instead of baking thsy functionality into the game, they BANNED AHK, a ban which they are completely unable to enforce, so i use it anyway.
They also cater way too hard to the turbosweats. Tombs of Amascut os fun, right up until you're trying to get past expert mode and suddenly you're legitimately required to abuse bugs and tock manipilation just by default to progress, such as Red Xing BaBa.
Feels like they should just allow keybonds for certain things like special attacks, prayers etc instead of fighting against the tide to appease a vanishingly small minority of autismos. After all, i can achieve the same thing independently, and there's nothing anyone can dp about it. All they're accomplishing is foltering out newer players (who actually care about the rules).
?si=ISMraA2uGZs_ayAz
for me, it's this.
did you seriously spam this in chat? You're a real gay.
Pff, not even offensive. Just annoying.
I've been gotten by that before, a long time ago in the past. They don't have a rule for spamming/flooding so they use Offensive Language instead.
im kinda curious how much osrs vs rs3 has made in revenue
Rs3 barely gets updates anymore. It's legitimately a dead game. Os has very clearly taken over as the main source of revenue for jagex.
Im very tired of real life seeping into my escapist videogames boys...
kind of bothers me when they mess with old content, I don't care if they want to add an entire continent like Varlamore but I hate that homosexual rainbow bird they put outside east Varrock to get there. I admit this is autistic but it feels like vandalism. Forestry was shit too and sailing is going to make things even worse

Interesting this thread came up as I have never played Runescape let alone OSRS before. But I have always heard good things and im a massive classic wow fan.
I started yesterday and have a few questions
How do I get more mind runes to level up magic? I've only found that one that spawns in the castle and I have to keep going back and forth just to be able to cast missile or whatever it is
Am I fricking myself over by playing the free version? and more to this is it even worth starting OSRS in 2024 as a brand new player or am I wasting my time?
Im not after a quest thing to tell me exactly where to go but are their quest guides in game that help me without having to read "go southwest etc"
how do levels work? as far as i can see you have an overall level which adds up all your skills, but enemies have levels like Level 2 or Level 3, sometimes i can kill a level 6 easily others it takes me forever to kill a level 2.
how can i improve my stamina so i can run longer, the walking is excruciatingly slow
thanks in advance.
>How do I get more mind runes to level up magic?
Talk to the Duke in Lumbrdige, do rune mysteries.
>Am I fricking myself over by playing the free version?
No, the free version is the tutorial for the game
>are their quest guides in game that help me
The quest log tells you who to talk to, where, what you need to start it, a summary of what you did and whet you need to do next.
>how do levels work?
Combat level is a semi-convoluted mix of your attack, strength, defence, HP, magic, ranged and prayer levels. It's a general guide of how you compare to a monster with the proper equipment for your stat levels.
>how can i improve my stamina so i can run longer
Pay up goy and grind out agility
Thanks for this, the consensus is F2P wont hamstring you like other games, and it still sounds like its worth getting into so I will stick with it
safespotting if you're doing, say hill giants(which is one of the more usefull starting mobs to fight iirc), is entirely acceptable and people while not being expected to do it by the game, they havn't fixed it and its so much more worth doing than not.
so if you can "a little bit" cheese a mob just do it, people dont play the game to be running back and forth from the bank because they got hit a bunch
F2P is like a free trial, and will be much slower than p2p
That being said i highly recommend doing all the f2p quests at least
Dragon slayer is kino
>mind runes
buy from the rune shop in varrock
>f2p
it's fine to play on f2p until you beat all the quests and want more. It's kind of annoying to play without agility and certain members quests let you basically skip the early game grind for a lot of skills but its whatever
>how do level work
It's a complicated formula based off hp/melee stats/ranged/magic, enemy level calculations are based on those stats too. So the lv6 that was easy to kill might just have low defense against your combat style
>run longer
agility, member skill
combat level is what the enemy (and you and other players) show which is a mix of all your combat stats put together, generally you want to level strength for melee because hitting higher(str) > hitting more but lower hits(attk)> defense is just to equip better armor and iirc its the one that boosts your cb a lot more than the others without doing "heaps" it still does stuff
Defense makes them miss you
yeah no shit but its not as impactful as the others until you need level 70/75 armor
Defense CAN make them miss you, armor stats count way more for that which is why you see chucklefricks running around in nothing but Dhide chaps.
Same with attack.
Strength ranged and magic are the ones where it actually matters if you level them.
Not quite right. Defense stay acts as a multiplier for your defense level roll. Say you have a defense of 10 and 100 bonus, your defense roll is now 1000. at 20 defense with the same amor, it's now 2000. Attack works similarly.
Do you have any Idea how FAST you'd become impossible to hit if that was real?
You're just assuming the game operates on small rolls. The maximum defense roll in Justi with a bulwark is like 17800. The game uses something like 1d35,000 for checking rolls.
Go f2p pking against someone in a full set of rune and watch as you both hits 0s on each other for 45 minutes
>if that was real
Educate yourself
buy mind rune from GE
not really, do dragon slayer and if you liked the journey then pay for members
use the map and the quest log
train attack to 10 then strength to 10 then attack to 20 and so on until 40, get a mithril scimitar
train agility
training str first is way more important

>How do I get more mind runes to level up magic? Magic shops in different towns, create them with runecrafting, find an enemy that drops them and farm it.
>Am I fricking myself over by playing the free version?
Yes
>and more to this is it even worth starting OSRS in 2024 as a brand new player or am I wasting my time?
OSRS is mostly a single player game there is no good or bad time to start.
>Im not after a quest thing to tell me exactly where to go but are their quest guides in game that help me without having to read "go southwest etc"
Optimal quest guide and wiki will walk you through them
>how do levels work?
I assume you are referring to combat stats. Basically the more damage you do with an attack the more xp it grants you. This creates 3 major limiting factors on combat xp: Enemy health (more health=more damage you can do=more xp), accuracy (hit more = more damage = more xp), and damage (more damage = more xp)
>how can i improve my stamina so i can run longer, the walking is excruciatingly slow
Agi improves your run energy and you will also eventually buy stam pots to give you instant stam back as well as there is a ring that you can get that gives stam back that you can get pretty early on.
Come on dude don't tell a new player to use the wiki
There's way too much frickin shit in this game to not use the wiki at this point.
Not for the standard f2p experience where you do all the quests before getting membs
People getting into Runescape at this point and asking these questions are not looking for the 2006 runescape experience. Even playing with the wiki the game is still extremely different from most mmos.
yeah and next thing you know hes holding down spacebar during quests using the quest plugin. give him a chance to experience the game
>don't hold spacebar!
>experience the quests!
Expect nothing less from groomerscaper
>How do I get more mind runes to level up magic?
There's a big shop in northwest Varrock called the Grand Exchange that sells pretty much everything. You can buy them there for dirt cheap. There's an NPC-run rune shop in Varrock as well but the prices are shit.
You're "supposed" to runecraft them, but runecrafting is such a shit skill that it fails at its one purpose.
>Am I fricking myself over by playing the free version?
There are some minmax strategies that require membership, but if you're just dicking around to see if you like the game it's fine. By the time you complete Dragon Slayer you'll know whether you want membership or not.
>and more to this is it even worth starting OSRS in 2024 as a brand new player or am I wasting my time?
The whole game is a waste of time. That's rather the point.
>how do levels work? as far as i can see you have an overall level which adds up all your skills, but enemies have levels like Level 2 or Level 3, sometimes i can kill a level 6 easily others it takes me forever to kill a level 2.
Players have a combat level (what you see on other players / enemies) and a total level. The combat level has some funky formula and you can see your own combat level on the tab that lets you select attack style. Enemy combat levels are almost completely arbitrary, but generally higher = more raw power. They don't take into account items/food/prayers either, so for example you could probably kill a Lesser Demon (lv82) in melee combat at around level 40-45 if you're properly equipped, or even lower if you cheese them with ranged/magic.
>how can i improve my stamina so i can run longer, the walking is excruciatingly slow
The only thing that helps with that is having a lower carry weight. Running in armour rapes your run energy but it lasts a lot longer naked. Agility (members only) makes it recover faster but the formula is so fricked it's questionable whether it actually works.
>Am I fricking myself over by playing the free version
Yes and no. OSRS is unique among MMOs for being an optimization puzzle with a massive amount of moving parts. It starts off simple with things like
>Wait, why am I doing all of my smelting and smithing in Falador using the town's furnace and Doric's anvil?
>I could be doing in my smelting in Falador, and the smithing all of my bars in Varrock where there's an anvil next to the bank
but members gets quite complex. F2P is a good way to introduce you to this concept without giving you way, WAAAY too many variables to begin with.
That said, members is the real meat of the game and boasts all of the best content for every skill, so if you get a feel for the game and you're enjoying it, there's no reason not to at least try members.
>How do I get more mind runes to level up magic?
ge, or the runecrafting skill or the easiest way is from a shop that sells them in bulk, one such shop is in varrock
>Am I fricking myself over by playing the free version?
no and it'll serve as a good test if you like the game for awhile
>and more to this is it even worth starting OSRS in 2024 as a brand new player or am I wasting my time?
its worth
>but are their quest guides in game that help me without having to read "go southwest etc"
the osrs wiki has full word guides that r easy to navigate, the ultrapiss easy way is to use a runelite client which highlights everything and gives directional arrows and descriptions right there in the game, though I advise you quest a few times without it to get a feel for how questing works
>how do levels work?
a monsters level references its combat level (like how your char has its combat level, you start out at level 3 combat) the combat level is dependant on your combat stats averaged through a formula u dont rly need to understand yet, just know that some monsters have a lot more defence even if they are a lower level or have a higher attack level so they hit more often or a higher str level so they hit harder
>how can i improve my stamina
agility skill, also there is weight reduction clothing, some of it is from agility but all of it is members, energy potions also work (the basic ones are f2p)
late game being designed around autistic prayer flicking is what made me quit
I think Runescape is actually a government created stupid test designed to remove humans with the brain chemistry that draws them to a game like Runescape out of the population and gene pool.
I call them grind "humans", humans in quotations because they barely register as human.
I'm not someone who thinks "videogames are a waste of time, you should do something useful instead!" because this world sucks and we all deserve to just sit down and have unproductive fun, but if you choose to spend that time playing Runescape, you have legitimately failed.
The smartest people i know play OSRS, im a high school dropout and play more WoW than anything.
this but with people who play gacha games, at least runescape has some charm and history behind it as an mmo. but people who play gacha games aren't even real people. like I genuinely have a hard time believing people who play gacha games exist in real life and find those games to be acceptable creations. like the kinds of people who play gacha are everything that's wrong with the industry, but you might also have a point about people who still play osrs and really, mmos in general.
You are honestly not wrong saying this about gacha games. It is a proven statistical fact that only 10% of players in games with microtransaction/gacha spend money on them and yet those games make TONS of money, proving that the people that spend money on them straight up have problem gambling issues or have other mental health issues that are taken advantage of by the game.
Yeah. I can understand why someone might feel that way about people who play MMOs, but to me MMOs still had something unique about them that other games couldn't offer at the time, and they were really an impressive product of it's time and showed just how advanced technology was getting.
With gacha games I just don't see it, maybe it's because I didn't grow up with them but they're such low effort made games shat out like shovelware, every time I've ever tried a game with a gacha system I found myself asking if it was made by pajeets or some small team of asiatics. So many of them are literally just jrpgs but worse, and none of them are as good as any jrpg in any way shape or form. There's nothing impressive about these gacha games, none of them are actually good games even looking at them objectively alongside other games. They don't do anything different than other games besides demand money for power.
It's actually insane to me that game devs figured out they can churn out games with far lower quality than shit I was playing on a gameboy advance but with an expensive catch, and that people will actually pay for it. When it comes to shit like runescape I never played it much as a kid, but I did play other MMOs and always heard/read about runescape, so I'm a bit biased and can see why the appeal is still there for some.
Gacha games abuse a lot of concepts of human psychology to create addicts out of stupid people. They're handheld casinos made for millennials and zoomers.
After mobile took over as the main platform around 2010-2015, mainstream gaming went to absolute shit.
We always had some variation of this, remember farmville? There was no fricking game, it was build thing to build better thing with a social mechanic around it.
It's fricking wild the shit people choose to burn their money on.
runescape is actually a gacha game almost every activity has some rng mechanic behind it, even your connection to the servers sometimes
You do realize that, if this idea were at all accurate, Runescape would be removing the ideal laborer from the population? You've failed your own stupidity test here.
do any anons actually play on mobile
i did when it came out, i have my earphones in at work so i could but hated i couldnt listen to music and have it afk in my pocket so dropped it after maybe 4 weeks
can somebody post the dialog talking about people who don't believe in god casting prayers when attacked?
or just any funny runescape dialogs
Your "funny" dialog
Player:
Why don't you just give me a straight answer for once?
Sliske:
Hmm, what an interesting proposition... Very well. You get ONE straight answer. Ask your question.
>[What...is your favourite colour?]
Sliske:
Hahaha! The universe falling down around your ears and you ask me a question of such frivolity! I like your style!
Player:
Just answer the question!
Sliske:
Hmm, let me think... Well, black never goes out of the style.
Player:
Black is not a colour, it's an absence of colour!
Sliske:
Alright, no need to be pedantic. Okay, I'm a fan of blue-green colours.
Player:
Picking two colours is cheating!
Sliske:
Alright, fine! Aquamarine; I like aquamarine. Happy now?
Player:
Yes, very. Thank you.
Why are you spamming rs3 shit in an osrs thread?
Because the meta plot was pretty decent until the conclusion of Sliske's Endgame
Nobody knows what the frick you're even talking about moron.
>pretty decent
Every single RS3 quest from World Wakes and Missing Presumed Death onwards is utter dogshit.
It's not even a discussion, read a fricking book if your taste is so far gone that you think RS3's putrid flavor of capeshit is even remotely palatable.
Twilight of the Gods is a good quest, its the quest where the player character says "frick all this god bullshit, imma restore the Edicts" and you can tell armadyl that being gay is for gays
I would say that was true between 2017 and 2019, because there were very few quests released, with a brief respite in 2020-2022 with the Elder God Wars quests, and 2023 had a consistent quest-release pacing after a reset which ended the Sixth Age, banished the gods and re-established the Edicts of Guthix, as well as adding "Kingdom-quests" which have been asked-for since 2009...
However, 2024 has been awful for quests, or anything, really - we are expecting them to announce 2 new RuneScape-related games...
>as well as adding "Kingdom-quests" which have been asked-for since 2009...
I really wanna know who left jagex after ToTG, the quality of quests took an IMMEDIATE and PERMANENT nosedive after the release of ED4
Today I will remind them that Underground Pass is the absolute GOATED quest
I quit the game after they nerfed it and ME2 for song of the elves, said they'd revert the nerfs, and then never did it.
What did they nerf? Because I still spent 30 minutes trying to pass the fricking handholds in MEP2 recently.
Fail rates on jumps, the handholds MIGHT have been reverted but they made the whole of the underground pass a shitty instance and gutted the fail rates on all the obstacles instead of just doing the sensible thing of putting an agility requirement on the quest. Supposedly this is because according to their analytics department, things like underground pass caused thousands of players to quit, but in reality it was probably because they were having massive team growth at the time and a bunch of wannabee hotshots like Mod Gee needed to have their ego stroked by trying to expose as many people as possible to their butchery of such a nostalgic area and questline.
I genuinely don't understand how people like and willingly play MMO's. What you like is what you like but I just don't get it.
Im mining fallen stars at work rite now
Varlamore has been pretty cool so far.
I'm more glad to see that Brighter Shores is going to take a swing at a similar style of gameplay. Feels like there's a lot of untapped potential Runescape's formula has as this mix of point-and-click adventure, player-run economy, and dungeon delving that got lost as the game focused more and more on grind autism for OSRS and dead theme parks for RS3.
If anything, it got me curious: is there any good RSPS out there that's already focused on the multiplayer and adventure aspect of the game? There's not a lot of proper documentation on the ones that pop up when searching for RSPS, aside from ones that just try to capture a certain era of Runescape and therefore just end up being the same "centrally authenticated grinding" that I'd like to avoid.
>Feels like there's a lot of untapped potential Runescape's formula
Dunno, combat is pretty boring unless you run into some overpowered boss; Skilling gets samey as well unless progression is very rich in content. The only good stuff is the point-and-click adventure stuff(quests, unless you end up having to run back and forth with items) and areas to visit, but you wouldn't be able to keep churning out the new content at sufficient speed for a mmo game.
>combat is pretty boring unless you run into some overpowered boss
Well the point is untapped potential: Runescape's weakness system--crush/stab/slash, elemental vulnerability, the triangle, and so on--feels like it could be doing a lot more to have players of different builds characterize themselves by what tools they use to take down monsters of different weaknesses, especially working together as an adventurer party. The bigger enemies and their AoE attacks or ones based on line of sight and so on also feel strangely fun in a tile-based system, and the only thing I'd like is to see more of it.
There's also the potential for slayer items to be expanded. Right now, it mostly comes down to "you have to have this item equipped to not die or to do the killing blow," but there could be so many different/obscure interactions with different items based on how the game's point-and-click-esque nature (one of the few examples is Insulated Boots vs Rune Draogns), or you don't even need to go that far: just be able to use Slayer items more actively in combat to do things like interrupt winding-up attacks or do extra damage if they're in their vulnerable animation.
>dominate the MMO space
lmao
at no point has it ever
There's something oddly sad seeing someone desperately posts the same things over and over again for attention.
Lucien won btw.
I want to play OSRS again, but I just don't know if it's worth it. I never beat Jad when I was younger and there is a metric frick ton more content, but I also don't want to deal with bots, but I also know that Jagex is actively developing the game, so that is a big plus for me. If I just casually have OSRS on my second monitor and doing what I need to in order to reach the end game, how long will it take? 6 months of at least 4 hours a day?
"dealing with bots" is just clicking and walking past them, its a non-issue.
Can't wait to train my mining and woodcutting with all the veins and trees getting constantly depleted. If It was to other humans, I wouldn't care.
press CTRL+SHIFT+<
congrats you're on a new world.
Woodcutting rewards multiple people cutting the same tree now.
>Woodcutting
They actually updated woodcutting recently
>Players chopping the same tree will be given an invisible Woodcutting bonus. Each player will receive a +1 boost to Woodcutting for each player at the tree, up to a maximum of +10 with ten players. This bonus does not get applied while chopping a normal tree, while in the Woodcutting Guild, or any tree grown through Farming.
>Rather than trees having a chance to deplete any time a resource is gathered from one, trees will now deplete on a timer that activates after the first cut. The timer regenerates if players stop cutting the tree before it's fully chopped. Trees grown through Farming are not affected by Forestry timers. The timer's length is based on the average time each different type of tree currently lasts:
>Mining
Botting doesn't affect this
Bots these days do high end pvm shit because that's infinitely more money per hour, which is the only thing they care about when bots are all suicide bots that expect to get banned
Thank you for this info. But still, how long would it take until I can start doing fun stuff? Also, do people cheat in PvP? I don't mean having autistic levels of mechanic knowledge to exploit, I mean outright cheating.
>How long for fun stuff
That's entirely dependent on your style of play, the type of account you have and exactly what you're after. The best sort of long term goal for a new player is working towards a quest cape. This usually takes like 8-12 months or so if you push yourself hard towards this. This unlocks all the raids, all the bosses, gives you a solid account with mid 70's in every stat. From here you can run early bosses, low level tombs of amascut (most recent raid), and stuff like the new perilous moon bosses released last week
>Cheat at pvp
Generally no. Because pvp is so niche of content these days but is also the most popular one from a viewer standpoint there's a lot of people that stream it and Jagex has a strange obsession with monitoring it for anti cheat over other stuff. The worst you'll see some occasional auto hotkey stuff for item/prayer switching but they're still very rare.
last man standing is a fun battle royale minigame type thing that's good to introduce people to pvp. Expect to get absolutely trashed by people who are swapping between entire gear sets every other attack
Thank you for the info anon. Again, I appreciate it.
can I say Black person again? i refuse to play this game if i can't call my friends Black person in private chat and not get muted despite neither of us reporting it.
why the FRICK are log prices increasing so steadily?
Forestry shit is a massive sink for logs, the supply finally came down
>not even the true classic runescape
Runescape died with version 2
I miss this little homie like you wouldn't believe.
I need to do the new quests. Just got my house decked out with the slurpee, best israeliteelry box, fairy ring and nexus. Rip cash stack.
>84 con
Frick I need to go back to it. I have it in the bank but I'm too fricking lazy to get it done
I started enjoying mahogany homes when I started using NPC contact, before lvl 80 I was just an idiot and ran / tp'd to fally to get new ones. I will probably do some mahogany homes still even with the stats to max the house because I am missing the blueprints that are 2k points, still need to do something like 400 adepts to get them.
Give me the strength to do more mahogany homes
5 more levels for 85 construction
the new owners of jagex dont have any intention of killing bots and infact love them because it lines their pockets, so sadly I have parted ways with runescape/osrs for now. I played rs3 a while ago too but that game is so slopified it's not even funny.
>mfw I took part in every pride march and had fun ebullying the people crying in falador shooting them with the pride crossbow
>mfw you keep seething about a miniclip cookie clicker doing things that you don't like
>mfw my face when
rent free, you are so easy to bully it is ridiculous at this point
>puts knives ropes and broken glass into fally chest.
Oh nooo stop replying to me anon your really hurting my feelies with a pool's closed-meme.
I think a lot of it is the game not taking itself too seriously. Not to the point of "Parody of an MMO", but it really does just create a chill experience. On the other hand, it will send your heart racing when you're in the wilderness with your best gear that you could lose at any moment. It just makes good contrasts.
I'm getting desperate to play OSRS, but I won't let myself do it unless I'm simultaneously doing an activity that improves me as a person. Any suggestions?
>lifting while AFK'ing
>reading
>studying a language
Anyone have experience with this? Did it make the shame of shooting up digital heroin tolerable?
Having IRL friends who also play the game is great for that.
>subscription based
i don't have time for this shit
>I....... I wish I spent more time clicking pixels and jerking off......... *BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP*
>I....... I wish I spent more time posting on Ganker about games I don't even like and jerking off......... *BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP*
Just because I don't like it doesn't mean I don't spend every hour playing it, moron.
Oh your post was self depraving got it, carry on.
Thanks sorry for calling you a moron it's been a rough couple months
We have all been there bwana. Hope you find an enjoyable grind for the account, remember that the game is not worth playing if you are treating it like a job. You can take breaks too and get that good itch to click on pixel trees and go dry in barrows back.
🙂
Unironically OSRS is one of the only places where its players feel largely self aware of how much of a soul sucking grind it is. I don’t play currently but I’ve played on and off for probably 20 or so years at this point, it’s hard to explain to someone who doesn’t like RS why it’s addicting but it’s also that game where sometimes you get to a point on a Saturday afternoon and you’re like what the frick am I doing I’m falling asleep in my chair this is so mind numbing. It’s such a bizarre game in so many ways and yet it’s lightning in a bottle for that reason also. I’m rambling I just have a complex mostly love relationship with OSRS even if I’ve been out for a while now.
i've play a few mmos over the years but runescape just does it better
a few things i like
>simple ui, few pop up windows, you interact with the world more than you do with menus
>no dailies
>no time gating
>main goal is to build your character instead of doing raids and gear levels
>plenty of ways to train skills, afk activities or sweaty ones
>new contents dont devalue older contents
>the world feels alive, every single thing in the world has an examine option, you can cut down most trees, everything you drop you can see ect.
>quests are actual quests instead of tasks
>no dailies
>no time gating
Isnt that the entire farming skill?
dailycucking is only a problem for irons
Unless you're an iron it doesn't really matter
>generally dislike grinding
>play runescape as a kid like everyone else
>think OSRS sounded like the most awful autistic grind shit for many years
>almost ashamedly decide to try it a bit over a month ago, since I was going through some shit and needed a simple game that I could also play while doing other things
>decide to go ironman on a whim since everything I'd heard about the game in recent years was pure GE autism
>ignore anything that felt cheaty to me, like minigame teleports or the guides around lumbridge just giving you free shit
>use wiki for specific information or for ideas on how to level certain skills but don't treat it as a straight guide
>wind up surprised at how engaging the early game is
>game feels like it's more about finding a path through all its content than anything else
>constantly charting out new ways to make X easier for me if I do Y first so I can then do Z and unlock whatever
>finding/unlocking new methods of travel is incredibly rewarding
>there's just enough grinding to keep me interested in finding more efficient methods of said grinding
>all the little optimizations in finding random minor gear upgrades I happen to have access to is great
>only real newer pvm / bosslike content I've gotten to was Scurrius but it was very fun doing it probably undergeared, needing to manage prayers / eating / dodging all while trying to learn to prayer flick where I can
All in all it's been pretty enjoyable. I'll probably wind up de-ironing or giving up or something once the real grind sets in but I'm pleasantly surprised so far. Thank you for reading my blog.
Scurrius is a great introduction to the newer content. You're actually at a level where you could start with Barrows if you really wanted with Iban Blast, but the gear itself isn't relevant to you yet so don't fuss over that.
The new Perilous Moons gear and content is also in the vein of Scurrius in that it's lower level and serves as an introduction to the sweatier mechanics which being rewarding for mid-game players.
In general Jagex as been pretty good recently about introducing plenty of early/mid game content which I like.
Ah, I might at least try Perilous Moons then. I'd heard it was lower level but it's hard to find much info on how low specifically this early on.
I've not tried much Varlamore stuff yet since I wound up on a stupid multi-day stretch of doing mor'ton/myreque/shade-task bullshit all at once because I thought it'd be more convenient than having to run down there multiple times.
Might need a bit higher melee specs for perilous moon.
You wouldn't want to start moons until you're +75 in melee stats and have melee barrows armour
i love this game like you wouldnt believe
im glad it's actually still growing after 20 freaking years
>tfw my original account is permabanned for major RWT
>no appeal
>didnt even do anything
feels bad man
I know they're revamping skills but OSRS would be better if they made the IM grind less extremely annoying. Every skill needs a 200-300k xp/hour method that isn't locked behind 500 hours of grinding.
For example getting crafting requirements on IM sucks and that combined with other grinds gave me RSI. The main game is just not fun once you hit end game, you just raid constantly trying to hit a big drop table, and each new gear upgrade is like 100m+ gp away. The best way to enjoy the game is IM but the grind can be sickening at times.
the only single thing i hate about IM is doing clue scrolls when they require some of the most moronic shit from other clue scrolls.
Let's be real this game is unplayable without using bot and multi boxes
Never done either.
kys
the only thing you're allowed is an auto clicker to alch with
kys
its a hobby game, learn some patience.
Even the game developers don't expect players to get a 99 in a skill.
Weak mental fortitude.
Runescape is just from a different era where MMO design was completely different
It's basically the antithesis to theme park MMOs
It's pretty much the only noteworthy game that survived from that era
>Finally convinced bf to start playing OSRS again on his old account with me
>But he doesn't want to do a GIM and start over
So close..
convinced gf to play just before GIM came out, cousin and I were already so far ahead with out at the time hcim, we said screw it and kept going, GF wasnt pleased and stopped playing.
I'll usually launch Runescape after a year or two of not even thinking about it, because the atmosphere is just that intoxicating for the time that you play. Something about the sheer simplicity, the soundfont, the monotony of grinding, in theory this is all garbage but it's just enjoyable to partake in.
I'm really glad RS has been around for as long as it has, and that OSRS itself came out as it's own thing after the changes resulting in RS3. I just wanted to spill my heart about one of the few things left that I love in this world.
i reckon the nostalgia is 2 parts
1 part the obvious
the second is you know it would take an inordinate investment to be "competitive", and back then you had no thoughts of competitiveness
so you just go and play, you can be efficient but that always comes with a monetary cost, so you just settle back into the comfy activities you always did, set a little goal for yourself and progress to it without any regards for other peoples tactics
Why did they add the Grand Exchange in?
what was the launcher before runelite? or whatever people use now. it had a dscim in the picture
Questing in Al Kharid
Money stolen
tell the truth pussy
Anyone want to swap some torags plates for ahrims or karils? I am ironmeme so I can't buy them.
forgot log.
>Ganker is STILL screaming and crying about sweaters and flower crowns
Literally never seen someone wearing any of it a single time.
these people do not play the game, all they do is trawl on Ganker and post their image folders of "le woke" depending on the game.
>these people do not play the game
You're right, I would have loved to but they had to put the gay shit in. It's cool that you're able to turn your brain off though
>I would have loved to
You had over twenty years
I would have loved to continue*
Why would i spend 10 bucks on a bond when its 15 for a month
Jagex-endorsed real world trading
I quit RS3 over the gay/ESG shit a couple years back. Now I'm thinking of playing on vidyascape but they don't allow VPNs.
>quit troony game
>wants to play troony server
For decades I've been waiting for someone to make a game like osrs but with modern gameplay, nobody ever does. Why is this world so lame and gay?
That's just a clone, there's nothing modern about it.
>point-and-click type gameplay
>nothing modern
No shirt Sherlock.
if it had modern gameplay it wouldn't be like runescape, the clunkiest shit ever.
You need to actually describe what you want and not just "game I like + Buzzword or Other Game"
Ok, I want a third person ARPG with wasd/joystick movement, intricate skillbased combat and a bunch of the AFK activities present in osrs. Autoplay features that lets you grind xp without much intervention but with the option of playing it like a regular game.
a lot of any runescape-like needs to be kind of idle game gameplay because needing to spend hours grinding shit's important to encourage you to unlock other stuff first to speed it up, which is kind of the core loop of the game
I barely got off tutorial island before dropping this game in 2006. What's the appeal of MMOs? I appreciate that Runescape is stripped down of the absolutely fricked hodgepodge graphics that would make Lisa Frank blush, but after that what are you left with? What am I missing?
you need to have a sense of discipline and enjoy monotonous tasks with delayed gratification.
autism helps.
>barely plays game
>huuuurrrrr there's literally nothing
>died on Jad because internet went out
genuinely upset
Fight caves is easy, it doesn't matter.
It's more the time investment doing it.
I haven't played in about a year. I quit about a month before Desert Treasure 2 came out.
Is the new content since then worth coming back for? Quests sound interesting, not read up on new area
DT2 is the best quest in the game, hands down
Also you get 4 new bosses
>DT2 is the best quest in the game, hands down
Why is that? I've finished all the other grandmaster quests and am about to get into DT2, been constantly putting it off since the fights seem much harder compared to the other grandmasters
The story was super intriguing and takes you to a bunch of places in the game that you thought had no more content to offer. The boss fights are honestly really engaging and fun to learn, even vardorvis who absolutely fricked me.
I put it off for a long time, too, but took a few days to work through oarys of the quest at a time and it was really fun.
Final push before getting the whip on the iron lads.
You realize you can literally make a pie that is easy to make to get a +5 slayer boost with like 85 cooking right?
https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Wild_pie
>boosting
No thanks, I rather work my way to the end instead of taking shortcuts.
>No thanks
Hmm, curious with that 104 farming
just a runelite plugin innit
>No boosting
>90 Herblore
Just admit you forgot about it
No. It's pozzed.
>noo muh heckin politics
Dont care
>don't care
>responds to every single person pointing out they're no longer interested due to the injection of politics
pick one
don't care
Because it's an MMO where you actually have to interact with the world
Daily reminder this thread is proof Ganker is infested with homosexuals and trannies simply because no normal sane person would play this slop beyond 14 years old especially when gayex has admitted to being homosexuals literally ontop of the shitty updates that makes oldschool not even oldschool anymore.
Frick OP and frick the redditors in here.
>nooo stop liking what I dont like
kys spergo
You're a redditor if you play this game simply because the subreddit is what determines the future of the game and it's updates. (which is why I quit along with a multitude of other reasons)
Thank you OP and everybody else for outing yourself as trannies and redditors.
Now go back.
I just click on monsters. It's not that deep.
kys already
it's Runescape+ homosexual, keeping it the same would just kill it.
It's exactly what Warcraft should do, and not the shitty season of discovery.
There's no point playing this game outside of leagues.
Pet check.
i'm a pet collector in every other mmo i play but i made the grave mistake of making a uim in osrs
>Total level 2178
>no pets (boss, skilling, or otherwise)
It fricking hurts, bros
>tfw no boss pets
Boring. Definitely a game for people with time and patience that I don't have, plus everyone is good at all 3 combat styles. Kind of ruins the experience for me.
Make a pure for low level pvp
I dont play osrs. I had lots of fun with RS3 for a long time
What the frick did they do to Hans
great systems design that caters to all levels in both pve and pvp, with a lot of room for social avenues. basically what all mmos should have as a baseline. also cool rpg aspects that aren't just moronic kill quest or power boost.
Is the combat as autistic as it seems? I've been thinking about trying this game but I've seen videos of PvP where people are swapping weapons and opening different menus every attack.
That's only for "no-honour" pking where you're trying to hit around the enemy's protection prayers. 99.9% of combat in the game is click monster and wait for it to die.
PvP in OSRS requires extreme levels of autism, if you plan on playing OSRS because of pvp then just don't
swapping equipment every attack is cool though
menuing isn't, hopefully greater shores will cut that part
those games are just theme parks, they have no meaningful vertical gameplay, it's all an illusion, at best they're 2.5D.
>they have no meaningful vertical gameplay
Idk man the upper walls at castle wars are great for shooting from
I'm using runelite, how do I get rid of this "aggressive" box that's above my chat window? It shows up in cutscenes and is super annoying.
Hold down alt and right click it. Turn it off completely from "attack styles" plugin.
awesome, thanks!
Did they ever do anything about the hilarious amount of bots in OSRS, or no because it keeps the player numbers inflated so people believe that bullshit # on the homepage?
They are doing something, but this game is ridiculously easy to bot, and Jagex is not one of the best in antibotting and customer support so bots will always be a major issue in this game. I play ironmeme partly because the economy is always fricked by botting.
np friend.
>try to play again, recover password
>account not found
>apparently it's because no Jagex account
Is my char lost or I can still get it back?
>dominate
>Second highest played mmo right now
How many of those are unique IP players? How many of those aren't active bots?
Cause I can go on the f2p worlds, totalling like 1/3 the total playerbase, and see NOTHING but bots. Literally 99.9999999% bots.
How do you get into this shit? I tried it once and gave up
You set a goal and complete it, whether it be a level, item, or quest.
This is delayed gratification the game, and you'll often find yourself doing and activity for a requirement for another activity thats a requirement for something you want.
>Start f2p, do all the quests
>buy membership, complete ardougne easy diary
>start questing with a long time goal of a quest cape
>skill what you need for your next quest
>hop onto easy bossing
>continue questing
>try out some sweatier training methods
>work towards your first 99
>realize you are addicted to virtual heroin
>buy 12 months membership every Christmas for yourself
>no mention of minogames or skilling bosses
Wintertodt, Tempoross, GotR, and unironically fishing trawler hooked me so fricking hard when I came back from a long break
I know fishing trawler fricking sucks but just being there in the suck with others, shooting the shit, and getting super hype over the angler set pieces was a great time.
It hasn't dominated anything in near half a decade.
It's like 70% bots, and jagex has openly stated they won't do anything about it, instead they only intend to moderate and enforce rules on leagues and dmm cause those are the moneymakers.
MMO as a genre is fricked, there's just no use to it anymore, no utilitarian value to it, it's a game, but you can only play it x hours a week, and you usually have to pay. lmao.
I haven't played in 3 years, but there's something special about the soundtracks that grabs you back.
This b***h is sitting there and high alching my drops, what do?
Pick your shit up
I've started picking drops up out of spite. Frick those leeching fricks. Yeah I have to run to the bank every once in a while since I can't alch while bursting but frick 'em. Get a job, losers
If Jagex really wanted a slam dunk poll result they should poll high alch tabs.
I would love HA tabs but it'd be too OP. There'd be no reason to ever be on the normal spellbook
I quit like 4 years ago after dumping like 5k hours in it. It is a very fun game for a particular type of person but it is also such a time sink that it is almost irresponsible. I am not sure a single other game exists where it takes as long to max out a character. To reach end game content it takes literally years for the average person.
>Still have never played OSRS because any character I make gets instantly permabanned for "botting"
Have you tried not botting?
Yes. It doesn't help.
got a dupe on my iron anyone want it? I don't have a main account.
toss it in death's coffer for free deaths forever
oh shit good call. dt2 ring grind and awakened kills drained it bad
Do I have to drink zammy brews on a high risk world to get it?
>Hes still here seething and shitting himself over 12 hours later
Lol
>newbie doesn't know what a browser extension is and how my threads have a redbox around them if I replied to them and I see them on the frontpage in the catalog.
Back you go buddy.
Troon seethe.
Also a troony.
Mass repliers are all shitskin morons
>Giving him attention and a (you)
You fricking silly billy
>He cares so much that he kept a tab open
>Hes seething so hard that if he sees the thread he cant help himself from jumping in and replying
Oh I laff
moronic newbie Black person award goes to you.
Learn what Ganker x is and lurk more newbie.
OSRS is such a great fricking concept. It's the only UO successor so it will always fill that sandbox niche. The world is packed with thousands of different ways to interact with items and your skills, almost every part of the map is utilized for some type of relevant play. It's also way faster and cheaper to create assets for it, and it still looks timeless.
Which is why I don't understand that there's no other game like it. Only twenty years later there's a similar game coming out. Brighter Shores
Brighter Shores looks very underwhelming tbh. Tiny ass zones with weird cube terrain, looks like he copied Maplestory 2.
But how come there's no other game like Runescape but less grindy? I'd play the shit out of that game.
Who knows, MMOs are notoriously expensive and RS is on the low end of mainstream appeal. I would love an actual contender but I doubt Brighter Shores will be that for me.
Except that OSRS is pozzed, so none of that is true.
RS(C or 2) was such a great fricking concept*
OSRS is a good game but it's too expensive to play.
And by expensive I mean time-wise.
>replying on cooldown to anyone mentioning him
Yeah buddy, keep projecting your mental illness. It's not obvious at all.
>types like a redditor and tries to fit in with an autistic unique posting style despite us being anonymous
>thinks Ganker is one person
>gets owned left and right and made fun of
>STILL doesn't know how browser extensions work
LMAO OHNONONONONOONO
OSRS reddit sissies did we just lose???
>he can't help himself, he had to reply AGAIN
Get help
>Get hel-ACKKKKKKKKKOOOOOO
>i'm not obsessed and mentally unwell I just save images of trannies on my computer, talk and think about them constantly and need to reply to every post tangentially about me. Also for some reason I have a personal vendetta against osrs and must shit in every thread I see
I thought brown pakis like you shat in the streets? Why are you here?
Thanks for the (You)s, by the way, it's gonna look great on my end-of-year report.
Didn't read by the way.
Also trannies literally get fricked by shitskins and Black folk constantly along with homosexuals which is why AIDS exists in your communities and monkeypox and new diseases almost yearly.
The irony of your post is hilarious and I'm just stalling for time until this shit reaches 404.
OSRS sissies you lost once again.
Better luck next time buddy.
>didn't read
>directly addresses the contents of my post
I saw the term brown-paki and that's all I needed to know so yes I quite literally didn't read.
Only trannies obsess over pakis and indians for some reason because their sacred cow is Black folk and they are afraid to speak out against them because they get fricked by them regularly.
Just LOL @ you.
But enough about the porn you watch
It was a fun thread guys, good luck on your grinds.
Ahhh yes the sweet bump limit the taste of win and defeat by the OSRS sissies who will mindlessly click their troon reddit game until they ACKO by the ripe age of 35.
I'm thinking I won.
>he doesn't use the Foodie plugin
>must be a shitpost
>search for it on runelite
>palestine
Isn't this plugin a WoW thing, to let people know you're eating before pulls. Could've swore it was called something like that.
