It's the second most well designed Souls game after Dark Souls 1
Its only major flaws are due to being on underpowered hardware with bad framerates and bad load times

    > Balance
The difficulty, enemy placement, enemy health/damage output is far better balanced than all the other fromsofts. There were very few moments in Bloodborne that just felt entirely unfair and complete bullshit, something that happened constantly in the Elden Ring and the Souls games.

    > World design
It still has that level design that wraps around on itself like Dark Souls 1. but on a smaller scale, and they let you warp to every lamp right from the start. I personally prefer how DS1 did it but this is certainly a more accessible approach.

    > Rally
This is just a really good and fun mechanic that makes you way more aggressive. It also makes the game a lot more forgiving since you can get a lot of health back, but because its a reward for a risk you took, it doesnt feel cheap or easy.

    > Bosses
The boss battles are fast paced, and they dont make you roll through every single attack, dont have shitty unintuitive fake out attacks or combos that go on for ages. Most of them arent too difficult, too easy or excessively janky.

Sadly the DLC throws all that out the window and it feels like you're playing Elden Ring again. You can really see how Fromsoft got worse and worse as they went on.

        Anonymous

I think their design philosophy just changed when they made the DLC and thats the same philosophy they used going forward. All i can say is that the Bloodborne DLC frustrated me in the same way that Elden Ring did, right down to the nonsensical amount of souls you get for every enemy.

      >Bosses
The frick are you talking about?
Bosses outside of the DLC and the obvious Gehrman/Gascoigne/maybe Logarius are the lowest point of Bloodborne and actually are filled with jank, stupid shit you need to rollspam through and commonly are moron easy. Most of them are also not really what I'd call fastpaced or remotely fun.

        Anonymous

If a bloodborne boss is starting an attack you can often just keep some distance and they wont hit you, you dont have to roll through everything.

If you do this in elden ring, the boss will just dash towards you and hit you anyway, forcing you to use your I-frames

The boss design is obviously very different from DS3 and especially Elden Ring

          Anonymous

I have no idea if you're moronic or baiting or more likely just haven't actually played any game in your post. The first 2 bosses in BB all but teach you to rollspam and iframe through everything to get behind opponents. The "roll" in BB is also ridiculously good compared to every other from souls game for that exact purpose.
And it isn't just rollspam, BB has so many dogshit fights, at least half the bosses rank among some of the worst I've ever seen and a quarter more are still terrible. It's just the last quarter that are worth praising and people fondly bring up - who all ironically are guilty of the exact "the boss will just dash towards you and hit you anyway" shit you're whining about

            Anonymous

Obviuosly you have roll through shit, its a fricking fromsoft game. But Bloodborne isnt nearly as reliant on it as DS3 or Elden Ring.

              Anonymous

You do it on the first 2 bosses, Amelia, BSB, Rom (honestly pretty much every shit designed beast boss that begins spazzing out and somehow eats half your life by doing nothing), One Reborn, Ebrietas, every humanoid boss. Pretty much the only ones you aren't using the overpowered roll are when the game decides to make a weak normal enemy a boss fight (Shadows, Emissary) or bosses with broken AI that barely even bother attacking (Witches, Nurse). Paarl a particularly hilarious example because you have to roll through an expanding AoE electric attack which shows they completely stopped giving a frick as to how rolls worked period

                Anonymous

If you think the roll is essential to beating Rom you clearly have no clue what you're talking about or are just wildly misunderstanding my point.

      > Balance
Its probably the best from FromSoftware's souls games. I have played them all. Worse is DS2 and Elden Ring.
      > World design
Its the only cosmic horror game that gets Lovercaft right and even surpasses some of his stories with its lore. As a design, it uses the same logic with DS1, but its more disorientating and has more shortcuts and less bonfires. I like it, and DS3 copied bloodborne on map design.
      >Rally
Pretty genius move, if you ask me. The game encourages aggressive gameplay, and this mechanic is great as a reward and also great to punish greedy players
      > Bosses
They are not crazy fast paced, but usually their second phase gets very intense. Unlike Elden ring that has bosses with cheap AoE attacks and multiple 2 or 4 shot death attacks, some bloodborne bosses have only 1-2 one shot death attacks but they give you enough time to avoid them. I love bloodborne bosses. Lots of them are so iconic.
      >DLC
As tradition dictates, a souls DLC ups the difficulty to crazy levels. However, this DLC has the best bosses, the best weapons and the best soundtrack you can find in Bloodborne. Just like DS1's DLC, it worth its salt
      >Elden ring and bloodborne
Nah, Elden ring is a different beast. Its tiresomely big, and the balance is all over the place. Its late game is very miserable. I have recently finished it and got extremely burnt out. I cant imagine how The Shadow of Erdtree will frick you over.

Virtually everything about the game, other than performance (arguably the only thing not its own fault) is perfect. For the morons complaining about replayability. It has more of it than any other game, because unlike the other souls, the weapons are not palette swaps with a minor property changed. Each weapon is a new playstyle, with its own special moveset, transformations, and properties.

      >For the morons complaining about replayability. It has more of it than any other game, because unlike the other souls, the weapons are not palette swaps with a minor property changed.
no build variety aside from changing weapons doesnt give it replayability there's a reason that literally no one thinks this way and and everyone prefers the elden ring concession system of let most weapons in a class share movesets for 50 different variants of those weapon types

    Bad Bosses

and then Moon Presence I didn't fight because I had no idea about the Umbilical Cord shit, still need to go through the game again. All in all, decent boss roster but the stinkers take up long stretches of the game unfortunately until you actually get to have a fun fight again.

you don't need a beast PC, this is an overblown meme
              >the game is already almost 10 years old and we still dont have ps4 emulation.
The real redpill is that the emulation scene is PROFOUNDLY scarce, talentless and moronic right now, if the CEMU guys (actually talented team) worked on a PS4 emulator we would already be playing BB with mods and shit like BoTW back then.

              https://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/PlayStation_4_emulators

This is what the PS4 emu moronic race looks like right now, none of these teams are coherent or serious like the CEMU/Dolphin ones. Who will win? Possibly neither of them, possibly all of them. It's also worth saying that none of these teams are really getting paid good money like the CEMU guys did so they kinda do it for free and as such, you get subpar dev performance.
