Depends on how you look at it. The negatives are no pirating, modding, or emulating those titles and needing an internet connection to play games but the pros are no datamininggays and saving money by never needing to buy hardware again and having a single device that can play everything.
The only major downside is that most publishers are probably gonna try to sell their own game streaming service so a Snoy Pass won't let you play Final Fantasy or Persona, you'd need the Square Pass and Sega Pass for those. But buying the sub for a month would be cheaper than buying the game now so that might still be a net positive. With games rising to $70 each, I'm sure people would be happy if they could pay $15 to rent a new release for a month instead and we see shades of that already with the popularity of Game Pass. Pirates get absolutely blown the frick out though.

PCs would need to stop coming with USB ports for that to be a thing which seems unlikely unless all mice and keyboards become bluetooth only in the future. Which I guess is possible because CD drives and SD card reader/writers kind of died out but there's nothing stopping you from buying old parts and using those to play old games in that scenario by installing Linux.

PS5's scalper problem is bigger than most people want to admit. The issue is that even if only 50% of all PS5's are in the hands of scalpers, that means Sony can only make 50% of the money they'd normally make. They can't make money off of PS5 exclusives, and nobody can buy a console, so they need new sources of financing in order to keep afloat. Most of these were likely the result of timed exclusivity contracts made in the last decade that are simply expiring right now, the developers are seeing the writting on the wall and realizing renewing those would be suicide so they're just putting everything elsewhere.
Besides maybe Persona, none of these games had exclusivity contracts. It's unclear if Persona wasn't ported before due to an exclusivity deal or Atlus being stubborn of loyal. Everything else here is Sony's games in their entirety.

How is that a bad thing? It's not like I own any of my Steam games either and I spend way more than the price of a GamePass sub on Steam games in a month. Just put everything behind a sub who cares.
Depends on how you look at it. The negatives are no pirating, modding, or emulating those titles and needing an internet connection to play games but the pros are no datamininggays and saving money by never needing to buy hardware again and having a single device that can play everything.
The only major downside is that most publishers are probably gonna try to sell their own game streaming service so a Snoy Pass won't let you play Final Fantasy or Persona, you'd need the Square Pass and Sega Pass for those. But buying the sub for a month would be cheaper than buying the game now so that might still be a net positive. With games rising to $70 each, I'm sure people would be happy if they could pay $15 to rent a new release for a month instead and we see shades of that already with the popularity of Game Pass. Pirates get absolutely blown the frick out though.

PCs would need to stop coming with USB ports for that to be a thing which seems unlikely unless all mice and keyboards become bluetooth only in the future. Which I guess is possible because CD drives and SD card reader/writers kind of died out but there's nothing stopping you from buying old parts and using those to play old games in that scenario by installing Linux.

PS5's scalper problem is bigger than most people want to admit. The issue is that even if only 50% of all PS5's are in the hands of scalpers, that means Sony can only make 50% of the money they'd normally make. They can't make money off of PS5 exclusives, and nobody can buy a console, so they need new sources of financing in order to keep afloat. It's why there's PS4 ports of PS5 exclusives now days, despite being well into the second year of the PS5's lifespan.

The decision to sell out XVI was probably not made internally by the studio, but by Square Enix suits who want that exclusivity dough, the same people who will then go on to sell the game again to Epic in a year or so.
CBU3 are the makes of XIV which has something like 60% of its playerbase on PC, they know how big of a market they're losing by doing this and are probably downplaying that angle knowing that it'll go multiplat in six months. Most of these were likely the result of timed exclusivity contracts made in the last decade that are simply expiring right now, the developers are seeing the writting on the wall and realizing renewing those would be suicide so they're just putting everything elsewhere.
Besides maybe Persona, none of these games had exclusivity contracts. It's unclear if Persona wasn't ported before due to an exclusivity deal or Atlus being stubborn of loyal. Everything else here is Sony's games in their entirety.
