It's presumed to have been because the dev put new builds being a Cien paywall.
Not that it mattered in the end since some crazy /jp/ bastard took the latest released build and finished the game with a small group of /jp/ anons crowdsourcing any known information about future plans for the game to the point that only one boss had to be made from scratch.
