Complete lack of any form of frame of comparison, mostly.
That, and the obvious nostalgia you have because you played it as a child and now associate it with those days, which your memory robbed of most negative connotations.

Oblivion is hideous, insanely boring, and amazingly unimmersive.
But to people who didn't know any better, that was still impressive, because generic fantasy brought to life was such a novel experience for all the 7th gen groomed console kiddies.

You are right. And it's curious how this applies basically to any Elder Scrolls game.

Because it has snow in it. Snow makes stuff comfy.

There's barely any snow in Oblivion, just in Bruma and the surrounding mountainous region.

    Skyrim is more comfy

Because unlike Morrowind or Skyrim Oblivion is a fucking potato filled with soul. Morrowind is a moderate ass rpg that is overrated and Skyrim is an action game with half-assed rpg elements that is overrated. Oblivion sits between both of them and objectively looks worse in all aspects for the release year compared to how the others stacked up, AND continued the feature trimming designs that Morrowind did to Daggerfall. Despite all of that every NPC you see is a literal fucking potato of soul. From the generic music to generic british fantasy map it holds an inematic aura of pure autism that reaches into the deep aether to pull back pure fucking soul. If I could describe it better than tossing around buzzwords I would but you really just have to have played it before Skyrim dropped to realize the butter charm I suppose.
    >t. started with Morrowind
Morrowind is pretty decent but everyone sucking its dick keeps raising my expectations when I go back to play it and force it to fall flat. If only there were a game to happen between Morrowind/Oblivion or Oblivion/Skyrim. That mystical elder scrolls game would be several tiers above the series combined...

Sometimes it's a little too comfy and puts me to sleep even though I want to play.
