There's a very strong theory that the NUSA kept V in a coma and installed something that keeps their implants from working. The "nonsense" is a very real and predictable consequence of going with the NUSA even after seeing all the horrible shit they do.

The game is littered with outright lies to the player that you have to decipher yourself. Yorinobu is constantly made out to be the villain by every character, but he is purposely attempting to kill Arisaka. Johnny's memories are sometimes complete fabrications that directly contradict other characters and pre-established facts. Takemura comes to you in The Devil ending and says "Hanako didn't send me she already forgot about you" and "Hanako has extended an offer to put you in Mikoshi" in nearly the same breath. There is no way REED of all people is being 100% straight with you.

The NUSA has also fricked Reed over, fricked Alex over and in the same point of "principles", forced Songbird to frick Reed over. She realizes that as long as they're bound to that system, they'll keep betraying each other, getting killed or nearly killed, and generally live in misery. He doesn't until it's too late.
Takemura is better because he shows some cracks earlier. Just having a longer conversation with him shows that he has some desires to drop it all, become a nomad even, just a few days after being violently fired. The issue is that he was taken into Arasaka as a child, that's literally his entire life, and there hasn't been enough time for him to think about his new circumstances.
Reed, on the other hand, was disposed of 7 years ago. He's had plenty of time to think about where being an NUSA agent has taken him and his friends and if that life is worth pursuing.
Also Takemura is a dork and Reed lacks that kind of charm.

It's about how the good intentions of good people are swallowed up and riddled down to nothing by the inherent corruption of Night City, and that the only real chance that individuals have against the broken system is by leaving it entirely. Panam's story allows victory against Arasaka by sheer brute force and will power, which many people looking for quick catharsis after experiencing such a grim story will gravitate to.
Also Panam's hot, and is the only fleshed out straight out romance. Which is probably the biggest factor.

Whereas Judy's story isn't some easy quick-fix, because you're either fighting against the gangs' social and martial influence and losing, or just replacing an old leader with someone just as bad.

I think I'm done with the game and won't play it ever again but the three playthroughs I did since release coinciding with major patches and the DLC - I couldn't bring myself to do any other ending besides the secret Equilibrium-tier ending. Every other ending is objectively worse both for the character and in a meta sense.

1. It isn't subjective, it's objectively not an RPG no matter the name they give it. Unless you consider Borderlands an RPG.
2. It's not two points, it's one point. And it definitely isn't a "non-linear story filled with life and detail". It's as scripted as a linear corridor can be.
3. Again, the game isn't even an RPG. It has nothing to do with the tabletop aside from the setting.
4. Having a "build" is not having a class. Can a solo do what a media or rockerboy can? Can a fixer do what a netrunner can? No. Can one anon's V do what another anon's V does by putting a point in X? Yes. Builds aren't classes. And this isn't in a vacuum, it's supposed to be "based on the tabletop system"
5. Tons of weapons for sure. But still no way to add cyberware to your body beyond four (4) arms. No real toys to speak of beyond that, even grenades are skills with cooldowns now before you say "hurr 2.0 fixed it". Again, nothing to do with the tabletop game where those things were everywhere.

Every aspect of this notRPG is either a compromise, or just faux "depth", Keanu Silvermeme is just annoying, and I hate being presented with fake choices that affect nothing.
I was only interested in this due to the RPG aspect. It's not an RPG, so I can safely continue to ignore it, and I just needed to see someone who actually wanted an RPG explain whether 2.0 actually changed anything. It didn't.
Their (CDPR's) vision of the game is fixed now. But their vision was garbage and had nothing to do with the tabletop which I loved and played to death as a teen.
Is it a good game now? Sure, kinda. If you lived under a rock and bought it today on sale, you'd have a good time probably. It's not a bad game on its own. But it's incredibly disingenuous to pretend it's anything like what it was marketed to be up to the weeks before it launched, and it's unforgivable that it took them three years after launch to reach a point where you could say the game is playable and not a broken mess. CP2077 will always remain a black mark on the industry and a testament to how low these companies can go to cash in on good will.
And that's exactly why I don't need to play it. I am only interested in what was marketed, I have a plethora of other games to play that weren't in alpha for 3 years after launch and didn't blatantly, factually lie to me about what they are.
I'm more than happy not giving ESGR any money for shitting out a broken pile of shit 3 years early that wasn't in the same universe as what they claimed.
I've heard this exact same thing from a friend who played it way before 2.1, the opening sets up the world in a way that deceives you it's gonna be very open, your choices are going to matter, and you will have nigh absolute freedom, plus selecting certain options will lead you down a completely different story branch, and it ended up being absolutely nothing like this after, what's his name, the mexican dies.
I'm pretty sure most of the people who worked on W3 aren't at the studio anymore or didn't really work on this shit. W3 actually DID have an immpersive world with lots of shit to do and lots of npcs that actually mattered or affected your story.

I just don’t find ANY of the “choices” in the game to be especially interesting and while I find the world of cyberpunk to be endlessly interesting, the missions themselves left little to no impression on me: there isn’t a single one that I’m eager to replay, not one.

Get cucked and dumped. No other option for normal, i.e. straight chars.
The thing about Cyberpunk is that objectively, it's probably one of the better games out there due to sheer production value. It's like they stole everything good from Deus Ex: HR and gave it a facelift.
The problem is, which you pointed out, is that it was nothing that was promised. It was just the best thing among all the shit uninspired action/RPG games out there. Yeah it compares favourably to Fallout but that's not a high bar. And not only that, the expectation was that it had to as close to perfect as possible, because it was CDPR but they couldn't even reach their own bar of making Cyberpunk as endearing as Witcher 3.
The only part of the game that felt finished was the opening act, after that and the quest quality shits the bed and never recovers; everything becomes the most generic fetch/kill quest you've played a million times.
The reason why people are so attached to Panam is because she's basically perfect. She felt like the only thing that was engineered to be appealing to male gamers. The only reason to pirate this game is to basically play her questline.
Pretty sure they made Panam's ass fatter in the DLC.

I tried it on release, had a shitty PC running it at sub 30fps (980 + 4690k, yea. Bad) so stayed away from it until this past month where I redownloaded it (pirated ofc) on a 4090 rig. Game looks great but the game itself is unironically really good.

>Missions are insanely fun, especially the gigs. Literally just Human Revolution tier side missions where i'm inflitrating bases, taking out hits, tracking down moles in massive corpos all with choice/dialogue and really engaging backstory/lore)

A bit of column,n A and a bit of column B. 2.0 (and 2.1) turbo revamped the game but at its core it is still cyberpunk 2077 johnny mnemoic edition. The story never changed - though phantom liberty is real gud - but he player experience got refined a lot. I rate it akin to max payne 3 - if you are invested in the story it is 10/10 play again - if not it is 7/10 watch alt ending on youtube.

I don't remember seeing it in my first play through so I believe it was added later. There's a point where the troony takes you aside and gives you the sob story so it's clear what it is. The dude asks you to forgo winning the final race to take out the dude who killed his husband. You can choose to just win the race and spare the dude's life. You get his car and the troony is super pissed at you.
