IMO, palworld has been the popping of the bubble that is the culmination of a lot of negative feelings that have been built against gamefreak and the pokemon games. Each iteration seems lacking in creativity, pation, and care. Gimmicks and mechanics that are added and removed at a whim. coming off as just another product that has to exist to churn the merchandise wheel every year... and when these autists came out of the woodwork shrieking to the internet over its similarities, it exacerbated the problems, as a noname company managed to make a decent game with monster catching mechanics, make it look acceptable, and it actually runs well. And to then look back at the pokemon games and literally wonder why Gamefreak can't accomplish something that looks good or at least runs well when they have the most profitable IP in the world...

Around the same time, LGPE were released and had a promotional toy which was like the Pokewalker (something that was free for HGSS) but also functioned like a controller specifically only for LGPE. This also was the only way to get Mew without transfers. And costs $60.
With any other fanbase, this would cause outrage. Charging $60 for staple Pokemon and having it be behind a toy that by all means should be free is absurd. Yet pokegays ate it up and bought it anyways.
