Why such an episode was able to stand out compared to others? Simply because Maushold is a popular Pokémon in Japan. Today’s episode will likely also break through 300,000 due to Dot’s popularity. Expect next week’s episode to go back to falling under again.

The new Series is simply playing catch up to nip anime trends.

Even earlier, they've been rehashing Indigo since Orange Islands. Lapras was just Butterfree all over again, an early companion that Ash eventually had to part ways with so it could live a happier life.

I’ve watched a couple episodes of this new show and I can’t believe the cat is supposed to be Pikachu’s replacement. Out of all the starters it does the least and is constantly showed up by the actual other Pikachu. I don’t even remember the last time it won a battle.
Which is strange because from what I’ve seen she’s actually fairly competent, but they do nothing with her. There was an episode where the Galar gym leader helped train her and Roy but the lesson at the end was that being a competitive type trainer didn’t suit Liko and instead she wants to like care for Pokémon or something. It’s so jarring that it feels like they didn’t actually think it all the way through.

The Pokemon setting just isn’t really conducive to telling stories with established trainers, so they’re trying to avoid making Liko “stronger” so people won’t get stupid expectations like they did with Ash
