because the whole time you're making the games, you're distracted by the fact you could just be playing them instead

It can't be that hard, since it has more games than all of its competitors combined.

It was harder but devs did it anyway because it's worth it when the console has 7x the install base of the shitcube

    Dual core shitty cpu
    >but is 128 bit
Not really they stuck 2 64 bit cpu for 128 bit which made things harder, add to that less ram and you get why.
This is how it was the ammount of ram.
    >gamecube first
    >dreamcast second
    >xbox third
    >ps2 in last place

It is recorded that 4376 games were released for the PS2, if it had been easier to develop for, then there could easily have been over 10k games for it. We, as the gaming public, were robbed. That's over 6000 games that were killed in the womb due to unnecessary complexities in the PS2 architecture.

Like every sony console, they prioritize movies, then licensed music, then gameplay, in that order.

You can make a shitty game pretty easily for the PS2. You can ignore a lot of the hardware or use it suboptimally. The game will look terrible, but work.

To actually maximise the potential of the hardware you have to juggle a lot of concerns in parallel.
