I believe it affects not just religious, but the people birn into that culture as well. Western culture doesn't just have Judeo-Christianity as its core tenets, but also Atheism/Secularism because of the Age of Enlightenment. It's gonna be messy whether you try and go for one way or the other due to people not being aware how their modern ethics and morality system comes from a amix of the two and just critique both or one of them because of the pre-conceived biases we all have from our own personal experience and those of others we've heard.

The definition of space (standalone) applies to nothing, emptyness, etc. If you remove all mass from the universe all you are left with is a void, nothing, that nothing propose is to be empty just to be occupied by existence, its just the fricking background.

In rain world "void" is just the core of the world, a liquid that thoroughly annihilates anything it touches. It's not evil or bad, in fact it was only used for good purposes.
