I did.
It was okay. Worse than the PS1 trilogy but better than RE0. Worst thing it did was frick up the franchise's story beyond repair, it went full moron with Matrix Wesker and anime-tier on-the-spot monster transformations.
I played it. The Arctic sections kinda weren't great but the prison island was god tier atmosphere and peak classic RE imo. The music, early ps2/dreamcast graphics, and the dynamic fixed cameras were ludo. Which is why a remake would suck. Because a remake would only carry over the plot and setting. Nothing that really gave it charm.
How is that not a point towrds remaking it?

They literally put a RE5 teaser at the end of RE4, if they were hesitant they wouldn't have bothered.
This is a major point though. RE1 and CV don't exist in the RE engine "universe", so no one who's only played RE engine games would know who Wesker is beyond memes. I could see them remaking RE1 (again) just to establish Wesker, and also throw survival horror fans a bone since RE5 will be co-op action schlock.

The reason is because it's set in africa, and you're shooting african zombies (black people).
And since shooting anything with a dark skin tone is now taboo, they're afraid of the game being labeled as "racist".

Except graphics, combat, plot, level design, shit it wasn’t inferior at all, it was a thousand times better.
Graphics is a given since it was a generation later, but it was aesthetically worse. The gameplay and story were absolutely worse, setpieces were a lot less interesting and the plot was just lame instead of fun (and character assassinated Jill).
