The way they address us as "Gamers" as in they specifically add negative connotation to the word gamer as if consumers are the heart of their problems.

There isn't. "Gamers" refers to legacy gamers; a dwindling and increasingly irrelevant demographic, unfortunately. Most new game consumers are cattle who will just go along with anything.

some truth to this as a stand alone remark. Also, the percentage of games (And of commercially successful games) that have much more of a social component to them to before. The previous generations of gamers didn't live or die with online connectivity. certainly that contributes to herd mentality.

Video games are trying to target everyone now. Girls play Fortnite, Minecraft, and Among Us. From the 90s to the early 10s games were marketed to 12-29 year old boys. Big guns, big breasts, blood and guts. That made money, but it also drove away a lot of potential customers who saw it as juvenile or too crudely masculine. As more and more games bring in revenue in the billions, the market is going to adapt to get as many of those billions as it can.
