Vanilla WoW is perfect for the ultra casual solo gamer. Nothing else comes since OSRS is a slobby grind with stuff like agi and FFXI is just out of the question for most casuals.
WoW classic has like 5x as many players as retail wow, 0 chance thats true. Retail sucks shit though and is filled with pure subhumans.
There are several different tracker sites that give atleast a rough idea how the numbers look? And the trends are very clear, Classic had a surge with the HC release that calmed down again, it usually sits at little more than half the players of Retail.
I don't know how true this is but I heard from a press related individual that not even in the dreaded Shadowlands exodus did XIV came even close to WoW.
Assuming the absolute worst we can judge that lucky bancho numbers are extremely inflated and that WoW is doing better than in SL right now.
Oh and this is excluding Classic realms.
Apparently Overwatch, despite popular belief, has an obscene number of players right now. Whether they are paying costumers or not, I dunno. i just want them to fix the rigged matchmaking
zoomers dont get gaming in the early 2000s and the whole optimism, social experience and so on and call it nostalgia. they will never experience hype that is completely based on gras root and not corporate.
I did that but with a casual guild where three warlocks were always in top 5 during raids. We got the raids done but every raid, from MC up to naxx, felt like a progression raid. It was exhausting but fun.
>play vanilla and suck >play tbc and suck a little less >raid seriously for the first time in ICC >dickhead hunter keeps wiping us on Sindragosa because he can't or won't use disengage >repeatedly die until 2am
I never raided again, even Mythic+ with randoms during Legion and BFA were less cancerous
Been playing vidya since the Atari and I've never once played an MMO. Don't see the appeal of playing with random dickheads. Games are supposed to be fun and playing with some Brazilian sounds as fun as playing a game with a Gankerner. Disgusting. If I can't look you in the eyes when I frag you and call you a homosexual, what's the point?
>Spam invite guild invitation >Spam invite guild invitation >Spam invite guild invitation >Someone in a dungeon asks me to join their guild >Jesus christ, finally >8 members, 3 active including me >/gquit
>ugh what is this shit you want me to register to a forum and write an application to join your guild that has this piss easy content on farm? what are you some kinda autistic tryhards no thanks >OMG i keep joining guilds that spaminvite everyone and all of them are dead wtf
you deserve everything you get
guild applications are the gayest shit to ever come out of video games
who would end up crying online about elitist tryhards "gatekeeping" them away from free loot so they end up wiping for hours in dad guilds and pugs that barely clear 2 or 3 bosses
The most fun I had in these types of games were in "exclusive" guilds like this, but the guild politics and shit are super fricking gay I agree. Plus the egos on those homosexuals are unfrickingbelievable. I played GW2 WvW with a guy who would rage insanely hard if we ever wiped, no matter if we legit lost because of something we did or were just outnumbered by competent players and couldn't tank damage/spike through their heals. Guy had serious rage issues. It was funny when he was right and shitting on someone though can't lie. He's lucky he was good at the game or no one would have tolerated him as long as they did.
I had a guild resume where I just wrote trololol the whole time and got in. The whole time I was in that homosexual guild I felt like I was being judged and then I stole the guild leaders girl and got nudes from her. Frick raiding.
At one point in mid 2000s it was raking in so much money there was gold farms businesses popping up in Romania where dozens of young lads would play the game in a PC bang to grind gold for sale.
What someone smart figured out, after ban waves and reducing the number of gold sellers was that ordinary playerbase preferred higher player counts and more populated servers, no matter if the other players are genuine players or gold farmers from Romania that do it as a monthly job to earn $300 dollars.
Now get this math. How much does the average genuine player have to spend on the game for it to be profitable to pay a shill to play the game?
$300? $500? No, its much lower because you can have 100 players and paypigs per one or two shills.
Thats how many Blizzard cultists where created.
Plants in streamer realm, plants on youtube, plants in TV shows and ads everywhere.
Plants leading guilds and harassing people over social media to reinstall and resub..
No one pretends retail WoW is any good. FFXIV is based on the post-Cata vision of an MMO and is mostly a queue lobby/dress up game compared to classic WoW
Because People spend their live in it.
If its vanish, its like your Hometown vanish, with everything you worked for in your life.
Nobody plays it for fun, its their existence.
nobody plays dragonflight, game was on sale 1 month after release and i wouldve even got like 2 months of gametime for free (but i dont want to play a game populated by literal furries)
>go to any zone that isn't the current endgame grind zone >ghost town
They made it even worse, you don't even see people doing alts anymore since you just pick an expack to play in and you go into your own little level-adjusted containment zone until you hit whatever the level cap -10 is.
>Madseason came back to the game almost immediately after making an hour long video about how the game isn’t what it once was and that he needs to move on from it
There’s no hope for these mindslaves is there? What did Bobby put in their Kool-Aid?
you need to accept the best mmo ever created was classic and every single addon was a huge failure and just added another content island when you could just expand on the base game.
It's actually nuts. Like genuinely nuts that people have played wow their entire fricking lives, all the while hating blizzard and ignoring other games. All it took was one ironman buff and they came running back. Then they added hardcore and they came running back. Next they'll do classic cata and theyll come running back.
Cata will be genuinely interesting. Will people come back for that? Will this place act like WoW is saved?
It was the expansion that kicked of the downward spiral.
Just tried it out with wife. Probably just gonna level up enough to twink, going to 60 is gonna be a pain and I dont wanna raid for gear. Queue times suck ass.
Online communities with lots of autistic people are going to have lots of transsexuals these days. You can't uncross the troony river. If you can't make peace with it, your children will.

Your kind will be regarded as a silly footnote of history once your moronic sex cult falls out of political vogue.

This is basically it. Vanilla felt closest to what a world would feel like. Quests weren’t grouped hub to hub like in TBC onwards. You’d find quests while out exploring in the world or doing other quests. You had BRM making two entire end game zones have heavy regular traffic for pvp, you had the massive open air non instanced dungeon in the Hinterlands etc etc etc.
Gold selling/buying and boosting ruined classic.
>Vanilla felt closest to what a world would feel like
Flying mounts share a substantial amount of blame. The world of vanilla was designed and constructed completely differently to anything that came after. You can't create the illusion of a lived in world if the game has to account for people flying over the façade. Replaying BC years later was really eye-opening. The zones have absolutely frick all to do with one another. It immediately sucks the magic out of the game.
Think you're right, quests really are spread out more. Just occured to me that Blizzard has been copying TBC Outlands' themepark layout with a progression going through zones 1-5.
I wonder how much that has got to say?
The first 3 weeks of classic launch were the most fun I've had gaming in a long ass time. It got less interesting after everyone hit level cap and the raidlogging began, but it was a genuinely fun time to be playing an mmo.
Anyone still playing the overpozzed carcass of WoW which is censored and filled to the brim with furries, scalies and revolting homosexualry should be shot point blank in the skull.
there are more people in a single ff14 world than there are in all versions of wow
and all of them are just troons posing their characters for twitter screencaps

What that anon posted is absolute horseshit but no, WoW classic has not 5x as many players as retail wow, it actually has less.
how would you know when they dont release numbers anymore?
There are several different tracker sites that give atleast a rough idea how the numbers look? And the trends are very clear, Classic had a surge with the HC release that calmed down again, it usually sits at little more than half the players of Retail.
WoW won.
What point is that webum trying to make

lol
I don't know how true this is but I heard from a press related individual that not even in the dreaded Shadowlands exodus did XIV came even close to WoW.

nostalgia, it was a genuine pop culture phenomenon around 2005-2007 and a frick ton of people lived out their teenage years in it
This. Some people will never move on.
Same with runescape.

During WoW Classic I raided with a guild all the way up to Naxx
Never again
An entire year of farming that felt like a job, and guild drama.
Very repetitive, gotta be on time each week for 3-4 hours to do the same raid you already did 100 times before.
I did that but with a casual guild where three warlocks were always in top 5 during raids. We got the raids done but every raid, from MC up to naxx, felt like a progression raid. It was exhausting but fun.

Because there's nothing even remotely on its level in terms of competition except FFXIV

I play turtle wow and I like it a lot.
Just tried it out with wife. Probably just gonna level up enough to twink, going to 60 is gonna be a pain and I dont wanna raid for gear. Queue times suck ass.
They made China servers recently and prioritized western players logins for the main server. I haven't had a queue in like 2 weeks
I tried yesterday morning and was stuck at 1300 queue for 45 minutes.

Wow is shit for a billion reasons but it literally feels the most responsive among all tab targets mmos still after all these years
Vanilla wow is the best MMO RPG and then the game stopped being an MMO then an RPG with subsequent "expansions".

Flying feels so good though, it's a shame it has to be either or
I have to disagree. I don't find noclipping around the map while tabbed out to be that good. Dragon flying is fun.

stay mad Ganker
>wow released in 1983
please say it isn't true Gankerros
How did XIV finally kill WoW?
By appealing to casuals and being palatable to people who don't want to play the game as a second job.
i don't know you homosexual.
