Art style is a downgrade from the first game (and subsequently massively improved in the third), the main combat system is extremely tedious and the character progression system is fricking awful.
Yes, all three are, even if the second is a bit of a struggle. The third game is one of the best jrpgs on the console and one of the best looking games on it as well.
The OSTs are uniformly good (even the gameplay ost from 2). Episode 1 is Mitsuda, Episode 2 has cutscene music by Yuki Kajiura and gameplay music by Shinji Hosoe. Episode 3 is exclusively Kajiura.

While I prefer turn based combat, I think X and 3 did their pseudo-mmo cooldown combat well. Have mixed feelings on 2. Feels like a slog for 90% but then you get Mythra and it becomes YOUR SPINNING YOUR SPINNING YOUR SPINNING spam which feels great.
All I remember about this game is how much I despised the changed voice actors. Plus the story was boring as frick for however long it was I played it.

That and the Miltia city under assault are my two favorite maps in games. So fricking well done.
Xenosaga 3 is phenomenal, even if it's the only one you play in the whole series but by playing them all you get enormous payoffs.

I like the jungle combos, learning skills is fun, the lack of equipment to find is boring and I want to skip all mecha sections
