Why is this game such a fricking nightmare? I've literally never had this much trouble with any RE game ever. And I'm not talking about dying, but navigating it basically.

I used to run back and forth on the train for hours
Starting it I literally redid the train twice. It's easy to remember now but still. I'm at basically the church section now looking for something about sending something from a library to an operating room and have no idea what I'm doing at this point.
Because the game has no common point of reference with save rooms. You dump essential items wherever and those become your own points of reference only you are making it up as you go along so they are often shitty places to put anything. Only the main hall of the Training Facility feels like you are at a starting point and the further you progress, the more you are away from it and so going back feels like a chore. The game is also slowed down by how often you are in menu screens just trying to juggle and offload shit between two characters.
>Basically no inventory space
>No Itembox
constantly dropping shit and backtracking
also the fact the partner AI is dumb as frick
I don't find that much of a problem with the AI outside of sometimes wasting ammo.
IMAGINE no item chest.
>also the fact the partner AI is dumb as frick
Play Billy. Rebecca won't shoot enemies unless ordered, whereas AI Billy will go ham.
i left the hunting gun equipped on billy and he reloaded it
>"Hey what should we make this game's equivalent to the Hunters and Lickers and stuff from earlier games?"
>"i dunno, angry monkeys?"
I'm not finished with it yet but I'm getting the feeling that all along they were like, "How can we artificially lengthen the game?"
the fixed camera angles don't mesh well with the laying-shit-all-over-the-floor inventory system
Ive played it my first time on hard because that's what I do with all Resident Evils and 0 was the most painfull experience I've ever had with an RE also. For what Ive heard, Hard mode is completely unbalanced but either way I just couldnt bother replaying it, it felt really fricking shit. The only thing good about it was the pre-rendered background, which are fricking amazing and I wish REmake had those
They listened to "why cant I just drop stuff on the floor?" gays.
Capcom wanted a Rebecca game and tried to do new things for the sake of doing new things because around the time the classic RE formula was considered done and repetitive. The issue is that nothing make sense, design wise.
>Supposed to be the original prequel but does nothing with the Bravo team except for the start and some random cutscene with Enrico at the middle of the game
>Billy has no reason to actually exist, Richard or even Enrico were a more logical choice for Rebecca partner than an OC character
>Another fricking antagonist with another fricking virus, Wesker and Birkin could had done a way better job alone than Marcus
>Wasted opportunity to actually expand 1, 2, 3 and CVX lore
>Gimmicks are no fun
>Random frog and monkeys instead of just Beta and Gamma Hunters. it was the perfect opportunity to bring the three variations in a single game
>Ignores CVX and 3 gameplay mechanics improvements
>Is obvious that devs were big Beccagays, why not go full waifugay and give her a ton of costumes for the original GC release?
has no reason to actually exist
opportunity to actually expand 1, 2, 3 and CVX lore
So weird how you're blaming the failures of other games on RE0. RE0 breaks its back bending over to try to square with the canon.
-Gives Just a metric ton of Background on Wesker and Birkin's history. Including explaining how Birkin and Wesker were cooperating prior to both of their defections from Umbrella.
-Showing the "Evolution" process of the virus goes beyond one experiment of Birkin.
-Giving Marcus the screen time to establish what Umbrella under "normal' circumstances were. As well as Heeling up Birking and Wesker and built up Spencer as a mastermind villain more.
-Billy tees up exploring the Africa connection for the progenitor virus. It's not 0's fault the game that eventually came disregarded this.
-Billy is the one to find the damning evidence about Wesker so Rebecca, and by extension the rest of STARS Bravo team didn't have it. You can be damn sure Enrico would've just said "Wesker is a traitor" if he got his hands on that file.
I do dislike how little the rest of Bravo team have to do in RE0, but I don't know how enriching having Enrico, or Richard, or Forest with Rebecca would really be even twisting some of the details around.
This game is literally full of bad design choices which is a shame cause there's a solid core there.
I just finished 100%ing It, for some reason i enjoyes Leech Hunter and the game in general.
The only bad things:
>monkes
Thank God they are not that many and they spawn in zones you can ignora
>leech Marcuses
Use fire or ignore them
>those parts where the game doesn't tell you that you're gonna use a single character
Especially Centurion and before starting up the cart
>The bat
Shitty boss fight overall.
I liked Marcus, the setting (train, the not-mansion, etc)
This game killed fixed-angle Resident Evil. It's what convinced Mikami to make RE4 an action game.
Am I the only one who really likes RE0?
I like it too but the first few playthroughs were really rough because their shitty decisions, mainly the no item box
I loved it, anon. I genuinely feel like it's on the same level as REmake. but I'm a contrarian homosexual sometimes.
I prefer Majora's mask to oot
wind waker to twilight princess
twin snakes to mgs
demons souls to dark souls
I'm all over the place.
aight cool. Cause I liked RE0, maybe cause I went in knowing its gonna be a pain in the ass cause its a classic-styled resident evil game. When I go into a horror game I expect it to be cryptic and fricking annoying at times. I love REmake too though, thats my favorite.
I played it for the first time back when it was released so I didn't have decades of morons telling me it was bad to taint my opinion on it.
it's one of the comfiest horror games I've ever played. the backgrounds are so next level I feel like a lot of it looks better than REmake.
emulate the GameCube version and use a GameCube controller and you're genuinely in for one of the finest games ever made.
>twin snakes to mgs
This is just objectively good taste though
>demons souls to dark souls
demon's souls is terror, dark souls is fantasy, maybe that's why
Raped by Pony Dick
>I prefer Majora's mask to oot
Based.
This timeline is so unfair. On one hand I want a new RE game with 'becca in it so I can have more 'becca. On the other hand it's 2022, any remake of Rebecca is going to be fricked up like everything else Capcom has done lately. They don't know how to make tomboys anymore.
>Rebecca
>tomboy
How rotten is your brain? Rebecca is the absolute least-tomboyish girl in the entire RE series.
>18 y/o female cop that knows how to shoot
>not a tomboy
Tell me more.
Are you one of those people that think Mimi in Digimon was a tomboy?
Rebecca isn't a tomboy just because she has a gun, and is in a dangerous situation forced to use it. Lore certainly doesn't say she has a fascination with guns. She doesn't have a personalized armament, which means she doesn't have a preferred weapon. She didn't help Barry design the Samurai Edge that the team uses. She didn't join the marksmen contests Chris and Forest had. She didn't even apply to join STARS: she was just assigned to the squad.
She's unsure of herself despite her protests. She's ill equipped, inexperienced, and is the only surviving member of STARS to actually resign her police commission prior to RE2.
>Are you one of those people that think Mimi in Digimon was a tomboy?
No. Are you one of those people who think that Sora wasn't a tomboy? I'm pretty sure she was unsure of herself for a while (I let everyone down in soccer and don't deserve love anime trope).
>Rebecca isn't a tomboy just because she has a gun, and is in a dangerous situation forced to use it.
She doesn't have to be a gun nut, but your average non-tomboy isn't going to know how to do boyish, athletic shit at 18 years old like... firing a gun, wearing body armor, giving medical attention to people, be in dangerous situations without freaking out, know chemistry, play basketball, and so on.
She's a fricking tomboy. I can't believe I have to argue this on Ganker. Just because she doesn't cuss like a sailor every 10 seconds like nuJill doesn't disqualify her for tomboy status.
What does R.P.D. stand for?
BILLY HELP
I struggled with a very early version of Dolphin cca 15 years ago that barely ran the game with shitton fo glitches and bugs and somehow finished it. I loved it.
Then I got to play the remaster properly and realized how poorly designed the game is. Input lag aside, shitty enemy design and broken lore aside, just the barebones progression design feels like a cheap RE clone, every design choice is the most convoluted imaginable one. Its gorgeous but frustrating and not fun to replay.
Have you ever thought it's funny that RE HD REMASTER has a desktop icon of this quality?
SOUL
The inventory system is dumb as hell and its the only RE game I've only played once. Like many others said, I enjoy everything else, I even like the silly animal enemies, the Wesker/Birkin backstory, the setting, Becca and Billy. Everything except the inventory management.
I got into the final fight, tried it a million times but never had enough ammo, had to backtrack trough pretty much the entire map getting everything and deciding what to do with what I had until I finally beat the fricker.
I played the first five of the series plus Code Veronica. This was the hardest one for me. At one point I literally had to use a knife for a good portion of a game because I lost all ammo. Underestimated the moronic ai who spent it like crazy. Billy is a weird character, and mechanically superior to Rebecca in every single way but I still used her more.
The train section was pretty good. Afterwards it gets worse, and much harder in the mid portion of the game. Last stretch was piss easy. I don't think the last boss managed to live long enough to even be considered a threat.
You can order AI not to shoot.
This and REmake remain the only classic REs I haven't finished yet. Shit was too hard for me at the time I tried them on the gamecube. Played through 1, 2, and CV since, and just now finally finished the 3rd game when I used to always get stuck at the clock tower Nemesis fight.
I remember the train having some great atmosphere and then there's a mansion of sort but it felt different from the Spencer mansion from REmake. Maybe I'll try it again but right now I really feel more like playing RE6.
raccoon city police dept
Sigh
I think it's a game that went through too many development iterations.
The N64 beta version looked so much better, in story and gameplay too. There are a lot happening, but the story starts showing what happened to one of the STARS team and also Rebecca started with her cap, which she loses by RE1. I don't know what happened, but I have a suspicion that the original writer left the team before it was finished.
>The N64 beta version looked so much better
time for new glasses anon
because you're dumb
I never had any issues with it, and I beat it when it came out, with no help
you will never survive a zombie apocalypse
