>It’s a waste of dev time
if you think a game was going to be shit because they spent a short amount of time to implement this then the game would have been shit regardless
Nonsense. What if there’s a spider boss >we can’t have a spider boss, we need the arachnophobia option
What if you want those spiders to climb walls and attack from the celing >Can do that, the crabs we replace them with don’t climb walls. >Maybe we should just not have spiders in our game at all then? >Yeah, screw it, not worth the effort.
Great, we don’t get any more spider enemies because some wuss pees their pants.
Takes 5 seconds to program into the game, why you guys seem to take these random options so seriously? It probably takes more effort to turn this on as a player compared to actually implementing it.
Then why not have an option for every other phobia? Where's my option to turn water into spaghetti because of my hydrophobia?
Because seeing a spider in your glass is worse than seeing water on it, a giant hole in the ground filled with spiders is very different to seeing a river filled with water >but it's all like.. fake man
Yes, the emotional response related to experiences with spiders isn't however and people do find Subnautica scary so that is a real water example, but it wouldn't make a lot of sense for the gameplay to replace it with anything else, replacing a minor creature with another minor creature is a relatively minor change compared to changing the entire environment.

>obscure psuedo-accessibility-but-not-really option is included in the game as a joke
I can feel the SOUL radiating out of this game from where I'm sitting
I just recently Googled what changes in the Hogwarts Legacy mode with it toggled on since I remembered it got one and one guy was talking about how he literally gets panic attacks if he sees a spider on screen with labored breathing and all.
I dislike spiders but come on now, the people who need these modes are ridiculous.
Because someone else did it for legitimate or goofy reasons or both, it went viral, they got attention and players, so now every soulless husk of a developer will do it for attention.
I am absolutely terrified of spiders IRL but video game spiders make me feel nothing. They're never animated or move like real spiders, which are skulky and skittery motherfrickers.
Another grain of sand of weakening the population. Can't have people overcoming their fears. Even minor ones like pixels on a screen. And once again, it's under the guise of more "compassionate".
I'll put an arachnophobia mode in my game and it will either make the spiders bigger, make small spiders invade the UI or both. Oh and if you try to turn it off, it will make it worse.
>Tips turn into spider facts >though the chances of seeing a spider in your home is low, the chances of there being a spider in your home right now is extremely high.
I have a fear of heights. Where is my option to disable high places? What if I want to play Spider-Man 2 but I'm triggered by the webslinging and wall crawling up the side of skyscrapers? Where is my option to not have to do another fight at the top of Millennium Tower ever again? Where is my option to not have to climb to the top of the tallest building and eagle dive off to reveal the map in Assassin's Creed games?
I just don't get why arachnophobes get preferential treatment. There are people with a fear of dogs, but I see no dog modes in games. Spiders scare me too, but isn't that the fricking point?
People who get thalassophobia also get preferential treatment but at least with that it's sort of an actual innate human fear in underwater games though you can overcome it. I get it in Subnautica on occasion myself but I could never understand why you wouldn't just push through it.
Because frick you that's why, it's nice to have the option to not have some irrational monkey brain fear circuitry triggered in your brain by fricking videogames. I still wouldn'tt turn the option on when I play but it's nice that it's there
There's zero reason to believe that arachnophobia is real, but things like snakephobia are not.
I don't see anyone talking about how important it is to remove snakes from games, and this is proof that if you don't create the cultural conditions for homosexuals to try to appear as victims of something, there will be no demand for the fictional solutions that homosexuals will demand of you.
Easy pandering
Arachnophobia mode and vitiligo are the easiest ways to gain ESG points without actually spending dev time and money. It's literally that simple.
why not?
it changes nothing if you don't toggle it
It’s a waste of dev time to pander to the 5 people who cry when they see a spider in a video game.
>It’s a waste of dev time
if you think a game was going to be shit because they spent a short amount of time to implement this then the game would have been shit regardless
>waste of dev time
it doesnt take that much time that will hinder anything else
you just want to b***h

i have Black personphobia because i was raped by a pack of Black folk, why are they not pandering to me

That's subjective.
no
Because you're a contrarian, Anon. You're a contrarian, you're white, and you're poor. You should basically have a nice day.
Takes 5 seconds to program into the game, why you guys seem to take these random options so seriously? It probably takes more effort to turn this on as a player compared to actually implementing it.
Because nothing is as it seems anon, WOOOO-OOO-OOOO
>muh arachnophobia mode
where's my transphobia mode
>obscure psuedo-accessibility-but-not-really option is included in the game as a joke
I can feel the SOUL radiating out of this game from where I'm sitting
That is completely fine.
do wowtroons really?
Tel-aviv must be bombed
to get chumps like you to advertise it for free
QED
what if i have a crabphobia too?
Are people really afraid of digital spiders?
I just recently Googled what changes in the Hogwarts Legacy mode with it toggled on since I remembered it got one and one guy was talking about how he literally gets panic attacks if he sees a spider on screen with labored breathing and all.
I dislike spiders but come on now, the people who need these modes are ridiculous.
people are afraid of super mario 64 these days, what do you think
Hilariously arachnophobia has been found to be treatable with exposure therapy and through virtual depictions.
I'm afraid of pointless empty open worlds, can those get a toggle too?
Because someone else did it for legitimate or goofy reasons or both, it went viral, they got attention and players, so now every soulless husk of a developer will do it for attention.
Where’s my Black personphobia mode? Why are they being racist towards spiders?
Where's my chapodiphobia mode? I hate those 8 armed frickers
Can we put an lgbtphobia mode so I don't have to see homosexuals in my games?
that would be too antisemitic
I have homophobia and I need a toggle this is an accessibility issue
Arachnophobia mode should just make them sexy
Eight legs, man.
Spiders make me stiff too.
I'll put an arachnophobia mode in my game and it will either make the spiders bigger, make small spiders invade the UI or both. Oh and if you try to turn it off, it will make it worse.
Make it order a box of spiders to their house if they try to turn it off.
>Tips turn into spider facts
>though the chances of seeing a spider in your home is low, the chances of there being a spider in your home right now is extremely high.
Surprised there isn't one for skeletons for the fricking.chinks.
skeletons have been censored in wow since day 1. undead have skin.
there was on the chinese servers (that closed down because the game isn't profitable any more)
Are people really fear triggered by a low poly 3d rendering of a spider?
Seems bullshit.
I have a fear of heights. Where is my option to disable high places? What if I want to play Spider-Man 2 but I'm triggered by the webslinging and wall crawling up the side of skyscrapers? Where is my option to not have to do another fight at the top of Millennium Tower ever again? I'm scared of the number 13, when are they removing all 13s from the game?
>I'm fine with them existing, I just don't want them anywhere near me
how relatable
gays I mean, spiders are cool
why, did you get bummed by one?
I just don't get why arachnophobes get preferential treatment. There are people with a fear of dogs, but I see no dog modes in games. Spiders scare me too, but isn't that the fricking point?

Ticks accessibility boxes for ESG and offers good PR.
Shouldn't arachnophobia mode make every enemy a spider? I mean it's a mode designed to make you scared of spiders.
I find myself increasingly disgusted by our weak soft world.
Where's the Arachnophilia setting?
SPIDOOBA
Because frick you that's why, it's nice to have the option to not have some irrational monkey brain fear circuitry triggered in your brain by fricking videogames.
I still wouldn'tt turn the option on when I play but it's nice that it's there
I love spiders so much bros, whenever I see one I want to protect it with all my might
These shiny black ones are some of my favorite
>another thread full of edgy zoomers who'll never contribute to anything
I hate reruns
Why isn't there a transphobia option where all the trannies get turned normal?
because gaming is now in the mainstream and most people nowadays are homosexuals
>bugs and spiders
If I was a rich game developer I'd have an arachnophobia mode toggle that just turns all enemies into spiders.
There's zero reason to believe that arachnophobia is real, but things like snakephobia are not.
