Legend has it, a group of scientists hired by Valve were able to make a direct correlation between the size of the cookie and the diameter of Gaben, reducing the cookie by 3% also reduced Gaben by the same amount
Because they're unwilling, or unable to hire people that properly reflect the world around it. And gaben stamps it out when he sees it cropping up amongst his ranks.
I don’t understand how a flat company hierarchy can work, it makes no sense to me at all. Does Valve even hire people anymore? I would think most of them got in there back when they were a small company.
Valve hires people all the time but they are extremely picky with who they hire and they don't always stick around even if they do get picked. It's a company where you basically have to be motivated all the time to do things rather than the company motivating you.
Basically you group with people and can work and projects as you see fit. You and some other guys want to work on a game or feature, so you group up and do it
There's an expose out there that says there's a hidden hierarchy, as you would expect

> the MS example is apropos though, DOJ got on their ass over bundling IE and locking out other browser makers in the 90's;
I always thought that was weird. They didn't lock out anything. I used windows and netscape, it worked just fine. On a new clean install you had to endure IE only for as long as it took to download another browser.
Actually the current situation where windows insists on putting a shortcut to Edge on the desktop every time it updates is much worse.
Valve are known scammers who commit false advertising and fraud and deserve to be prosecuted by the Federal Trade Commission.
Valve screwed over the Artifact fanbase by cancelling the Artifact 2.0 beta without even allowing users to invite friends like they said they would in January 2021 and does not deserve your financial support for these gross consumer-unfriendly practices.
I tuned out after the BLM shit.

If any company thinks it's acceptable to look like this after George Floyd's death - think again. How can you think it's ok to run your company like this after seeing a black man get kneeled on for 9 minutes straight?
Has anyone that complains about non-white has ever talked to a non-white? I was in a startup just for the money and had to endure some of the most moronic people and every single one of their "different idea", that was just some random shit from where they came from or their race culture, and everyone else was supposed to be happy for them because of it, and they always wanted to stick their shitty ideas to our product and since everyone always agreed, we had to, even if it didn't made any sense to have it, they said it would be "more friendly" or other buzzword
Valve built a money printer with Steam so they don't really have to give many fricks. I imagine the day to day for most employees is performative larping.
But they do hire smart people and basically let them do what they want. Eventually you get good ideas bubble up when you have that environment.
If you actually review their game releases, Valve's track record is not so great. But the winners overwhelmingly make up for the losers so in people's perception it seems like they have this perfect track record.
At this point there basically isn't a game Valve could make that would make more money than Steam, so their games are mostly investments to set industry trends and chart out a path for other developers to follow in. HL:Alyx is a good example, it wasn't a huge financial success, but they used it to try to push VR forward.
In March 2018, Gabe Newell held a presentation on Artifact claiming there would be regular expansions, an eventual mobile release, and a $1 million tournament, all of which ultimately failed to materialize.
In August of that year, Gabe Newell repeated the claim of an Artifact tournament during the opening of The International: https://youtube.com/watch?v=X4xYOmUwad0
On March 30, 2020, Valve announced Artifact Beta 2.0, stating they planned for a closed beta (which happened), transitioning to an open beta and later full release (which didn’t).
On March 4, 2021, Valve formally abandoned Artifact. No expansions, no mobile version, no million-dollar tournament, not even something as basic as allowing users to invite friends to the beta like they said they would.

Alright fellas you can stop the long winded replies.
I was playing devil's advocate.
Have a good nice.
jokes on you, it's literally just me on you in this thread and I was baiting you the whole time
>long winded
>not a single reply ITT over 4 sentences
fricking kek dude.
have a nice day
Because they have a near monopoly on PC vidya and literally don't need to do anything except keep the servers working.
Reminder that while Steam isn't a monopoly on PC, the Playstation and Xbox stores are monopolies on their respective systems.
please stop
Don't forget Nintendo.
Of course, all consoles have store monopolies, which is why it's so moronic that you only hear this argument about the only platform that's open.
Because they hire based on skill and not whether they have brown skin, a woman or a gay/troony just to meet superficial work place quotas
Valve are known scammers who commit false advertising and fraud and deserve to be prosecuted by the Federal Trade Commission.
Valve screwed over the Artifact fanbase by cancelling the Artifact 2.0 beta without even allowing users to invite friends like they said they would in January 2021 and does not deserve your financial support for these gross consumer-unfriendly practices.
steamies... this isn't a good look
the video he made is also extremely white and male
wtf? i hope someone kills him for this
Why dont these people complain that Fromsoft is extremely Japanese and extremely male?
I tuned out after the BLM shit.
I'm just getting angry at this and I'm not even american. What a fricking trash piece of propaganda. I'm sure it'll convince a lot of zoomers this homosexual is right.
... which means?
they never get that far, do they? it's always a meek "uuh diversity is good... because... different experiences..." which is its own can of worms if you care to open it
the problem is no one with a brain wants to fight in this mud pit, so they go unchecked
it's all so tiresome
I hate being wh*te and m*le!
How can homosexuals like this live with themselves for being white and male?
Parasites aren't successful.
If any company thinks it's acceptable to look like this after George Floyd's death - think again. How can you think it's ok to run your company like this after seeing a black man get kneeled on for 9 minutes straight?
and after that every YT kneeled to their Black-gods in deep shame and remorse
It's not a publicly traded company that's why
that almost looks like the abatukam room
HL:Alyx is a good example, it wasn't a huge financial success, but they used it to try to push VR forward.
all i got from watching this video was "muh george floyd"

>Mostly the author crying Valve never made a statement about BLM
lol
lmao
>million billion trillion dollar company
>can't even afford chairs for everybody at meeting time
>Valve literally hands out ten thousand dollars each to over 300 of their employees so that they can give it to any charity they want
>NOOOOOOOOOOO YOU HAVE TO TWEET ABOUT BLM
Literally why?
Why are these people like this?
its hush money you stupid chud
valve gave money to their employees so that they would shut up about blm
shows how insanely mired in apathetic lolbertarian sensibilities gaben is
