Because Capcom chose DMC to be the bigger hack and slash, probably based on sales numbers and the fact that Dante as a character has more viability in global market than samurai guy and YOOOOOOOO japan, that being Said I like onimusha more personally and would love them to show the IP some love but these days the genre of hack and slash isn't even very popular which is why modern Capcom is focusing on MH and resident evil.
Onimusha was actually Yoshiki Okamoto's idea of Sengoku Biohazard, while Inafune was just a hands-off producer on that, but since 2, Inafune took helm and made it more anime every new game.
1 was the best because it was really a good mix of action horror. Onimusha should go back to its real roots that stems from Resident Evil
I've only played 1 and 2 but it was honestly shocking to met just how quickly the series devolves. 1 is such a pure, focused experience and 2 immediately loses track of both story and gameplay.

I bought the remaster full price on Steam and PS4. Even bought Dragon's Dogma and Dark Arisen on 360 and PC full price. Frick you, I did my part and I'm still waiting on remasters and sequels while people b***h and complain about Resident Evil and Devil May Cry sequels.
I wouldn't say Darkstalkers is better, but it's definitely just as good. The amount of people who love Street Fighter and then hate on Darkstalkers just boggles my mind.
