if cities were built for beauty instead of cost, i could understand, but they're not. Its a bunch of buildings you can't even step foot in.

Continental european and east asian cities are great, anywhere else and they suck.

Because it takes hours to get anywhere interesting and then hours to get to another interesting place and then the day is done. In a video game you can do all that in minutes.

When I was in the Philippines a couple of years ago, staying with relatives, I would go jogging at the nearby beach which was behind the houses across the thoroughfares from where I was staying. There's a lot more variety in the scenery when you jog a mile or more in whichever direction.

Maybe try hiking for more than a mile if you want to see something interesting.

Does your podunk town not have a single wooded park? Not "benches and a couple of grills and a playground" park, but just like a designated "this is fricking nature" park? Even the shittiest places I've lived in have had this within 15 minutes of driving.

One of the only few universally positive products of Capitalism I can count on one hand

This is like asking why I would go to a museum instead of a natural park. They offer completely different things. I go outside to enjoy the fresh air and look at plants and rock formations with a smile on my face. I play games because they offer exciting, novel experiences and fantasies that I can't get in real life or really in any other form of media.

      Incredibly based knower.

I’ll never understand why people love big cities

They're fun to visit every so often, would never want to live in one. Yes, you have dozens upon dozens of venues for entertainment (it's where the arcades exist now), lots of food choices, seasonal events, etc; but goddamn, it is just sensory overload. I feel drained after a day downtown and I frequent a rather smaller city.

I think that's very fair since those kinds of games don't really offer a whole lot of fun gameplay. They kinda miss the point of being video games and are almost better at just being well-designed visual setpieces that you can walk around in.
