Spells can fail in FF7R if they hit a non-target object before hitting the target. Cast fire and there is a file cabinet in the way? Too bad you just lost your mana. Why is magic in the physical space to begin with? It should just immediately cast on the target.
its balance.
Fire is a projectile and deals the most damage.
Ice is a projectile and it deals the most stagger.
Thunder cannot miss but deals the least damage.
And Aero cant miss and brings enemies closer.
Why so? Magic has no obligation to follow the rules of physics and already doesn't for certain spells. Also magic has always been tied to the mental attributes over the physical. If it behaves as a projectile then it's just a standard weapon with fancy colors, not magic.
Its really a much better experience on PS5. I bought the game on PS4 and it was fun but the console limitations made everything less enjoyable. Played again once I got a PS5 and got the next gen upgrade version, everything was just better.
Most people played on PS4 which is why people disliked it
And the music in that area was ass. How hard is it to just re-record the original tracks? I don't want to listen to uptempo eurotrash dogshit while monotonously moving levers around just to pad the playtime
>But I like the combat.
I keep seeing this on here. Did we play the same game? The combat wasn't "bad" or anything, but it wasn't anything worth remembering either.
I wonder if Final Fantasy fans don't play anything besides turn-based RPGs, so then when they finally get something different they think it's the greatest thing ever.
> miserable morons on Ganker were wrong about something being shit
Shocking
It's good but it falls off pretty hard in it's final act, so be ready for that
I think it's nice how accepting everyone is of Cloud since he's an emotionless weirdo. Well it probably helps that he is blonde and has defined muscles.
why remake ff7 when you can just make a totally different game but dress it up in its skin, make multiple titles out of it turn it into a whole new product universe why not, change all the story frick it, and keep everyone obligated to pay attention because "it's ff7 really guys, even though it's nothing like it, you still have to pretend it is".
>Old fans would like seeing the same story but better executed by fully modeled, fully animated and voice acted rather than playmobil characters using text boxes >new fans would just enjoy the ride that is FF7's original story >Remake both relies on people knowing the source material but also spoils it at the same time
>Old fans would like seeing the same story but better executed by fully modeled, fully animated and voice acted rather than playmobil characters using text boxes >new fans would just enjoy the ride that is FF7's original story >Remake both relies on people knowing the source material but also spoils it at the same time
hit it on the head. No one expected a perfect 1:1 recreation of 7 when the PS3 tech demo that started this whole farce dropped. All anyone asked for was for the remake to both improve the fidelity of 7 while expanding on concepts already present. Not to mention that the time shit actually fricks up the original in certain ways, addition to just pissing off anyone who just wanted an improved 7, while also allegedly being for new players who don't know the source material that's being subverted right now
Yes we know. Remake make as in remaking the narrative from scratch rather than remaking the video game known as Final Fantasy VII. The whole point is the misleading nature of that argument. SE knew exactly what everyone was talking about when they said they wanted FF7 remade
>You worked on a bunch of Final Fantasy games. Which one would you want to remake the most? >[Laughs.] That would be Final Fantasy VII! >If we had the manpower and the time to work on a project, if we were to remake Final Fantasy VII with the quality of Final Fantasy XIII it would become a tremendous project. If we can get the number of people we need by all means that would be the one I would really want to remake.
>Old fans would like seeing the same story but better executed by fully modeled, fully animated and voice acted rather than playmobil characters using text boxes >new fans would just enjoy the ride that is FF7's original story >Remake both relies on people knowing the source material but also spoils it at the same time
>Ganker Blacks all the rest of the time >"Omg I'm so tired of remakes. This industry is so uncreative and soulless." >Ganker Blacks with FF7 Remake >"AIIIIEEEE NOOOOO WHY DIDN'T THEY MAKE THE SAME THING I ALREADY EXPERIENCED AND PLAYED 25 YEARS AGO 1:1 NOOOOO!"
It's good but also kind of bad. The story changes make it more like convoluted Kingdom Hearts than FF7. The assets are low budget Unreal slop aside from the character models and there's a lot of padding. Overall though it was fun and I enjoyed it but it could have been better.
I thought it was great too, for the first four chapters. Then it takes an immediate nosedive when you get to the part where they're going to blow up the second reactor, and you have all this lame "puzzle" where you have to turn on some sky lamps or something. And from then on it's just boring pointless padding that drags on for hours and hours, where they have you running down one narrow cramped corridor forever just fighting the same guys over and over. Terrible "level design."
The original one was the same, but being turn-based, at least you could be more strategic and things like "steal/mug" and "morph" had the possibility to be really used. In 7R, 'cause it's a ARPG, you start attacking with normal attacks, instead of doing magics, for it needs going through menus. In the OG you got the time to decide and plan what to use, but with the pace of 7R, you have not. So you use mainly physical attacks and maybe, the synergy materia for the caster.
Because there are many JRPG posers here who pretend to like the original.
7R is one of the best games in decades tbh.
The posers just pretend to play games, often choosing trash series like SaGa etc. to shove up as "good RPGs". In reality, no one plays those games because they were shovelware even in the PS1 days.
same dude, I just walked aeris home from church. 35 y/o here and I'm nostalgiaing hard as frick throughout this whole game. Keep stopping to take screenshots of characters mid conversation, and of the scenery. They did a very good job depicting everything faithfully, the windows in aeris' house look like they did in the original. Shit like that blows me away. I am not a fan of cloud getting cucked by Johnny for half a decade, again, though
Will buy a PS5 whenever part 2 comes out so Sony better be paying Square Enix well for getting people like me to get a PS5.
If you cast magic, the magic is a physical thing that can hit level geometry and fizzle out. It makes no sense for magic in FF7 to work that way.
the frick are you talking about
Spells can fail in FF7R if they hit a non-target object before hitting the target. Cast fire and there is a file cabinet in the way? Too bad you just lost your mana. Why is magic in the physical space to begin with? It should just immediately cast on the target.
its balance.

Ice is a projectile and it deals the most stagger.
Thunder cannot miss but deals the least damage.
And Aero cant miss and brings enemies closer.
Well at least that helps make sense of it. Genuinely think that it's a stupid way for the magic to work in the setting though.
Thank you for this anon. I fricking missed that tooltip it seems.
>fire a projectile from behind something
>projectile doesn't hit target
>"wtf game sucks"
My point is that it shouldn't be a projectile.
Why not
Why so? Magic has no obligation to follow the rules of physics and already doesn't for certain spells. Also magic has always been tied to the mental attributes over the physical. If it behaves as a projectile then it's just a standard weapon with fancy colors, not magic.
I kinda like it too tbh. Probably should have pirated it sooner since all Epic Games are free or whatever.
HD Project + nudey mods + 2x enemy health + 1.4x time enemy damage
I do think it has a good amount of soul.
HD Project no more available.

Aero got a buff, synergy Is broken now and the game now tells you which attack is unblockable
It Is great
Wait till you have to explore the sewers for a second time because apparently Don Corneo’s bouncer is super important nkw
Combat was terrible. Even fricking souls crap offers a better combat system
Man you're fricking stupid
I like it a lot but i would suggest you to finish it first
It takes a big jump in storytelling by the end that can change your opinion
>Just started playing
Ohnonononononononono
The side quests, areas like guiding Aerith with the mechanical hands, and filler areas bring it down. But I like the combat.
And the music in that area was ass. How hard is it to just re-record the original tracks? I don't want to listen to uptempo eurotrash dogshit while monotonously moving levers around just to pad the playtime

I'm obviously not a die hard FF7 fanboy who watched Advent Children and whatever

I think it's nice how accepting everyone is of Cloud since he's an emotionless weirdo. Well it probably helps that he is blonde and has defined muscles.
By the end of my playthrough, I found myself fapping furiously to Cloud SFM porn.
We all know you were doing that before the playthrough.

belt buckle drawing man you've done it again
FF7's story was already told 25 years ago, telling a new story with better graphics and gameplay and the same characters is a good idea
>Old fans would like seeing the same story but better executed by fully modeled, fully animated and voice acted rather than playmobil characters using text boxes
>new fans would just enjoy the ride that is FF7's original story

The remake doesn't mean what you think it does.
Yes we know. Remake make as in remaking the narrative from scratch rather than remaking the video game known as Final Fantasy VII. The whole point is the misleading nature of that argument. SE knew exactly what everyone was talking about when they said they wanted FF7 remade

I don't get it.
none of these people played FF7 originally. Like I said, JRPGs have a bunch of posers online these days, I don't know why.
Time to blow up another Mako reactor
It's a good game but a bad remake, imo.
Dunno, I liked it for the most part. Even the Black person ape was likeable.
Not to mention the generous donation they made to my porn folder with all the women being absolute smokeshows.
It's good but also kind of bad. The story changes make it more like convoluted Kingdom Hearts than FF7. The assets are low budget Unreal slop aside from the character models and there's a lot of padding. Overall though it was fun and I enjoyed it but it could have been better.
I almost cared about what you had to say until I saw you post bootleg DMC, non RPG, wannabe western and "adult" non Final Fantasy game.
inb4 people start arguing about the definition of the word "remake"
>Just started playing and it's great.
Wait till you finish the prologue lmao.
I fricking hate you and everyone like you.
>call it a remake
>>it's not actually a remake
Frick nomura and his homoerotic kingdom hearts shit.
Just don't follow Sephiroth at the end of the road. The game ends there.
Is this all a dream. I don't think they would reveal that at the end of the first game of a trilogy probably.
it's pretty kino yea. i beat it in like a week a year after it came out. Can't wait for the sequel
Probably because it sucks. I know, hard concept to grasp.
>just started
Come back when you finish it.

wait till you start noticing the FF XIII
hallways, crystarium, shitty story, cringe writing
boring padded out trash that isnt even a remake
