I did and it was garbage >b-b-but it's good if you hack it and are able to pirate its huge ass 1~2 game long library
That applies to every single system
i did
i used tf2 items i traded for to pay for it
before i purchased it i had dreams of playing it
i picked it over 200 in bitcoin
guess what, it was hella worth it. had a few of the greatest summers of my life with it. played it last like a year and a half ago.
I had one and a bunch of games. Killzone, Gravity Rush, Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax, Freedom Wars, Ragnarok Odyssey Ace, God Eater 2, Little Big Planet, Hot Shot Golf, Uncharted, Jak and Daxter HD Collection, Playstation All Stars, Assassin's Creed, Kickbeat, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, and probably even more I'm forgetting and that's before we get into all the PS1 games I had for it too. That was the last good thing Sony ever put out I just wish it wasn't managed by absolute idiots. The software was there, but the support was still lackluster.
I did, I ended up buying 4 of them, actually. The first one I got in 2012 and my young dumb self ended up breaking it due to water damage. Then I bought another in 2013, but traded it to help pay for a PS4. I immediately regretted selling it, then bought a Slim in 2014. I hated the Slim's LCD, so I bought a cheap used OLED model in 2017.
I brought it back out recently to play PS1 games and the screen is still gorgeous. Premium build quality and it has arguably the greatest D-Pad ever made, at least the greatest on a handheld unquestionably. Great hardware, unique library, but terribly mismanaged by Sony and the popularity of smartphones by that time didn't help either. It was a bad time period for handhelds, even the 3DS sold half the amount of the DS, but it's strong 1st party support, price cuts, and hardware revisions carried it. Nintendo creating a hybrid device with the Switch was brilliant, but given that Sony can't even properly support the PS5 with consistent 1st party titles, they'll never make another portable again.
You know a handheld is shit when the best people can say is that you can hack it and run emulators on it. Wasn't every single Vita game also eventually available on a different system? Even Persona 4 Golden, the one game people would always bring up, was eventually just on PC.
>you can play it in pc >but i want to play it at work, so i want the portable version >IDIOT. ITS ON PC, WHY EVEN PLAY IT ON THE VITA?!???! >because its portable >BUT ITS ON PSEEEEEEEEE
This. PC troons are the most obnoxious morons in gaming. I don't care if a game that was on Vita has been ported to PC, I'd still rather play it on the Vita because it's more comfier and portable.
2 main reasons
The biggest one >no monster hunter
The other lesser but still relevant >too old
I sorta just missed the boat on this thing for general use. I was the perfect age for a handheld gaming thing when the PSP came out, but by the time the Vita hit, I just old enough that I wasn't playing video games when I wasn't home anymore, so I didn't have a reason to get it
I almost bought one to play p4g, but then I realized it was dub only and the vita was unhackable at the time so there was no way to fix it. so either blame fatlus and other shitty companies for doing dub only localizations or blame snoy for making it too hard to hack.
>It would have been better if you could play PS2 Classics on it though.
Sony could always get the bright idea of releasing a handheld that could play PS1 and PS2, maybe even PS3 games. They could do reprints but this time the games would be on similar game cartridges the Switch uses. The retro market is big enough that people would be into such a thing.
this looks good, this PS2 classics would have nice.
More ps2 classics on anything would be nice >a couple on ps3 >a couple more on ps4 >3rd parties are probably divided between wanting to release a remake at a higher pricepoint but not wanting to put in the effort to do a remake
D-pad, pocketable, pretty strong for a small handheld, nice library of games that I care about.
Not going into more detail because (You) won't respond.
>switch games don't sacrifice anything besides framerate and graphics
My switch can't even run NES games properly. All the actual ports like the FF games freeze and crash all the time.
Handheld games should be simple but fun video games I can mess around with in short spurts. Not console games for my portable. A good example of a proper handheld game would be Metroid Dread.
I did, but it was like a year after it release. It didn't have any games that I cared about when it launched so I just waited for it to go on sale and have a better library or a game I really wanted to play on it i.e. P4 Golden.
Sony is obsessed with the BLM terrorist group and forcing "diversity".
At the same time, they're not even being based and doing so as an offensive tactic to poison the well for other businesses. They themselves are evil, provably so, and are at the forefront of censorship and woke-ism in their own products.
Buying Sony is a cuck move, whether it's a portable gaming device or a console or a phone or a camera or anything.
I heard the vita has 2.4ghz wifi vs the switch&portal's 5ghz, is it not a noticeable difference?
Have you tried streaming PC->Vita? Seems like the perfect setup for VNs.
I should have clarified, that is PC to Vita with Moonlight. I’ve played JRPGs and VNs with my Vita from PC, but the latency is too much for anything action oriented. Yeah the Vita’s WiFi is kind of shit for streaming.
Steam Deck OLED is WiFi6 so it’s almost perfect.
I did, OP. I also have a PSTV. Spent many hours on LUMINES, recently went through Shovel Knight on it. The Vita is the best portable system ever made. It's just a shame it's a Sony device so they had no clue what to do with it. Same shit is happening right now with PSVR2.
I have a PSTV and Sony really didn't know what they had in their hands. Once you hack it and get rid of the blacklist and the shitty ass blur filter it's a damn great device and it's my preferred method to play Vita, PSP, and PS1 games.
I did, had the 3G model.
I loved my vita, but the thing that let me love it a lot was:
I live in japan. I could take EVERY single one of my physical PSP UMDs, mail them in to sony, and for I think it was 300 yen a pop, get a digital download and play them on my vita. They even mailed back my cases. Shitty I had to pay at all but physical to digital license conversion was okay by me, even to this day I can go and download all the games that never had digital releases (like crisis core) on my vita without having to cfw it up (not that there's a reason not to but, whatever)
stuff like NEAR was a straight up horrible attempt at aping streetpass, the few titles that made any use of NEAR flopped horrifically, mostly cause they were all gacha lmao.
Vita had a handful of good titles, but it just had no support. No one in the west supported it cause it was a successor to arguably the most pirate-friendly system to ever exist (the psp), no one in japan supported it cause the 3DS was just plain better, so it turned into an indie machine cause ninty still shit on indies at the time, that's why there's lots of dungeon crawlers and vns and shit.
Freedom wars, SSD, and killzone mercs are some of my favorite portable games ever. I think freedom wars would make a fantastic mobile game, if it got ported over. There's so much room for monetization.
Since this is the Vita thread, any recs for a game with fun/good combat? Preferably more niche because I have definitely looked hard to find most of what I have. Oh yeah, I also like games with a good story.
Ninja Gaiden, Rabi Ribi, Ys Origin
Highly recommend you overclock your vita if you're going to play action games
None of these have a good story though
i bought it and the pstv
most of the games i like on it got ported to other systems now but i still find value in using them for playing psone classics
nintendo stopped using nintendium after the gameboy advance.
We had every nintendo hand held in our family since the original gameboy, and they all still work, but the DS&3DS are all broken.
And it was always the shoulder buttons first because of mario kart.
I did. I got a lot of mileage out of it too - even before I hacked it. It is a really nice handheld. The only flaws are 1. Sony dropped the fricking ball after release and got frick-all first party support, and B. the back touchpad was pretty pointless. Should have just gone for an L2 and an R2. Especially since they were pushing it as a remote play device on the side. Oh, and proprietary memory cards and charger (on the 1000 model), that's a big frick too.
It was too close to the release of the ps4, sony asked a lot of devs to make games for it but they all had the same response >we rather make games for the ps4 because it will have a larger userbase
And sony EU&US dropped the psvita too fast too, meanwhile sony JP kept backing it and it did well there, in a market where the 3DS was king.
It was released right when psp cfw was a simple 2 step instead of battery shit I still to this day don't understand how it worked and was busy downloading 2gb roms for 3 hours
Wrong timing I guess
Lots of reasons why the vita failed, but the main one is, sony gave up on it really early.
Even nintendo backed the WiiU longer then sony did with the vita.
It's not in production anymore so of course the price exploded. The only reason they were going for $20 at one point is because stores were desperately trying to get rid of stock
I was extremely poor back then.
Now I'm just very poor.
I saw a pstv about 5 years ago at a thrift store for $15, I didn't know what it was so I didn't buy it.
I did when an alternative for the storage came about. Memory sticks were expensive for PSP but they were at least used in more devices. Vita memory cards were outrageous.
>No games >Expensive ass memory cards >No games >Most of the library was trimmed down versions of home console releases, and the few actual exclusives it did have wound up being ported to home consoles >No games >Sony publicly telling people that they're no longer supporting the Vita and then trying to re-market it as a PS4 accessory was a massive red flag to everybody not already obligated to the handheld >No games >3DS took Monster Hunter away which effectively killed it in Japan >No games
i bought it, i just hardly ever played it. i got more use out of the PSTV but even then it was like 95% playing old PS1/PSP games and 5% the actual vita library
I did buy it and another and like 100 games between physical and digital.
It's a great console.
I spent more time gaming with my Vita and 3DS than any other consoles. I miss portables.
I did and it was garbage
>b-b-but it's good if you hack it and are able to pirate its huge ass 1~2 game long library
That applies to every single system
No? The DS library is garbage and the console is irredeemable overall. The Vita is better in every way.
I own a DS,3DS&vita, and the DS libary is the best on out of all 3.
Frick off troll.
You must be 18+ to post here. No one over the age of 10 would unironically say that.
ok grandpa lets get you to bed
I do think the Vita is the best handheld but the DS had a good library
TWEWY is great
Vita is only good for playing PSP and PS1 games, because its own library sucks donkey dick.
I enjoy the Vita's library.
It is a console you can enjoy to the fullest if you enjoy jap games
DS has one of the best game libraries of all time. lol
Hacking a Vita drastically improved it, significantly more then any other console.
i had two
I did I have 3 vitas and VitaTV
i did, it was nice 🙂
I did
I was playing Tearaway today
That is a nice image.
I wish that were me…
I boughted it too late
This, took too long to get hacked and solve the storage problem.
I did
never bought a single game tho, just Killzone Liberation that was bundled with it and then collected PS+ "free" games
*Killzone Mercenary
Because I had this
I don’t know what games I would even get it for, apart from project diva.
nowadays if I did get one I'd just be for Persona and maybe the psp Megaman remakes
I did, 90% of my time using it was spent on playing PSP games.
Proprietary Memory
I did, it had no games.
Almost everything I would ever want to play on it got ported elsewhere so it's not like it mattered if I bought it or not.
I bought a second-hand one and its right joystick has heavy drift.
the head of sony called me a fricking Black person
don't know why he got so mad when i called the vita a piece of shit
Damn
Because overpriced proprietary memory cards were the dumbest thing Sony did until they released the Portal.
i did. i played a lot of freedom wars, killzone mercenary, borderlands 2, and helldivers.
too poor at the time, everyone that had one in school used it to download hentai, lmao
i did
i used tf2 items i traded for to pay for it
before i purchased it i had dreams of playing it
i picked it over 200 in bitcoin
guess what, it was hella worth it. had a few of the greatest summers of my life with it. played it last like a year and a half ago.
I had both
3ds mopped the floor with that shit those memory cards sucked wiener
No games other than weebshit.
I bought it and a ton of games on it so don't look at me
I bought 2 of them
FRICK SONY for killing it
I did, I ended up buying 4 of them, actually. The first one I got in 2012 and my young dumb self ended up breaking it due to water damage. Then I bought another in 2013, but traded it to help pay for a PS4. I immediately regretted selling it, then bought a Slim in 2014. Nintendo creating a hybrid device with the Switch was brilliant, but given that Sony can't even properly support the PS5 with consistent 1st party titles, they'll never make another portable again.
I bought it because i was a conspiratard and thought the V in mgs V stood for vita. Dont regret it and hope I can give it to my future kid.
I even bought the VitaStation, the non-portable version of it.
You know a handheld is shit when the best people can say is that you can hack it and run emulators on it. Wasn't every single Vita game also eventually available on a different system? Even Persona 4 Golden, the one game people would always bring up, was eventually just on PC.

>BUT ITS ON PSEEEEEEEEE
This. PC troons are the most obnoxious morons in gaming. I don't care if a game that was on Vita has been ported to PC, I'd still rather play it on the Vita because it's more comfier and portable.
get a portable PC
now say pocketable
you know what i mean you fricking autist.
you mean portable when you actually want to say pocketable.
Do you not have a phone?
I already have a PSP, also I already have too many games to play in general, I don't need another fricking console, as much as I like weebshit.
Because Sony mistreated her older sister, and I don't want to support abuse.
I bought it because my friend had one, realised I didn't want it, then traded it in the very next day
I did and I loved it, too bad Sony kept fricking off with it's exclusives.
Don't blame us when Sony has no faith in the machine.
2 main reasons
The biggest one
>no monster hunter
The other lesser but still relevant
>too old
I sorta just missed the boat on this thing for general use. I was the perfect age for a handheld gaming thing when the PSP came out, but by the time the Vita hit, I just old enough that I wasn't playing video games when I wasn't home anymore, so I didn't have a reason to get it
I bought it, 2 even.
The second one was supposed to be a backup incase the first one ever breaks yet it never fricking does.
What did you play on it?
A lot.
Been playing Mecury Meltdown recently.
I do have one. I still play it.
>he boughted
it was really expensive, the storage was really expensive, the battery was shit
I almost bought one to play p4g, but then I realized it was dub only and the vita was unhackable at the time so there was no way to fix it. so either blame fatlus and other shitty companies for doing dub only localizations or blame snoy for making it too hard to hack.
I've never buy a single snoy console or game in my entire life and never will. No money for snoys
>giving your money to smelly
nah
i have one and i only remember gravity rush and soul sacrifice from its library.
what are some good psvita titles, either vidya or vn
I liked VLR. Muramasa is fun too.
no piracy, no buy
Everyone who actually belongs here owns a vita.
homie, I bought 5 with about 150 physical games for it over the years. Shut the frick up.
Well it failed so you obviously didn't buy enough
It's for the best though. NuSnoy won't allow lewdshit on their systems, so I'm done with them.
>no soul sacrifice
truly, the cursed handheld
What does it honestly even have that I can't get somewhere else?
Actual functional handheld ports that dont sacrifice anything unlike the 3ds and switch
A really super slick comfy UI and an extensive back catalog of PS1 games.
It would have been better if you could play PS2 Classics on it though.
this looks good, this PS2 classics would have nice.
>It would have been better if you could play PS2 Classics on it though.

>3rd parties are probably divided between wanting to release a remake at a higher pricepoint but not wanting to put in the effort to do a remake
I still boot up my Vita TV to play the comfiest Katamari game.
I know emulators are always around but I wish Shadow Hearts was more accessible.
D-pad.
I get the 3DS but switch games don't sacrifice anything besides framerate and graphics, which the Vita also does.
>D-pad.
If that is all you can come up with then is bad
D-pad, pocketable, pretty strong for a small handheld, nice library of games that I care about.
Not going into more detail because (You) won't respond.
>switch games don't sacrifice anything besides framerate and graphics
My switch can't even run NES games properly. All the actual ports like the FF games freeze and crash all the time.
>My switch can't even run NES games properly.
What the hell is Nintendo doing?
Why didn't you save him, Ganker?
KWAB
i enjoyed the side stories/fairy tales more than the main game and DLC
Handheld games should be simple but fun video games I can mess around with in short spurts. Not console games for my portable. A good example of a proper handheld game would be Metroid Dread.
I don't like Sony and it didn't have Monster Hunter.
I did, but it was like a year after it release. It didn't have any games that I cared about when it launched so I just waited for it to go on sale and have a better library or a game I really wanted to play on it i.e. P4 Golden.

Buying Sony is a cuck move, whether it's a portable gaming device or a console or a phone or a camera or anything.
>"Cities can rebuild, Zach."
If you buy a Vita none of the money goes to Sony.
Bought mine with wipeout 2048 and this intro still goes hard
I did tho, 2 actually
How do you stream a PS5 to the 'eck
Chiaki
yeah streaming Elden Ring to a Vita was a bit of a meme, but PS5 to the OLED deck works as well as PS Portal or whatever it’s called
Steam Deck OLED is WiFi6 so it’s almost perfect.
>streaming
gross
It was my Christmas present ten years ago. I still play it.
What's the best SNES emulator for Vita?
Can I get one cheap?
not anymore
damn
I hate playstation games and always have, I never liked PS2 even
i still have mine but have been considering selling it for some rent money lol
Just suck a few dicks instead
>WHY THE FRICK DIDN'T YOU BY IT?!
Why the frick would I?
No games, not that hard to grasp.
I did, OP. I also have a PSTV. Spent many hours on LUMINES, recently went through Shovel Knight on it. The Vita is the best portable system ever made. It's just a shame it's a Sony device so they had no clue what to do with it. Same shit is happening right now with PSVR2.
I like Shovel Knight more on 3DS because of the 3D effect but Vita would definitely be my second choice.
I have a PSTV and Sony really didn't know what they had in their hands. Once you hack it and get rid of the blacklist and the shitty ass blur filter it's a damn great device and it's my preferred method to play Vita, PSP, and PS1 games.
Trails of Cold Steel machine
Kino
>ToCS 1+2
>Ys Origin
>Ys VIII
Falcoms output on the Vita was excellent
Did the Vita version have turbo or is that a PC only addition? I honestly can't imagine playing pre-Kuro Trails without speed up.
PC, Switch, PS4 only.
Should I buy a 1000 model and/or a PSTV? I have a 2000.
1000. Most of the Vita's games are already on other systems, so the PSTV loses its main advantage of portability.
I did, had the 3G model.
I loved my vita, but the thing that let me love it a lot was:
I live in japan. I could take EVERY single one of my physical PSP UMDs, mail them in to sony, and for I think it was 300 yen a pop, get a digital download and play them on my vita. stuff like NEAR was a straight up horrible attempt at aping streetpass, the few titles that made any use of NEAR flopped horrifically, mostly cause they were all gacha lmao.
There's so much room for monetization.
unironically i bought it to play persona 4 and the very same week the remaster got stealth dropped
Soul Sacrifice Delta and Muramasa
Odin Sphere looks like your game
Panzer Bandit, Ghost Rider, Kingdom of Paradise, Phantom Breaker Battlegrounds, Gundam Breaker 3, Rengoku 2, Ys Origins
My friend did.
I remember him playing tekken and GoW on the school bus
Because I prefer the PSP. It actually has games I'm interested in. All the Vita had was Persona 4 Golden, and that was ported to PCs years ago.
BECAUSE I DON'T LEAVE MY FRICKING HOUSE AND WHEN I DO I DONT HAVE TIME TO GAME homosexual
But i did, and i even use it to this day because of SDVITA pro.
i bought it and the pstv
most of the games i like on it got ported to other systems now but i still find value in using them for playing psone classics
>own a n3dsxl
>own a oled vita
>own a steam deck
>own a house
>have sex every week
Only one of these is a lie.
nobody owns a house in this economy
i have a launch model hacked vita and i own a house (until i pay it off)
ownng a vita of course, snoys are not functional people so they don't have either a house or sex
>own a vita
>own a gba
>own a 2DSXL
>own a 3DSXL
>own a switch
>own a v2 switch
>own a wii
>own a wii u
I wonder what the lie is?
Wii U.
It's obviously 3DSXL, I got one near launch but it sadly broke so I gave it away.
nintendo stopped using nintendium after the gameboy advance.
We had every nintendo hand held in our family since the original gameboy, and they all still work, but the DS&3DS are all broken.
And it was always the shoulder buttons first because of mario kart.

I did
Loved it
But now I have a steam deck
I'm a adult with a television.
I bought a Vita TV instead
Vitamins life.
I didn't buy it because I got it as a gift
It was a decent system that was completely mishandled by Sony because they didn't know how to treat it
It was too close to the release of the ps4, sony asked a lot of devs to make games for it but they all had the same response
>we rather make games for the ps4 because it will have a larger userbase
And sony EU&US dropped the psvita too fast too, meanwhile sony JP kept backing it and it did well there, in a market where the 3DS was king.
I did buy it. And I have like 25 games. What else did you want me to do, buy them again?
i actually liked the vita killzone&uncharted games.
And the killzone multiplayer was actually kind of fun for the full week it got support...
is mhfu good? i like grinding games but im partial to souls games.
Almost sure i did this years ago
But I did.
I have two.
I even have a PS TV.
>PS TV.
very rare.
How does that even work when most games use the touch screen?
It was released right when psp cfw was a simple 2 step instead of battery shit I still to this day don't understand how it worked and was busy downloading 2gb roms for 3 hours
Wrong timing I guess
Lots of reasons why the vita failed, but the main one is, sony gave up on it really early.
Even nintendo backed the WiiU longer then sony did with the vita.
No Monhun
3DS monhun sucks.
shitty monhun > no monhun
Sadly yes.
it is the best way to play freedom unite
I have 2
I did buy it. It was used but I bought it.
Because I was a broke neet at the time
I did, I even got a 64GB memory card for it.
Richgay.
I bought a PSTV. I downloaded a ton of games and never played them. Probably would have if I had a Vita instead.
i bought a pstv for 20 dollars used at a gamestop in detroit
only used it to play muramasa, but im surprised it has exploded in price nowadays
It's not in production anymore so of course the price exploded. The only reason they were going for $20 at one point is because stores were desperately trying to get rid of stock
Because there's absolutely nothing I want to play on it aside from soul sacrifice
Gravity Rush was pretty good as well
Looks boring and is on ps4
I'm sorry 🙁
no Monster Hunter..
Big sad
what is happening?
massaging your earlobes
I was extremely poor back then.
Now I'm just very poor.
I saw a pstv about 5 years ago at a thrift store for $15, I didn't know what it was so I didn't buy it.
>no monster hunter
It's fricking trash. The PSP was leagues better on account of having MHFU alone.
I did when an alternative for the storage came about. Memory sticks were expensive for PSP but they were at least used in more devices. Vita memory cards were outrageous.
Because it had no games
Was MHFU really that good, there's been a ton of mentions of it. I don't care about the series outside of the RPG ones.
Me and my friend were marathoning that shit every weekend, it was ridiculously addictive
hello /vitagen/
>No games
>Expensive ass memory cards

I played front mission 3 and legend of dragoon on the shitter. Couldn’t have done that without a reliable portable console. Thank you PS Vita
>front mission 3 and legend of dragoon
shit taste
>still saying monster hunter
>not sony bullshit
It could had all monster hunter games and still wouldn't matter because sony didn't gave a shit
I bought it on launch day.
i bought it, i just hardly ever played it. i got more use out of the PSTV but even then it was like 95% playing old PS1/PSP games and 5% the actual vita library
I bought 3 and a PS Vita T.V, I did all I could.
I got the 3g version pre-launch
Love it. Specially now that hacking is wide open.
surpised this thread is still up, see you later vitabros
I did buy it and another and like 100 games between physical and digital.
It's a great console.
I spent more time gaming with my Vita and 3DS than any other consoles. I miss portables.
I was late to the party, then my vita broke anyway. Now I follow the emulator because I just wanna play Soul Sacrifice again.
I actually bought 2 of this shit.
Yes two as in more than one.
It had one hell of an expensive memory card
>israeli proprietary memory cards
>unhackable until the very end so no emulators
>I didn't know Japanese 13 years ago
I won one from a Taco Bell giveaway and it was entirely underwhelming once I got it.
