You're not "supposed" to do anything. It was a pivotal moment for Ellie's character, as she refused to let go of her anger by using a memory of Joel's brutalized body, yet she was able to let go upon realizing that she's getting no emotional closure with her relationship with Joel.
It's bleaker if she killed Abby, and Lev by extension. Then the game would be deserving of the LE TORTURE PORN criticisms. Ellie has doubt during her most climactic moment, and the path of least resistance would be to let Abby live.

I dont think it was an asspull. Ellie did multiple heelturns at the end of the game. 1 when she freed Abby, 1 when she forced Abby to fight, and another when she spared Abby. Ellie was in a fricked state of mind after she freed the slaves, and the pillars sobered up until she used the memory of Joel to start and end the fight.
I think the ending sequence starts from when the slaves are freed, so you can see Ellie go from obsessed psycho to shocked and conflicted

I like the new mode, but not enough to play for more than a weekend. It should have been Factions 2. Factions 1 is still up and running just fine, I played some rounds earlier today, so what's stopping them from just giving this a muktiplayer update? The levels are already, the weapons are all there, the game modes exist. I genuinely fricking hate this because the game we've been asking for for years is RIGHT FRICKING THERE IN THE DLC and they just.. Won't do it?
