Not literally Arch. SteamOS is Arch based but it's a lot more casual friendly with a bunch of Windows-esque safety nets in place to ensure the user doesn't nuke their Deck
It's not like proper arch is always one typo away from nuking your system either. The two most anti-normalgays archisms are that you have to use the terminal for the package manager, and the initial installation (yes even using archinstall will scare some people)
SteamOS is read only mode so basically you can only install flatpak stuff without the OS removing it on updates. Its good for the handheld because no one would want to break their system and start figuring out how to make a handheld work
how rough of a transition would it be to go from a Steam Deck to an actual Linux desktop with arch+KDE?
I've used the terminal and disabled the read only OS a few times to install things but I'm still kind of spooked by the terminal and don't really understand how to use it properly beyond copy pasting in commands

A phone is just small computer, you don't need to use the screen it comes with.
well that makes more sense but from my experience memory management on phones isn't very good. like I can have one app open, switch to another app for 10 seconds, and when I return to the previous app it has to reload. whereas on desktop you can have a bunch of windows open for weeks on end even with 8 gigs of ram. or does the desktop mode on mobile fix that (the mode that makes android look like windows)
phones are an awful experience
they're worse at everything, like laptops but 100x worse.
they are only good for conveniently looking something up, shitty ad infested time wasting games and communication.
Because W10 IoT LTSC is still usable for a while. I used W7 all the way up until regular W10 LTSC 3 years ago, and this will be my last Windows. Why do linux cultists always parrot this FUD? Install Windows 10 on a VM, run the debloater. You will get no outbound traffic at all. I've left it on overnight and zero bytes of data went to microsoft or any of their servers. Frick off moron.
No it doesn't. Windows Enterprise lets you set telemetry level to zero so it can be compliant in highly confidential business environments. It does not come back. Run the debloater again after updating if you're really that paranoid about it. now kys

I don't care Black person closed source enterprise software is better than FOSS shit 99.9% of the time.
I have.
I use Bazzite and boot directly to Game Mode. I’d use SteamOS if Valve would ever release a generic installer. Basically use my desktop as a console. I have a laptop that I can dock to do my job with.
It’s the actual end-game for both enjoying vidya (no OS distractions when you want to play a game) and being productive (no games when you need to work).
Yeah i've tested extensively. I got roughly 30 less frames in borderlands 3, roughly 50 less frames in deep rock galactic and elden ring ran about 25 frames less on linux.
For AMD I bet linux probably does perform better but in my experience with nvidia, linux does 'just work' but it's not as well as it is on Windows.
I wonder how much of that is shitty amd windows drivers
>I wonder how much of that is shitty amd windows drivers
It doesn't really matter because AMD price their cards according to their expected performance and competitiveness on Windows. Any uplift on Linux is a benefit for AMD customers, even if the root cause is shitty drivers on Windows.
Could be other factors in play, like you didn't disable compositor or didn't enable gamemode etc. People making benchmarks are usually good with linux.
I've been using linux since 98. I had the compositor disabled otherwise every game is a stuttery mess. Latest drivers and kernel patches for fsync/esync.
Linux is worse for Nvidia in my experience and I've yet to see otherwise from others.
AMD relies on open source monkeys to fix their shitty driver they have on windows. Nvidia is the opposite, it hyperoptimises its windows driver and the linux drivers just working as it is is fine to them

Are there any videos of the performance comparisons between Windows and Linux? I remember last year I asked this question and an anon got defensive saying "you won't admit it's better even if I did link a video" and then eventually him or someone linked a RDR2 video and the frame rate was within like 5 FPS, well within a margin of normal fluctuation, and sometimes the Windows one was better. So basically it ran exactly the same. It's like a USA wins 1-1 situation.
I feel like the goal post gets moved every time this happens. First, it's Linux runs it better. Then it turns into, well it runs it just as good so why not use it? Well why don't I just keep using the same Windows key I've been using for 15 years then?
It's mostly that Linux is a better experience on the rest but it's down to preference.
Disregard anyone that brings up the telemetry because we all know they installed Steam, discord, chrome or whatever shit on their Linux Distro, if they didn't outright install one with built in telemetry like Ubuntu or Deepin.
Don't bother if you don't want it.
>Are there any videos of the performance comparisons between Windows and Linux?
A lot are disengenious, like running a highly customized kernel for a specific game with as minimal background processes as possible while keeping a bloated windows installation. You'll also notice they'll all be AMD comparisons.
Some anon benchmarked Borderlands 3 on /lgg/ in /vg/ on Windows and Linux and posted his results and Linux was worse. While some other anon posted a video comparing cyberpunk 2077 windows vs linux and linux was faster but it wasn an amd card.
There's a kernel of truth to that, since for many games there are bugs that certain configurations can have that may have a 40% fps difference. People like to show what is possible, but often isn't the out-of-the-box experience. Valve has made this a lot easier with the introduction of proton though
>A lot are disengenious, like running a highly customized kernel for a specific game with as minimal background processes as possible
How is this disingenuous when you can boot into cachyos OS that does all this for you, while you can't do anything with the NT kernel and you can only minimally change the userland, with some jeet "debloat" script?
>like running a highly customized kernel for a specific game with as minimal background processes as possible while keeping a bloated windows installation.
This is really no different from benchmarkers using custom Windows ISOs instead of the default spyware ISO
how many of your old games crash or do anything fricky with your desktop with the resolution? You know what I am talking about right?
Linux has its own gamescope app that basically makes playing old games fun again because it puts the game in a separate window where its save to alt tab and it wont frick with your resolution otherwise. Its great
>do anything fricky with your desktop with the resolution
games aren't allowed to do this at all on wayland btw
i remember delusional morons trying to argue that was a BAD thing, as if any program except your DE's system settings should be allowed to frick with the display configuration.
Nvidia is the sole reason im not using linux right now, I make do with wsl2 but I really need to use Broadcast to filter out my newborn baby screams when on meetings.
It's more like an inevitability. At some point you will click a suspicious link,go to the wrong website, follow some bad instructions, take a risk you shouldn't take. Your OS and anti-virus,sandbox just serves to delay/lessen your eventual frick-up
Who cares?
I have a paying job like an adult, so I can easily afford the best PC hardware
I'm not gonna switch a less user-friendly system just to save a few frames
>d3d12 >vulkan3d
Did you know there's dxvk for windows too? You'd only gain performance switching to linux if there was ram bottleneck (which is surprisingly often these days because modern games are very sensitive to latency, throughput and amount in that order of priority) and elimination of it would outweight translation overhead and even then performance gain wouldn't be that noticable.
A compatibility layer is not an emulator, it's just a system that deals with arbitrary hardcoded requirements of ancient software that was never futureproof designed. Windows itself uses the same kind of compatibility layer. So basically you're saying that playing anything on Windows released before 2016 is using an emulator.
The heckin CLI programs make my girldick tingle!

Everyone who uses Linux at some point end up going back to Windows because Linux sucks dick. Even the biggest Linux shills that spend every waking hour making videos or writing articles about how Linux is so good still end up going back to Windows. That's how bad Linux is that not even the shills can use it for long period of times before going back to Windows.
Windows users don't seethe about linux users, they just use their OS
linux users seethe about windows users every day, they don't use their OS
The choice is simple.
It's like AMD vs Nvidia.
Cause linux is for people who either live inside their puters or never touch them unless they are paid relatively good money. Entry fee of learning basic computer programming and reading half o archwiki before understanding how stuff fits together is too high for everyone else.
I just have never had a single reason to switch to linux, also I often use software that isn't on it. It's cool if you have to give new life to a potato though, now that I think about it I might try it on an old laptop that I don't even use anymore
or if you need to use any software that isn't some open source student project, like competent photo editors for example. If you need to use your pc for anything serious that isn't programming you won't use linux
so yeah, windows is your office OS that provides support for doing work with propietary programs that have code bases filled with shit so they cannot be ported to anywhere, but not your gaming OS
I am not a nerd who uses computers if I am not having fun so I use Linux
the thing is that I also need to use proprietary stuff on my pc too sometimes, I could double partition but I'm too lazy. Otherwise yeah, with the recent progress in gaming linux has become more and more feasible and honestly tinkering with it and customizing it sounds fun compared to dealing with the soulless modern windows
So there's this game I wanted to play on steamdeck. It doesn't work.
And I was told to look for it online, but since it's a niche game, I can't find anything about it.
Then I was told to create a git hub ticket, and I did. But I waited for half a year and still no reply on it at all.
Then I was told to try all kind of weird workaround, but still couldn't get it to work.
By chance, it finally work on Steam Deck on some newest proton GE. But the game crash quite easily and I have to constantly restart the game
That's when I know Linux is so shitty for gaming, it's not worth it at all.
Windows is basically the ultimate cuckolding experience. You get to sit and watch with your wiener in your hand while microsoft fricks your computer right in front of you, cums inside of it, and turns it into a node in its botnet.
I unironically would if i could reliably install it on every mobile phone i'll get my hands on, but mobile linux is somewhere in between of very rough beta and dead in the waters. Get mobile sorted out, you nerds.
>shoving troony wiener down the throats of billions of users
based Microsoft doesn't beat around the bush and shows how far its customers will get stretched. if one allows themselves to tolerate the adware that is windows they don't get to complain or opt out of the troony propaganda
So there's this game I wanted to play on windows. It doesn't work.
And I was told to look for it online, but since it's a niche game, I can't find anything about it.
Then I was told to contact microsoft support, and I did. But I waited for half a year and all I got back was "saar please reinstall windows".
Then I was told to try all kind of weird regedits, but still couldn't get it to work.
By chance, it finally work on Steam Deck on some newest windows update. But the game crash quite easily and I have to constantly restart the game

anon isn't wrong. In Deep rock galactic I got roughly the same frame rate, but frame timing was so shit it felt like I was at half the fps, the worst part was that it wasnt even a consistent shit frame time, it was all over the place
There is no real need.

did microsoft remove it from your computer?
zoomers unironically think that's how it works lmfao
well, if they don't stop microsoft's second try at taking control of your computer, it will work like that soon

they tried pushing this shit 20 years ago and now they're trying again with forced TPM/secure boot in windows 11

I have actually about half a year ago. I already use laynix on my work machine so the move wasn't that painful.

Because I want a system that I can actually use on an everyday basis
I want a system that had actual QOL features
I want a system where I can just download and install games and apps then just double click and play
I want a system where my games just work, not one where I need to jump through hoops and downlad external programs just to get my games running, or if it fails beg on the forums and discord servers for linux support like a little cuck
Linux has none of that
give me example of something you need on linux that isnt on it
vr support
KDE has it. Unfortunately KDE doesn't work the best with newbie friendly distros. The best KDE experience is with arch and arch spooks normalgays.
isn't KDE plus arch what the Steam Deck uses?
yes
how rough of a transition would it be to go from a Steam Deck to an actual Linux desktop with arch+KDE?
I've used the terminal and disabled the read only OS a few times to install things but I'm still kind of spooked by the terminal and don't really understand how to use it properly beyond copy pasting in commands
can you still install flatpaks and use the discover GUI on desktop arch?
i'd say - learn to ALWAYS backup, have some kind of rollback system in place and you'll be fine. If you can't - just don't.
You can but it's not recommended
you have arch wiki if you want to manually to the installation. You have archinstall if you want to have text based GUI for it
>can you still install flatpaks and use the discover GUI on desktop arch?
yes, but you really dont need flatpaks when you can just search aur for what you want and then go
>yay package_name
and you are done
there shouldnt be anything you use on terminal that is too hard to understand what you are doing
for example, this is how you download duckstation in Arch
>yay duckstation-git
yes. It was the best choice thank god. SteamOS 2 was using Debian with Gnome. Thank god Valve realized that Debian AND Gnome is only gonna hold them back
Not literally Arch.
Its good for the handheld because no one would want to break their system and start figuring out how to make a handheld work
should work though its experimental AFAIK so not a perfect product and some hardware might not work
Stable VRR support in all games, DLSS 3 support.
Nta
werks for me
>nvidia
how about no. Meme card although it does work better on Linux than AMD does on Windows
Ironically, even though it's the single worst company Linux has ever worked with and absolutely hates everything open
Support for my DAW, Tarkov, and not having to constantly troubleshoot my audio interface. I main Linux, but anytime my CPU is being heavily utilized my audio crackles like a motherfricker. I've tried so many fixes and nothing has worked.

It's just a tiny flag, whats the big deal?
is dual booting not an option anymore?
I stated this in a previous thread and unironically Loonixgays jumped on me for being "illiterate". I actually dual boot, depending on what I want to do or how I'm feeling I just switch OS.
>b-but it's inconvenient you should only pick one
How is getting up, walking to the kitchen to get a glass of water and coming back literally maximum one minute inconvenient you fatfricks.
>all your apps and tabs and shits are gone
I'm not some OCD tism that needs to be constantly stimulated.
its kind of obsolete in the age of gpu passthrough and kvm.
Because 90% of what I used to do on desktop I do on phones now. Once 3D suites and Adobe embrace phone+cloud I'm never using a desktop again.
>using blender and photoshop on a 6 inch screen
why would you even want that
well that makes more sense but from my experience memory management on phones isn't very good. like I can have one app open, switch to another app for 10 seconds, and when I return to the previous app it has to reload. whereas on desktop you can have a bunch of windows open for weeks on end even with 8 gigs of ram. or does the desktop mode on mobile fix that (the mode that makes android look like windows)
>cast to TV
>connect BT peripherals
A phone is just small computer, you don't need to use the screen it comes with.
phones are an awful experience
they're worse at everything, like laptops but 100x worse.
they are only good for conveniently looking something up, shitty ad infested time wasting games and communication.
Because W10 IoT LTSC is still usable for a while. I used W7 all the way up until regular W10 LTSC 3 years ago, and this will be my last Windows. I've already gotten used to Linux through my Deck and a debian server I'm running. I've also already had the misfortune of dealing with W11 because of my job, and I can say with utmost certainty that even an LTSC release of W11 is going to be shit enough to make a Freetard forever.
>Because W10 IoT LTSC is still usable for a while.
IoT on a desktop is basically unsupported though. You only wait for something to break and never ever work again
what are you running on your server
>IoT on a desktop is basically unsupported though. You only wait for something to break and never ever work again
Exactly why it's only useable for a while longer, which is when W10 support starts ending for desktop software. Up until that point it's still just Windows 10 and it just werks
>what are you running on your server
2 Discord bots, an FTP server to exchange stuff between my desktop, CFW PS3, and Deck, and it's where I dump all my vidya recordings as backup because it takes too much space on my desktop
Is the Discord streaming issue fixed yet?
I'm not moronic enough to be using Wayland but on X, you cannot stream with sound. If it is, that would be cool.
>Using Discord
My homosexual friends use it so I need it.
>Discord
>streaming
Like clockwork.
I'll check it out. I remember some homosexual made a video some years ago about a workaround which was so convoluted it wasn't even worth trying.
works with vesktop

>AUR package that does it for free
Based and thanks. I REALLY didn't want to reroute to microphone.
this is why new users should just honestly use Arch. AUR is way too good to miss
relying on AUR is a double-edged sword that you should use as sparingly as possible
the only problems with AUR can be
>outdated package
then just remove it and find something else
>someone doing malware or some shit
to my memory this has never happened and build files are very readable
I just use nix.
Nix is shit
Works for me. If im using 3rd party repo, might as well use the biggest one and be done with it.
AUR is a n00b bait. If you REALLY want to use it do it in a distrobox... which can enable AUR on any distro.
all alternatives to AUR are gay as hell and devs that dont push shit to AUR are moronic
I like GURU on gentoo. I'll have to try out the AUR with distrobox though.
I have far too many PCs that run Windows.
How much are you getting paid to make these threads? And where do I sign up?
I may switch to Linux next year, once I upgrade my PC for MH Wilds. Or maybe not, Windows LTSC is also fine.

You can't remove windows telemetry. "Debloating" is a meme. If you're worried about that shit, don't use windows at all.
>You can't remove telemtry
Why do linux cultists always parrot this FUD? Install Windows 10 on a VM, run the debloater. You will get no outbound traffic at all. I've left it on overnight and zero bytes of data went to microsoft or any of their servers. Frick off moron.
everything comes back after updating
No it doesn't. Windows Enterprise lets you set telemetry level to zero so it can be compliant in highly confidential business environments. It does not come back. Run the debloater again after updating if you're really that paranoid about it. now kys
It still sends data however, even with all the gpedit toggles. Run wireshark sometime.
You can disable updates using WUB as well.
disable telemetry + disable updates = epic win
>trust me guise
no you frick off.
You people are complete schizos. No use in convincing any of you utter tards. Have fun on your shit OS Black person
linux Black folk made this topic, why are you mad when its you gays asking why we dont switch?
Is this your first linux thread? The OP is always bait, it's not meant to be taken seriously.
>debloater
mein neger windows is closed source. Trying to "debloat" shit like windows is like removing poop chunks from a poop pudding and thinking you've accomplished somehting.
you can audit it to see that it's not phoning home yourself
>Muh closed source
I don't care Black person closed source enterprise software is better than FOSS shit 99.9% of the time.
Windows is the definitive gaming platform
Because Amazon Workspace won't connect so I can't work from Ubuntu.
Because i don't give a shit about my OS I just want to play my games, simple as
I lose roughy 15% of my max frames when I use linux. Maybe if I had an AMD card I'd bench those and see.
>T. 4080 owner
Seems expected for a 4080, though it will vary from game to game, obviously. NVIDIA on Linux is a lost cause.
Nvidia is the opposite, it hyperoptimises its windows driver and the linux drivers just working as it is is fine to them
>it hyperoptimises its windows driver
Not really, lmao
Weird. I have a 4080 and I get more, likely due to less OS bloat.
I get like a 5% +- depending on the title with my 3070. Some games run much better. I'm sure using 2% ram at idle vs 12-15% helps.
Last time I tried I had a ton of trouble having 2 screens at different resolutions and Hz. not worth the trouble
>That PIECE OF SHIT software used to nuke my GOG/non steam games. It also does nothing.
>third worlder downloads pirated gog games with malware
>blames windows defender for doing it's job
the absolute state of 3rd worlders
>defending a junk service that eats your ram
No thank you, how about i just remove Defender?
Windows defender is using 5mb right now what the frick are you on
Whatever
You do you. I'm still removing it
>Whatever
so you're just moronic, alright
anon it's 2024, we have 32gb ram sticks in the west
I rather have an LLM sitting there instead of useless bloat.
they are moronic talking to them is a waste of time
You absolutely should remove it. Nothing bad will happen to you I promise.
Out of curiosity is this the same PC you into your bank account on?
>That PIECE OF SHIT software used to nuke my GOG/non steam games. It also does nothing. I removed defender, 1 year later, ran a scan and no viruses were found
I've never had that happen and I have maybe 300-400 pirated hames on my hdd
Just lucky, try real games
Just lucky
>He thinks defender scans for viruses
>Projecting
moron
this is a skill issue, i have never had any problems that weren't fixed by adding a exception for the crack/keygen
This is really no different from benchmarkers using custom Windows ISOs instead of the default spyware ISO
i only play old shit, last modern game i played was re3 remake and it kinda sucked donkey dicks, modern game is so tiresome
how many of your old games crash or do anything fricky with your desktop with the resolution? You know what I am talking about right?
Linux has its own gamescope app that basically makes playing old games fun again because it puts the game in a separate window where its save to alt tab and it wont frick with your resolution otherwise. Its great
>do anything fricky with your desktop with the resolution
games aren't allowed to do this at all on wayland btw
i remember delusional morons trying to argue that was a BAD thing, as if any program except your DE's system settings should be allowed to frick with the display configuration.
none because most old games have modern wrappers, but still i'd rather deal with a desktop rearranging than the whole ordeal of linux
Just whitelist your game and torrents folders.
Because I also work on my PC.
Nvidia is the sole reason im not using linux right now, I make do with wsl2 but I really need to use Broadcast to filter out my newborn baby screams when on meetings.
too hard to use
Skill issue
I actually went from linux to windows as it suits my needs more.
>Frick this aids ridden prostitute with no condom.
No thanks.
Bro thinks Defender actually protects him
Why are the Boomers moronic? I swear zoomers are smarter than this
>Why are the Boomers moronic? I swear zoomers are smarter than this
Everyone's moronic anon
Windows defender is all you need. Paying more for kaspwrsky or whatever the frick is just a waste of money
>sent from Avast® secured terminal!
Getting hacked or a virus is 100% a skill issue on the user's part. You need 0 anti virus of any sort.
Agreed but defender does its job at keeping morons from giving their pc aids
Based moron. I bet you browse the internet without an adblocker too.
It's more like an inevitability. At some point you will click a suspicious link,go to the wrong website, follow some bad instructions, take a risk you shouldn't take. Your OS and anti-virus,sandbox just serves to delay/lessen your eventual frick-up
Yeah, I do. Because i have computer literacy and know what it does.
51fps is unplayable as well.
I get stable 60 FPS on Windows anyway so why bother
Who cares?
I have a paying job like an adult, so I can easily afford the best PC hardware
I'm not gonna switch a less user-friendly system just to save a few frames
It's absolutely nuts how much I hate women, homie.
what manner of brain rot makes a person destroy 600 dollars worth of hardware over a botched random match in fortnite
To make a statement
guy is enjoying his game, woman shows up to ruin it.
Because I gayme on a 4K120Hz OLED TV

4k165 monitor here.
>d3d12
>vulkan3d
Did you know there's dxvk for windows too? You'd only gain performance switching to linux if there was ram bottleneck (which is surprisingly often these days because modern games are very sensitive to latency, throughput and amount in that order of priority) and elimination of it would outweight translation overhead and even then performance gain wouldn't be that noticable.
>Muh linux gaming
>Literally playing on an emulator for windows games
lmao
>emulator
@NINTENDO @FBI @CIA @MICROSOFT SHUT IT DOWN
A compatibility layer is not an emulator, it's just a system that deals with arbitrary hardcoded requirements of ancient software that was never futureproof designed. Windows itself uses the same kind of compatibility layer. So basically you're saying that playing anything on Windows released before 2016 is using an emulator.
Who plays games not released this year? homosexuals, that's who.
zoooooooooom
my gf wants to play league and vanguard is coming

what in the shitfrick is this consumer grade crap?
but anon I have
Currently installing Fedora KDE, I've had enough of OpenSUSE quirks for one lifetime. One day it decided to break all my games and dont care enough to find out why
the gui i use to make convert videos into webms is not available on linux
no i won't read 50 pages of documentation to do what my windows gui can do in 5 seconds
then just use another one wow. There are GUIs that work on Linux and are probably better because shit that does as simple shit like that that is just one command in ffmpeg shouldnt be that hard to port
He's talking about Webm For Lazys and it's actually a great program
Not only will it precisely calculate finished video size (for Ganker filesize limit purposes) but it's just very lightweight and fast as a video editor, I use it for clipping stuff all the time
It's literally an ffmpeg gui.
i don't want another one. i want the one im using right now (webm for lazys)
So you're like super autistic but with all the moron stuff and none of the smarts?
See
Depending on your usage it's an objective downgrade going from that to the command line
>not using the mpv script
handbrake werks
i made my own one :3
told AI to write it for me.
if anyone wants it here is the script (by AI)

just ask chatgpt for how to use ffmpeg for your particular use case
Just watch a pajeet tutorial on israelitetube, just like you would watch game cutscenes.
>Verification not required.
Valid, but for the fricks sake, just learn to ffmpeg even if you won't switch.
No thumbnails in the file picker.
there are though
>install arch (through archinstall), try different DEs, stick with KDE
>install lutris, all versions of wine, install proprietary nvidia drivers after no luck with the foss ones
>check all the options on steam to run the games through the correct version of proton and follow a myriad of other guides
>games that do not have a linux port will not launch
>frick it, i'll do mint as i'm a moron
>things work out the box, mouse acceleration wouldn't turn off, but frick it i don't play shooters
>turn on pc tomorrow, game's won't run, same as on arch
>reinstall mint, doesn't work anymore, reinstall arch, doesn't work still
I am simply too moronic for this and or it's a hardware issue, i'll have to stick with wangblows 10, sure hope more advancements are made by 2032 so that it becomes brainlet accessible at least
Did you look for support?
fine combed through the arch wiki and a lot of youtube guides, did everything as per instruction and it just wouldn't work
the only thing left was checking error logs (which i didn't know how to do), so i gave up on it and went with mint
dualboot?
Nope, during the 2 weeks i was wrestling with these issues i was hoping for the switch to have been permanent.
that is very odd problem you have then for whatever reason
Windows just works.
The penguin doesn’t work for me. I’m not smart enough for command prompt stuff, so I’ll stick with windows
I can't make the switch because nintendo already makes it.
It's like AMD vs Nvidia.
who are you talking to? Did you forget your meds today?
>normalgays don't think about what they're doing, they just use what's most popular
Not the burn you think it is.
So the point is that this game runs a little bit better under Vulkan?
You can just run vulkan under windows...
But then you have to use Windows
Yes and? It also means the argument of
>linux runs this <game> better
means literally nothing. So what's the upside of linux elsewhere... let me think...
They make for great servers... but that's about it.
Because you lie
Because I am attracted to women.
It's cool if you have to give new life to a potato though, now that I think about it I might try it on an old laptop that I don't even use anymore
thats fine. Windows is good if you use it work with Office and to watch youtube videos and browse tiktoks
or if you need to use any software that isn't some open source student project, like competent photo editors for example.
That's when I know Linux is so shitty for gaming, it's not worth it at all.
name the game
why?
I can already play the game now.
It's too late to pay the attentions to it.
sir
Windows is basically the ultimate cuckolding experience. You get to sit and watch with your wiener in your hand while microsoft fricks your computer right in front of you, cums inside of it, and turns it into a node in its botnet.
I unironically would if i could reliably install it on every mobile phone i'll get my hands on, but mobile linux is somewhere in between of very rough beta and dead in the waters. Get mobile sorted out, you nerds.
>Why the FRICK have you not made the switch yet?
I'm trans
>shoving troony wiener down the throats of billions of users
based Microsoft doesn't beat around the bush and shows how far its customers will get stretched. if one allows themselves to tolerate the adware that is windows they don't get to complain or opt out of the troony propaganda
>frick in all caps
gb2r
So there's this game I wanted to play on windows. It doesn't work.
And I was told to look for it online, but since it's a niche game, I can't find anything about it.
Then I was told to contact microsoft support, and I did. But I waited for half a year and all I got back was "saar please reinstall windows".
Then I was told to try all kind of weird regedits, but still couldn't get it to work.
By chance, it finally work on Steam Deck on some newest windows update. But the game crash quite easily and I have to constantly restart the game
That's when I know windows is so shitty for gaming, it's not worth it at all.
im trying damnit, im running virtualbox passthrough to another ssd and installing linux because its what people kept telling me to do
windows just werks
Frametime is worse on Linux with stuttering
doesnt happen on CachyOS based BORE scheduler
BORE is kernel panic central in my experience
Havent had any problems with it, the newest version 4.5.1 runs way better than any other scheduler, silky smooth
on Elden Ring? The exact opposite
it literally isn't
anon isn't wrong. In Deep rock galactic I got roughly the same frame rate, but frame timing was so shit it felt like I was at half the fps, the worst part was that it wasnt even a consistent shit frame time, it was all over the place
Don't defend these atrocious frametimes
why doesn't this Black person tell you what driver he's using? oh right, because he's using AMDVLK, which is stutter central
Because even with Wayland hidpi displays at 150% scaling still look blurry
Don't use wayland. Fractional scaling works fine on X.
I'm waiting for Microshit to abandon windows 10, by then everyone will be supporting Linux or be starting to.
