As far I know, evidence should be reported before the trial, but whatever, they allowed a parrot to "talk" and they are ok with a little girl being possessed by Mia and being allowed in court.

Why would you ever go testify as a witness before consulting a lawyer if there's any chance of you being a suspect, which there always is if the law enforcement has already interrogated you about the case before (which you also should never do without getting a lawyer there first). Sure, it's extremely questionable why the consulting lawyer would be the case prosecutor, but beyond that I don't see anything wrong happening here.
