Wasnt this game hilariously unoptimized?
For some reason during this period all of koei tecmo games were all broken and very unoptimized to hell.
Their wannabe monster hunter IP with EA absolutely fricking died because no one could play it despite people saying there was a good game in there.
I'm really surprised they fricking crippled like 3-4 game releases solely because of poor optimization.
Koei Tecmo didn't handle COVID well, there was a post-release interview with the director of Stranger of Paradise where he basically said that development got ultra fricked b/c everything shut down right as production went into full swing, then release schedules weren't changed or delayed so they had to speedrun development, essentially.
Nips cant code and SoP sucks ass on all fronts too.The only people left in the gaming industry are the bottom of the barrel and newbies that get crunched into quitting too and japs have way too little of them.
They're teenagers/manchildren who live with their parents and can't upgrade their internet speed or third worlders with shit internet so it takes them an entire day to download 30gb. They need stuff to be small or they need repacks.
Bad optimization. Assets use a single set of textures per asset instead of smart reutilization of some textures. This is also the reason why the game has bad performance.
Because they were forced to rush it out and had very limited budget leading to being unable to optimize it to any degree. Luckily the game is still fantastic and well worth it.
More gigabytes does not mean more content. SoP is that big due to audio and cutscenes. Elden Ring doesn’t have as many minutes of cutscenes and not a lot of audio files to deal with.
But be real with me. Stranger of Paradise or FF16.
Which is the better game?
I am curious about checking one of them out. And since they're the same genre, franchise, and both relatively recent. Which one should I check out? Or check out first at least.
Both of them are great. FFXVI is only on PS5 so that might solve your dilemma immediately. Both games are excellent in terms of action and depth, XVI has many more aerial options and a wider playspace while SoP is more focused on specific areas. SoP has a lot more customizability options due to the Job system as well as a much wider degree of builds due to how gear works, though much of that tends to only kick in properly in later difficulties and DLC. XVI in comparison mainly focuses just on what abilities you choose to change how you approach scenarios and they take much longer to get, but they are still very distinct.
because elden ring uses assets from previous games which saves them spaces.
so if you have any of the older fromsoft games on your pc then they basically use animations, weapon textures and their sounds from those games because if they didn't the game would easily be ofer 150GB
lol
lmao even
those wallpaper elden ring screenshots look nothing like the real game if you look at it from those places
stranger is far superior graphically
High quality audio tends to make up a majority of filesize for modern games. Elden Ring is a massive game but it doesn't have a wide variety of music or a ton of dialogue. Final Fantasy games always have a ton of music and words words words.
In addition to poor optimization there's a bunch of loose files, including over 9gb of .wmv files for ability previews and prerendered cutscenes, several of which aren't used in favor of rendering the cutscene normally anyway
which reminds me I blamed FSR for making this cutscene look like shit but I guess they just recorded it that way
All the DLC boss fights are great, and the new difficulties (or at least Lufenia difficulty) add more to old bosses, I'd say it's worth it for that
I didn't really care for rift and if you have to ask if the DLC is worth buying you probably won't either
Need those extra gb to contain Jack's strength
Scratch that, it's 71gb prior to patch, patch Is another 16gb just frick my storage up

I don't think anything is ever
>hilariously
un-optomized
I would say Pokemon Scarlet/Violet's poor optimization is genuinely funny.
It's funny until you remember it broke series sales records and what that tells developers, and more importantly publishers.
>and what that tells developers, and more importantly publishers.
Absolutely nothing they didn't already know years ago my man.
Well, I can't speak for the first guy but that is indeed why I don't laugh so much at it anymore.
Laughing at it is merely my coping mechanism.
Pokemon has to be one of the only franchises where the fanbase will so willingly chug down this level of slop. They've mastered nostalgia
why do people give anu fricking shit about game size?
just unInstall shit youre not playing, it doesnt delete your saves.
people like op are either hoarder types and want 500 games installed at once or too poor to buy a larger ssd
Frick off, it takes like one hour to install this shit.
>i cant wait, one hour, i NEED to play right now!
between this and the fact that you like elden ring im so fricking happy i wasnt born as you

Theres a few characters that only appear for 1 or 2 cutscenes but have models with several magnitudes more detail than everything else
To better contain Neon's cuteness

it's kind of incredible that this game turned out as good as it did
I hate games with bloated filesizes.
But be real with me. Stranger of Paradise or FF16.

might as well play SoP first because it's shorter
I'd just wait until FF16 gets on PC so you might as well play SoP

That makes no sense at all. The assets being from older games or not doesn't make them smaller. Elden ring looks better than this game.

actual moron

The format that will never die
so CHAOS has inflated the size of this game to make it harder and longer to download it to harddrive. I will destroy CHAOS.
I finished the main game this weekend, should i buy the dlc?
