Why the frick there haven't been more games like pic related? 40k is a fricking incredible universe, an fps of some of the major battles would be fricking incredible
>muh necromunda
A worthless doom clone doesn't count

Because GamesWorkshop is fricking moronic and only gives the IP to literal who studios that turn it into something garbage. Only good 40k game from recent time would be Mechanicus and that is literally just Xcom.
>Because GamesWorkshop is fricking moronic
I did the shitty captchas just to strongly agree with this
>Mechanicus
>literally just Xcom.
moron that didn't play it.
When are we getting that MMORPG where you can pick your starting race and raid planets with your spaceship?
Mechanicus surprised me so much with how good it actually was, I had so much fricking fun playing it
>mfw seeing one of those shitty budget mobile game ads that uses stock sound effects but it was for a fricking WH40K game
What the frick is GW doing with their breadwinning IP?
Burning all their money on an animation streaming service that will fail in a year, maybe sooner.
That whole situation was so moronic.
>animations like Astartes get millions of views and provide huge amounts of free advertising
>GW takes them all down and locks future animations behind a subscription service that only hardcore 40K fans will pay for
I hope they fricking die. Absolutely garbage company.
I think they've gone from one extreme to the other. I remember when Relic was literally the only dev allowed to make 40K games.
>Because GamesWorkshop is fricking moronic
this is unironically the answer
Or maybe good games studios don't want to work on a trashy IP like this and accept whatever terms gw gives them.
gw isn't commissioning these games.
WRONG
This is not what is happening. GW doesn't choose or seek out anyone. It's the other way around. Only literal whos want this license. If some bigger dev would want it, they would reach an agreement, like happened with CA. But no big dev has any need to share profits with GW. Any big publisher can make IP out of thin air and via marketing sell millions. Literal whos need some license or else nobody else would bother with their shovelware. If they get any Warhammer license they already have dedicated consoomers ready to spend money on their product. Those devs would rather use Star Wars and Lotr if they could, but they can't. So they have to resort to Warhammer
GW is not at fault here at all. And their approach is actually preferable, because so what that 9 out of 10 games are turd? I will simply not buy them and instead play that one that is good or at least promising. If not for their approach there would be no Vermintide. And even Battlefleet Gothic and Mechanicus are fun.
Sega and Relic was probably the biggest publisher/developer on Warhammer before DoW3 happened. Now CA's probably the biggest.
Not enough trannies and Black folk
Not yet but dont worry GW is working on it
Unironically and literally have a nice day
ywnbaw
i already am sweetie 😉
How to kill myself ironically?
necromunda
bros is this worth playing if I like grand scale battles and cinematic cutscenes with a good story?
it doesn't really have either of those things but you get to duke it out with some wacky orks
so what is so good about it?
you sustain off of executions so you power through orks like a motherfricker feeling like a badass spess mehreen bringing the Emperor's fury
and the ork warboss is hilarious
Its a pretty simple story but it is a pretty nice gory spectacle with a decent sense of scale you will enjoy it.
>40k is a fricking incredible universe
no
this, it's capeshit crap
>Why the frick there haven't been more games like pic related?
Just play one of those Transformers third person shooters, literally the same thing.
At least Necromunda wasn’t shat out their ass with no effort like Space Marine was. Space Marine fans have never even played another 40k game like Dawn of War or Space Hulk in their life.
Yes space marine is very generic and uninteresting, never understood the reverence for it.
GW are dumb nonces
Relic hits gold and just stop, like how Creative Assembly stops making kino action game like Spartan: Total Warrior.
I really don't understand why RTS devs have so much experiences doing action/strategy games hybrid but they just refuse to make more.
Yeah, it's a shame they stopped at Dawn of War II. would've been cool to see them make a third game that was closer to the first one.
DoW2 was superior to the first game
>set on a forgeworld
>not a red cloak in sight
Space marine dropped the ball HARD on the tone and setting. If you stripped away Titus' blue paint and coloured the orks grey or something it would be literally any other grungy sci-fi game.
Absolutely Heretekal
You get to see like two or three locations in the game and all of them are overrun by the orkz. Batltlefield is no place for cogboys.
>Batltlefield is no place for cogboys
Glorified walking mechanical onaholes, nothing more
Titan dock would be the cogheads primary concern, though.
god i frickin love skitarii
The skitarri got fricked over quickly and hard by the Ork invasion, Id assume most robe boys were definitely dead, dying or hiding by that point
Wouldn't it be more amazing to join and support teams of eccentric Skitarii and their Secutors overseers instead of generic Cadian radio lady? Space marine is so fricking bland it's like plain white bread with nothing on it.
That's the point. Space Marine was designed for people who dont know shit about 40k and wanted to play something cool, so they made the story as bland as 40k can be, which is still pretty interesting if you dont know much about it or not at all.
I remember interviews with Relic and GW shit at the time, and its why they picked UM as protags instead of Relic's own Blood Ravens, since the UM are designed to be newbie friendly on the TT as well from a lot of standpoints
But yes it probably would have been more interesting and thematic for actual admech stuff, but people might have been too weirded out by it, so I can see why they played it safe and went with the Cadians who are the cookie cutter UM equivalent in the Guard
also this was back in 2011, long before GW had solidified any kind of design or solid theme for the Skitarri in particular. So GW might have even mandated not to have any designs for Skitarri. Remember this was in the early 2010s so GW was probably a lot more anal and less collaborative than they are now with say, CA and TWW3
Not him but I watched that Ultramarine movie recently. That’s all I have to say.
Honestly it was around this time that I stopped giving a shit about 40k and GW for a while, that movie was embarrassingly bad
The bit of goriness that there was was neat but most of it was so lore unfriendly. The exploding car trap would’ve never even worked, spess mareens have life sensors for like miles away.
>mfw it looked like a diablo 2 cinematic
Dead is the most likely, no way would the cogboys leave the defence of a Warlord class titan's fate to the IG.
>you will see 40k become star trek, star war, battletech, DnD, and doctor who before you die
This doesn't feel good boys
>Why the frick there haven't been more games like pic related
What you talking about, we had plenty of generic third person shooters
sci-fi is a big risk for big budget games. normalgays are like animals and fiction hurts their minds.
Yeah. Stuff like Halo is an exception rather than the rule, many sci-fi properties arent too mainstream compared to how many cool sci-fi games/movies/books there are that in comparison barely anyone knows about in the cultural zeitgeist
the warhammer franchise fricking sucks. They ruined it. They gave away that license way to easy and now there is no quality in anything. The base boardgame fricking sucks and is more expansive than ever with less detailed figures to rip you off more. The games all suck. Dawn of war tried to be a moba and was a stillbirth. All warhammer games are fricking dogshit.
I've always wanted a Fantasy rpg, but I'd settle for more good single player 40k games
I played the Fantasy mount and blade warband mod for a while as a chaos barbarian. Was pretty funny chopping shit up, the chaos dudes are like twice the size of normal models lol
I have a theory.
I think GW actively discourages and doesn't allow really high quality 40K games because they might detract from figure sales. Now you may think "Well anon, that sounds fricking moronic, that goes against everything that they teach you in Marketing 101", and you'd be correct. GW has shown many times in the last few months they're run by incompetent suits that have no idea what they're doing.
That, or talented devs simply no longer give a frick about 40k or are unwilling to put up with GW meddling.
Friendly reminder.
The image already have Darktide included, moron.
Wait, fantasy fans exist?
Total Warhammer has been pretty popular the last few years
Yes. Tick tock, Stormie!
I only prefer Fantasy because it has less shit games overall compared to 40k.
Mechanicus is so good
>eternal crusadd
It was the closest what we had to warfield 40.000
Based 40k fans.
spacehulk deathwing is pretty awsome if you can get past the jank
big E.Y.E. fan and I would love to play deathwing if it didn’t crash over and over on my laptop whenever i try to walk too far away from the spawn
It's gonna be good lads... right? RIGHT?
>A Grey Knights reskin of Mechanicus
Yea, about what I expected. Funny, a mod for the original Xcom managed to be more fun and engaging than any of this tripe.
This one actually looks real nice.
>There will never be a Sniper Elite: Vindicare
>your gun jams when you try to snipe an Eldar farseer qt
