I get that Diamond and Pearl are a bit slow and not the best when it comes to Variety (which was fixed in Platinum) and the gen 4 remakes where dogshit but it isn't the worst gen, gen 2 has worst variety since most of the pokemon you encounter are gen 1 pokemon and the 3D games aside from gen 7 are worst than platinum.

I grew up with gen 4 and I will admit its not the best but its not the worst, I'm not blinded by nostalgia otherwise I wouldn't think gen 5 was the best and I didn't even play a gen 5 game until when I was already an adult which was back when gen 8 was the latest gen because gen 5 looked unappealing at first.
Is it that the gen 4 haters have only played Diamond and Pearl and have never played Platinum? If so then what if I decided that Ruby and Sapphire are shit but Emerald is amazing but I never played Emerald so I can just pretend it never existed and gen 3 was always shit which is not true and I love gen 3 more than gen 4.

God that dual slot gimmick was so cool.
They're honestly really low quality games. There's a lot of substance to them which I will give credit for and put it above generations like 5/6/7/8, but the things it offers are not actually fun to play. dungeons are the weakest they've ever been, gimmicks like honey trees and swarms are uninteractive and the game isn't challenging enough for an adult player to really be engaged in. The Frontier is nice because of all the additional Pokemon but the scope being lessened due to the reduction of facilities and new ones that I think are weaker concepts makes me not like it as much.
Any reason you didn't suck off Wayward Cave for having darkness like you did for Rock Tunnel? Or at least mention how the area with Gible is secret and easy to miss?

not a excuse, that just makes DP even worse in hindsight, people who were invested enough in the series to get the earliest Gen 4 games were punished a barren regional dex for no reason, and Platinum is only SLIGHLY better

wrong, Gen 2 had the decency to have nearly every existing pokemon at the time be obtainable with the sole exception being the Gen 1 starters, Gen 1 legends, and Gen 1 Fossils. Also the main reason why Gen 1 Pokemon were so common was became more Gen 1 Pokemon existed since due to shit 90's technology Gen 2 didn't have the privilege of adding more than 100 new pokemon that later gens had.
Meanwhile DP only has 107 new Pokémon (some one which being event only mythicals) despite having none of the limits Gen 2 had, restricts itself to a regional dex of a measly 150 because KANTOOOO did it, and arbitrarily favors GeNWUn Pokemon in wild encounters despite there being plenty of non-GenWun Pokemon existing this time.
The Platinum essay is one of the most embarrassing things to come out of this website btw. Every discussion eventually devolves to:
