He was a deluded british vilain. Many such cases.
He was insane. Just like Solid and Solidus, I think they are all fricked in the head canonically. Or maybe not insane, just autistic
How was Solid or Solidus insane?
>raise child soldiers in Liberia
>kidnap the president
>that fricking laugh when he finds himself at Federal Hall
>how was Solidus insane?
Don't know about Solid but Solidus was definitely out of his mind
solidus was megalomaniacal and villainous and probably broadly fits the description of insane but solid snake was clearly lucid despite his proclivities towards violence and war. i wouldn't say the latter is insane but he's more complex than a typical good guy to the extent that i wouldn't really call him one at all. psycho mantis who claims to have seen true evil and has looked into snake's mind purports that snake is even more evil than liquid and himself and liquid also remarks how it's evidently clear that snake enjoys killing which catches snake offguard in a way that suggests he's been unmasked. still i wouldn't say snake is evil or mad, just flawed. you can hardly even say he was born, he was "created" and at that for the express purpose of fighting, it's natural that his inclination would be towards combat, including to the death.
I still don't know what the frick Mantis is talking about as the only thing I could see applying to Solid is utter amorality and zero compunction towards killing just about anyone if he deems it necessary while Mantis freely admits he just joined in on the Shadow Moses plot to kill as many people as he possibly could
>Solid
>insane
he's not insane but you could make an argument that solid was unironically autistic.
Not insane, he was jealous of Snake's "superior" genes, and he wanted to prove that he was strong, too
He wasn't insane, just a bit eccentric
It's autism max, not insanity
Snake was injected with nanomachines in MGS
MGS 2 had nanomachines everywhere, Raiden had them, E. E. had them, I think the president had them, and probably Ames
honestly I always thought the genome soldiers were kind of underutilized. He has a group of discarded soldiers implanted with his genes, there's definitely potential for a strong kinship there that only gets explored to the extent of a few lines in a cutscene. I guess it'd kind of make the player feel like a dick if they went too far into it.
Wasn't he actually genetically superior to Snake.
That's the point of his character. He was obsessed with an idea of predetermined destiny outlined by genetics, and so he eventually perishes to a virus targeting his genome, despite inexplicably surviving several life-threatening accidents in a span of few hours before and having barely a scratch on himself afterwards. He had everything to change the world as he wished, but his obsession with destiny could only lead to a shameful finale for himself. Liquid is a tragic character.
The end sequence with Snake shooting him repeatedly with a machine gun broke my suspension of disbelief.
Nanomachines, son.
are nanomachines even mentioned in mgs1 ? thought it was introduced in mgs4.
Yes, although it became a meme plot point in MGS4.
snake straight up got injected with nanomachine by naomi during the briefing
The nanomachines in MGS1 are actually on the micrometer scale, but the internal components are on the nanometer scale. Snake was injected with them before the mission.
They are multi-purpose. For example, they can directly stimulate the small bones in Snake's ear so that he can silently "hear" his connected codec. By the way, the codec in MGS1 is just a walkie talkie with a screen. There was a thread on here the other day saying that Snake reacting to visual of the Master Miller reveal was a plot hole, so that's why I looked into it.
I've been playing it recently with the official guide which fills in a LOT of gaps. Kojima wrote the opening of the guide and signed it, so I guess it's canon.
oh so living through a burning helicopter, burning giant walking tank, and being thrown off said tank is just fine and dandy then?
>The Last Days of FOXHOUND
>MGS's infamously-bad grasp on genetics is brought up: "Mantis would have a conniption"
>300 strips later...
RUSSIAN CHILD PORN
Oh my god I haven't thought about this in about fifteen years. What a fricking rush.
>Why was he so stuck up about his genes?
>he didn't even understand the genetic field very well
try /misc/, you'll see this is a realistic combination of traits.
Kinda this. His Genes are recessive, yet they are superior. He wrongfully assumed that recessive = inferior. Unlike /misc/ Who know without a shadow of a doubt that recessive genes = superior genes. Anyone can shit on a flower ruining it, but that doesn't mean people are going to line up to smell shit.
Taking only the dominant or recessive genes and putting them into a clone doesn't make any sense at all, the vast majority of a person's genome are non coding DNA but are essential in the structural of the DNA molecule. The coding strands of DNA need to be in a certain position for them to perform their role in gene expression properly. Taking half of them from a subject and putting them in one clone and the other half into another is like cutting a car in half and expecting each side to work afterwards.
Not that it has to make sense, I actually like how Kojima uses the concept to inform the conflict between Solid and Liquid and each of their attitudes towards their own genetic lineage.
Holy shit, I did NOT expect this to be so good
what the frick, sounds just like them
ok, I watched more than 30 seconds and it's not that good, but still good
SSSSSSRRUYYUYYSSSTYYYYY
So maybe it's because I'm 9UUUUUUGHHHHHHHHHMAD UIGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHUUUUUUUGHUHHHH LIQQWUIIIIIIID IU USUUUUGUUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHHHGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHUUUUGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
He's a fatalist which contrasts with Snake being someone willing to entertain uncertainty.
