Fricking this. Holy shit if there was one thing Elden Ring failed out it was making it so the environment was actually dangerous. Like where the frick are the traps and mimics and cool shit like that? I want to go down a long hallway only to get halfway through and a giant boulder come rolling toward me at the end forcing me to make a half second decision. I want to open a door only for it to be a trap where a guillotine comes swiping down at me.
Like what the frick from. I don't give a shit about the bosses in Elden Ring, they are legit all just large humans with big swords or axes. Like give me some fricking cool shit.
>Why don't they just make every level Sen's Fortress
Because it doesn't make sense to design a castle or fort that can just as easily kill its defenders as it does its invaders
this. and STR and DEX builds actually feel different. as in: everything since Bloodborne just feels the same, with the only difference between them being a slight difference in weapon size and attack speed.
pandering to streamers and boss gays killed these games. the entire discussion has shifted from discussing memorable locations and level design to EBIN HARDCORE boss fights. no wonder Elden Ring was so saturated with constant recycled boss encounter. they think that people will get bored if they don't see a boss's health bar every 5 minutes.
Such a goddamn shame they immediately abandoned the whole interconnected world thing after Dark Souls. It's what made the game so special.
Separated levels, bonfire warping, level up waifus, constant trips to base for managing character and equipment.. sucks the soul right out.
Sekiro has the interconnected world design from DS1, but ruins it by giving you warp from the start. I became so much more immersed when I stopped using it.
I've literally never heard of anyone complaining about the lordvessel. Do you mean people complain about it because it enables fast travel? Or because it smells like asparagus?
I've never seen that typed or heard someone say that. If anything I see universal praise for the lack of fast travel up until receiving the ability from Gwynevere. And a general disappointment that fast travel was freely given from the start to all From Software games after that.
well i have. i know a dude in particular who likes das2 more just because he thinks the walking in 1 is waste of time and he wants to go to and fro immediately.
Don't bother debating troony Ring revisionists. They desperately want to fit in.
take your meds schizo, this isn't even an argument
The setting and (some) level design are great, but gameplay-wise it is a pig to play and enemies are poorly designed. Just finished my last ever playthrough yesterday and will never touch it again. It did a great job setting the scene for future games, and I enjoy watching it or reading about it, but I will never play it again
More focus on a sense of adventure and navigating a dangerous world than boss fights.
This. Everything from Bloodborne onwards is just the same dodge-spam boss repeated ad nauseam, separated by corridors with some enemies in between.
Bloodborne at least had cool enemy variety and secret shit to find.
Elden ring, it's literally just zombies, some knights, repasted gargoyles, fricking jars and a bear.
all which you can skip with the horse
>navigating a dangerous world than boss fights.

Correct. Part of the reason I hate the remaster. The added bonfires ruin careful balance.
Nandatto are kimi wa talking about? Theres only like ichi or ni added bonnufiyah
See

Ah yes, Dark Souls II
yes, that game too.
I 'miss' Sen's Fortress.
It's in the name

yeah. Elden Ring feels like a regression in terms of open world design.
I stopped playing the soulsbornekiroring games after DS3. I figured there won't be another game like the first Dark Souls.

Why can't they go back to creating interconnected worlds again?
Why don't they just make another souls with an interconnected world and no/limited fast travel? It seems like such a no-brainer
They did, its called hollow knight
Thanks, that's not the same at all
Because these games are now boss rush action games, not adventure games.
because people complained about the lordvessel
I've literally never heard of anyone complaining about the lordvessel. Do you mean people complain about it because it enables fast travel? Or because it smells like asparagus?
i mean people complained they didn't have access to fast travel immediately and had to work for it
I've never seen that typed or heard someone say that. If anything I see universal praise for the lack of fast travel up until receiving the ability from Gwynevere. And a general disappointment that fast travel was freely given from the start to all From Software games after that.

That...is literally the thing people praise ds1 the most for
i didn't say it was an exclusive thing. i've seen people say it's either a good or a bad thing depending on who you ask.
Learn to read, or maybe just play the game first before posting.
souls are literally used as money stupid

Yeah, the gameplay has aged really poorly.
