Different target audience, the Yuugiou manga was targeted at older teenagers, at least in the beginning. Also I think introducing completely new characters each new series is good and I wouldn't mind the Pokémon anime doing that

Yes. How the frick do people not know this when it took months for the card game to appear in the manga and then another half year to appear a second time? The real world card game was made after the Pegasus arc, which is why that arc is so full of weird ass rules that don't actually exist in the real world game.

Pokemon has an immortal protagonist with amnesia, not because the story demands it but because that is required to sell toys/games. The pokemon anime is just an ad with almost no redeeming qualities. Its even an inferior ad, since transformers, he-man, Gi Joe, and the tmnt were also ads but at least they respected their audience.

As if the Yugioh show doesn’t almost entirely focus on the MC and how much of a chosen one he is, with the complete filler episode focusing on a side character.
