Everything came together for a 9/10 Battlefield game.
Only BF1 comes close but they fricked the gameplay up. Fixable, but they never will.
BF4 is better in many ways but is pretty bad in some others.
It wasn't. Completely garbage on start, then for 2 years dice broke anything out of value. Bf3 was a start of a fall.
It was the perfect mp shooter.
BF2042 would be better if it had better maps and the same gunplay as BF3.

They don't need to change the whole game. They just need to adjust the gunplay and make better maps.
The maps just have far to many angles and it is impossible to defend or even attack because you can't cover every angle. That and there is also a lot of verticality so not only to you have to cover the ground but also above you.
The weapons have no recoil and you can pretty much kill anyone with any weapon from 100m+ away. The shotguns are ridiculously overpowered, you can kill someone with an auto shotgun from over 50 meters.
BF3 and BF4 had good gunplay that took skill to use, you had to tap fire to kill people at range and you couldn't kill people at range with all weapons.

I fricking hated BF's spread and how accuracy affected if your bullets will go to target or not in really corny way in older games but after playing BF5 and 2042 god damn that shit was fine as hell. In a game like BF with big ass maps and that TTK weapons being insanely accurate laser beams smoked skill gap.
Is this game dead? Has everyone moved on to 1, 4 and 5?
Still has people playing in Europe and UK. Not sure about burger land and other countries.
Was playing it a month or 2 ago on console and it still had a decent amount of players. I could get into full lobbies on the weekends
moronic server hosts killed it with fake playercounts that made finding a full match impossible for the average player.

I remember passing the sniping mission by knifing a lawn chair on the roof, staring at a corner. Game so cinematic it doesn't even need you to play it.
No one cares about the single player
Except for the developers that spent millions on it, of course. In time it will be the only remaining playable part of the game.
I actually enjoyed the single player but the mp is what everyone bought it for.

Damavand Peak Rush base jump was something else. 13 years later and not a single MP game has made a level this kino.
If only they had nerfed TV missiles, which made open field unplayable, and done some simple gun balance in time. At least they fixed that in BF4, but it just didn't have the same magic.

I still think BF2 was the greatest but it might just be nostalgica coloring it for me
Nothing really topped Karkand for the epic city slog for me and getting the G3 only to find out the stock AK was the best gun in the game
The PS3 version still makes me do a double take because of how good it looks.
