Why wasnt AoW Planetfall more successful, it perfected modern AoW games formula, its more polished than AoW4. Despite of that its considered a flop and rarely mentioned in 4X discussions.

I AM STILL MAD THEY REMOVED UNIT LORE
>muh lore
Nobody cares about that shit. I don't need pages of bad fanfiction in my strategy games. Nobody wants to read that.
Okay but AoW unit descriptions are actually good
>fanfiction
my Black person it ain't fanfiction if it's official
>Why was a paid reskin mod of a subpar game a failure?
No idea, OP. No idea.
Nta, but which part of "nobody cares" you didn't get the first time?
>paid reskin mod
what game are you talking about
I care
homosexuals
And you’re a worthless subhuman nobody
If you don't care about the details then there's zero point to playing big strategy games
ANCIENTLY
I don't think it is considered a flop. For example a really common post I see when someone asks if they should get AoW4 yet, is to just get Planetfall instead. I think it did pretty well for itself. Not as well as AoW4, but well enough.
Oh shit, no never mind. I just checked steam charts and it has almost half the all time peak of AoW3 and a quarter of AoW4. That probably is considered a flop then.
It's a sci-fi game in a fantasy series. 'nuff said.
>Why wasnt AoW Planetfall more successful
Because the graphic design was shit
Half the faction look unappealing as frick
Le punk tesla undead
Le laser dino amazons
Le space mecha paladins
Only factions looking cool were Syndicate, Kirko and Dvar, Vanguard was too generic looking
>bugz are more cool than entire faction of screwheads
Just no
Its just your opinion. For me factions design is kino as frick. Game way more fun than AoW4
>Its just your opinion
beauty is objective and pf is ugly
You know putting "le" in front of something isn't an argument
>A tone argument (also called tone policing) is a type of ad hominem aimed at the tone of an argument instead of its factual or logical content in order to dismiss a person's argument.
Didn't people hate the sci-fi setting when it came out?
Its artstyle was all over the place, several class/race combos have no synergy, the randomly generated maps look awful and the campaign was ALL randomly generated maps. I think it's a fun game and I rather play it over aow4 any day though.
So I fricked up and these homies appeared at my capital and now the're just patiently waiting while I come over with my main army and whoop their asses. What the frick? Is the AI this dysfunctional?
Because if we're being honest, AoW games are really fricking repetitive, so the only people playing them are fantasy larping homosexuals. Planetfall tried to make factions way more interesting and varied, but as we can see with AoW4 the game's audience would rather jerk off to generic fantasy with any semblance of soul replaced with "+2 stat" modifiers.
Not that Planetfall was amazing or anything. I really wish they focused on a proper Warcraft 3 style campaign. Planetfall could have been that, but again with meh reception they just backtracked to the same old with patches and DLC. Enjoy your le epic campaigns where every game has 2-3 modifiers applied to it.
I picked it up on the summer sale after falling in love with AoW 4 but haven't been able to play yet
Xcom Style combat and unappealing factions for me.
if i want to play xcom, ill play xcom
its a space setting, but only 1 faction was non humans.
