The developers just randomly put a unique vehicle sprite in a place that is practically impossible to get to.
It was originally going to be just on some map, as seen in the early r/g assets in the source leak. Once that map was scrapped and remade they probably decided to just sneak the truck in somewhere so it didn't completely go to waste.

That glitch has been known for a long time and it's not a legit way of catching Mew seeing as the Mew isn't recognised as legit by Pokemon Bank

The original trainer will be you, not an event.
That mew ain't right
On it's own, the Pokemon Bank doesn't recognize it - but you can ACE the Original Trainer to 'GF' and send it over; you can even manipulate the EVs in such a way that it'll become shiny when sent over. Once Bank accepts it and it gets traded over to HOME, it gets 'legitimized' and becomes a perfectly normal, functioning Mew useable anywhere (though I advise against taking it into official tournaments).
I've sent several Mew over using the method, so it most certainly works.

High quality and high effort Pokemon game, new region to explore, massive amount content that doesn't feel padded, Pokemons up from Gen 1 to 8 all in well drawn 2D sprites, ability to dress your character, to change the difficulty as you see fit etc. Only downside is edgy story but you can skip the cutscenes. Very good OST. Probably the best existing Romhack if you want something closer to vanilla with some additional touches you wish were in the original games.

Yes GBA Gameshark for gameboy color was released in 98, Crystal was 2000, so that shop owner was 100% just selling kids hacked Pokemon for 20 bucks a pop which is very funny. After this in 2000 there was the Pokemon 2000 Stadium Tour which had a Mew Machine you could connect to and get a Mew, and you also got the certificate of authenticity like

how similar is scarlet/violet to legends arceus? because frankly I realized at some point (probably when I couldn't even get three gyms deep into a playthrough of RSE, which I have intense nostalgia for) that I just straight up dont' care for the core combat of a pokemon game despite liking pretty much everything else it has going for it. Arceus is, to be polite, a glorified tech demo and yet I enjoyed wandering around its environments and documenting pokemon a hell of a lot more than I have most other games in the series. also I keep seeing the new pokemon from the DLC and frankly I just think it's very cute.

They're a little different. SV is an open world game where you can explore the entire map without anything really stopping you while PLA has you unlock new areas linearly. PLA is less focused on battling and more on catching while SV has all the usual battle mechanics. That said since you can progress the map however you want, SV is great for pokedex completion, so you might get the same enjoyment out of SV that you did for PLA. The only thing really restricting you from some things is needing to unlock upgrades for the ride pokemon, similar to needing HMs like Surf, but since the game is open world you can unlock them as fast as you'd like. You can even get the DLC content if you'd like and can access the places there early too, giving you more areas to go to and catch pokemon.
Despite the Open World format of S/V, Those games are unfortunately, very much a Typical Pokemon game.
You'd probably wouldn't enjoy them since I'm in the same situation as you. I put in 100 hours into PLA in under a week but dropped Scarlet after the 2nd day it came out. All the new features and changes cannot hide the fact that everyone has been buying and playing the same game for 25 years.

It's really not that hard to discover Cinnabar's glitchy water tiles, just surf up and down expecting to grind on tentacools only to end up fighting a ponyta or something and you already have more than enough information to try exploiting it in ways that'll eventually lead to finding missingno.
Personally what I find weird is that people took so long to find the mew glitch, literally all you do is interrupt a trainer battle by flying away and then figure out some way to re-enable text boxes and weird shit will just start happening around you.
