Will Cyberpunk go down in history as one of the biggest fricking scams and disappointments in gaming out there?

So far the only contender I could imagine overtaking them is either Star Citizen (if it actually even ever comes out) or Starfield.

Ganker needs to realize that people actually do love blasting mooks and selling junk while wubwub sounds are playing in your ears for 20 hours straight. The only reason this game got half as much shit as it did was because it was quite literally unplayable but otherwise this really is the modern gamer's dream game. I'm not the smartest here but could it have loaded the assets ahead of time? Like a duplication in ways other games have gotten around fade to blacks?

              Anonymous

              >loaded the assets ahead of time
absolutely. there are more advanced methods. but even a moron can see that you see naked V at 0:14 and he's fully there at 0:16. And basically nothing happens during that tame that requires dynamic loading - like V swapping shirts or something. So you just populate the scene starting with black square rigth up to camera and then add 2 seconds of standing still to animation. Probably doesn't even require engine coding and can be patched in as animation / quest script.

So i'm fairly certain many of those blatant, core game element ruining bugs are due to some entitled butthole forcing moronic ways things should be done. Cuz it hiz vizhan, or because thats how we do things since MS-DOS or or... you know the usual manager bullshit.

      >shows how little people care about the industry anymore
It just shows how profitable AAA game dev is now. In 1995 a studio would die after such a failure, but not because people cared, just because there isn't enough margin for error and investors were skittish. Now the industry is more than 10 times larger (30B vs 380B today) so any studio of devs who have any sort of track record gets investors for the hope of the +10 million copies sold game.

Either way, cancelling a vague DLC isn't in any way comparable to quickly using stickers to cover up missing features at launch while still persisting in the lie.

It's servicable, but there are little surprises or plot twists, especially since they spoiled better half of it in trailers and the other half was fabrication that wasn't in game.

There's some depth to the premise, but they never dig at it. It's always lost under the dumb to bone one-liners, neon-puke graphics and fragmentation of their quest engine. Like the strugle between V and Johnny could've been much deeper, both script wise and gameplay element wise.

Both the game and anime functioned as a story with little else going on. The anime worked better because you had a cast of set characters that could work off each other but the game suffers the usual "OC make your toony" shit that makes good stories mediocre and ok stories being garbage. It's why the Witcher games were so good, you were playing a flesh out person. Not some blob that they can't even assume the gender of.

Luckily I didn't buy into that, because I know better than to expect anything out of CDPR's official modding tools given how well Witcher 2 and 3 went over on that front.
Bethesda games don't really get proper mod support until a year or two in anyways either, and until a script extender gets released they're completely useless anyways.

      Anonymous

      >Expansion overhauls the whole game.
I liked this game and I think the expansion is getting seriously overblown. Most of the changes largely seem aesthetic or are things ripped directly from mods. Cops spawning around corners instead of out of thin air right next to you is hardly an achievement, and they haven't actually shown any vehicle combat except for stuff similar to the on rails shooting from car segments that are already in game.

While stripping away the focus on incremental stats and the dogshit weapon scaling for a more action oriented game and perks focused on abilities and movement instead of crap like +5% to critical chance is a good change and one the game should have gone for from the start, that alone isn't going to warrant the hype this expansion is getting.

I really hope the crafting system is dumped or remodeled with this, but since they haven't mentioned it yet, I doubt it.

        Anonymous

Of course the expansion is overblown, the only thing they said they were going to fix was cops not spawning behind you anymore

Played through the whole game, at lunch with the high end computer.. had no issues..great game

Porting this game to the last gen system was a mistake, PS4 older Xbox .. what were they thinking??
But putting that aside the game was objectively good on proper hardware.

      Anonymous

Yes last gen consoles were a massive factor holding the game back but there are some fundamental design decisions that are also kinda fricked. The games inconsistency between wanting to be an action title and a crpg hold it back.

Enemy difficulty almost always solely becing a matter of how high their stats are as opposed to how potent their abilities and cyberware are is a noticable flaw that drags down the game. What the player is capable with movement and abilities is fun, but there is hardly a single opponent in the game capable of providing a challenge that requires the player to use any skills they've obtained. Even Adam Smasher, the settings version of "Rocks Fall, Everyone Dies" can barely touch any half decent build at the game's highest difficulty.

I feel like that's entirely on them. Because every gameplay presentation they did was pretty much how the game ended playing, with a few cut features like wallrunning, which they were upfront about. It was as described and nothing more, and for some reason everyone expected more.

That pole who owns the studio made a huge error when he told The Witcher RPG devs to hand-craft a teaser trailer before the devteam had decided on what kind of game it would be.
    >RPG guys promised an RPG
    >whoops turns out the other team who shilled "lets make GTA because GTA makes the big money" ended up being the direction that upper management decided on (but then failed to even make a good bootleg GTA)
    >The Witcher devs have all left the company by this point because they were burned by management

      Anonymous

Sans trying to make the game compatible with last gen consoles, the RPG elements are definitely the biggest mistake in the game. The game should have focused entirely on Action from the starts. Drop garbage like health bars and gun stats and focus entirely on enemies with interesting abilities while the player has their own.

It's the same system from Witcher 3. Completely garbage system, but I guess nobody complain about loot system in Witcher 3, so they leave it that way.

            Anonymous

Everyone complained about it. It was just easy to ignore because the Witcher sets exist.

            Anonymous

No its significantly worse, because the Witcher allows you to always upgrade stuff as long as you have materials. There are also several witcher sets which are just objectively better than 99.9% of the stuff you find, so looting weapons can reliably be ignored. In Cyberpunk you need points in a specific skill tree in order to build or upgrade numerous weapons. Upgrading weapons takes exponentially more components each time you level, so if you get an Epic or Legendary item early its stupidly expensive to keep it up to spec.

              Anonymous

For most of the guns you can just recraft them. But also components are super cheap and in abundance at vendors.
