      >has vagrant story kino vibes
      >will have dmc5 combat
Everything else could be shit and it would still be worth playing.

Its built off the bones of the old Ivalice team so hopefully.

Certainly not. No Matsuno, no kino. You can tell by how FFXII first few hours were complete Dumas-inspired kino and then it went to generic shit once you get past Burmecia or whatever that flying city was, while keeping the cool ivalice universe but without the soul.

Bhujerba doesn't even have identity visually, so stop making Matsuno out like he's something amazing. All Bhujerba is known for is DON'T BELIEVE ONDORE'S LIES and that place you fight Gilgamesh near a mine i guess.

Yoshi-P regularly talks with Matsuno. Matsuno was his role model growing up.

    I don't think so.
Visually FF16 doesn't look as good and the gameplay doesn't seem to be similar either.

Not in the artstyle department for sure

Vagrant Story doesn't even live up to Vagrant Story. Like the game but you can tell they had to cut a lot of content, and the gameplay improves till you get to like the last third where it just becomes more and more tedious.

As usual with Matsuno games, he always gets cucked halfway through.

I'm sure Melrose was supposed to be playable. Tieger and Neesa clearly had more planned for them.

Playable probably not, but as guest character, surely. It's pretty weird Sydney was the only character designed as guest when it's a common trope in his games. The gameplay was also way too elaborated for its actual use, a lot of FFT/Tactics ogre mechanics like elevation and hiding behind pillars against missiles and stuff never had any practical use in VS.
All in all it was way too ambitious for what Squaresoft allowed it to be.

You mean being an unfinished piece of garbage?
It's Square and it's also a FF game, so most probably it will live up to that.

Merlose, Tieger and Neesa were all supposed to be Ashley's party members at some point, Merlose would have been a party member in Lea Monde while Tieger and Neesa would have been around to accompany Ashley as he made his way back to the Graylands after killing Guildenstern.
But the game is a wildly unfinished shitshow and more of a tech demo than anything so of course none of that happens, they still left the monster taming mechanic in too so you can still kinda have party members in a way, but according to Matsuno you'd have some sort of proto gambit system to handle them, not like it would matter if they kept the chain system as npcs can't chain so that means they're automatically useless.

Isn't word on the street that like half the scenarios were scrapped?

Yeah Matsuno said so on twitter at some point I'm pretty sure.

Vagrant Story 2 on the PS2 about Ashley being the "vagrant" and dealing with the curse and wander the world looking for a cure would have been kino.

VS2 script was already written more than a decade ago. Some ideas got recycled to make Bozja in FFXIV. Sadly that's the best we'll get.

Oh yeah - I remember Matsuno saying his idea was centered around entering people's memories. Sounds like it would have been cool. I don't play MMOs so don't know anything aJD2K08bout FFXIV

He made some kino shit but most XIV players don't care for kino, sadly.

Will nu square ever make a game as good as Vagrant Story with the shitshow team they have now? Expectations have been low since the first trailer.

Should've just stuck with Ivalice forever. It was the ONLY good FF setting and still it's most recognizable one.

It seems more like a mix of diablo and a musou game. Nothing like VS.

I had high hopes for FFXVI considering who's writing, with the whole old Ivalice/heavensward team. But all they're showing is some admittedly cool combat but that's clearly not what I wanted to see.

Better be revealed to be Ivalice.
