Not because of any seal of quality or illusion of "mold-breaking" that Square has tricked themselves into believing. Its what people look at the most recent release of when they get an itch to play that genre.

FFXVI would had to have sold less than any of the many turn-based RPGs they still publish in the modern era for that to make any sort of financial sense. Since that's not the case, its relative failure is less likely the result of action combat than any other reason.
