Like being able to ride aliens on their backs, flying on them feels very similar as to when your ship takes off. Clever.

Unfortunately I think it's going to be very similar to No Man's Sky. Let's see how it goes. I will not have much expectations specially after seeing how much he oversold it at the Awards

Like Deus Ex where the "hero" is actually Paul, Manderley, Savage, Tong or Page (depending on your view). I'm okay with that because it makes for a better story that doesn't just become marvel superheros/mary sues when the player becomes the untouchable hero/chosen one that can do anything.

They've shown they have the tech to do not-completely-shit procedural generation. Limiting it to a single large planet instead of an entire galaxy should only improve things.
They've also shown capability to commit towards incredible post-launch support.
I'd say the game's gonna be a 6/10 at launch in 2025 or so with most of the complaints saying there's plenty to do but little reason to do anything, from there it'll improve with constant updates and by 2028 it will be widely considered to be an 8 or 9/10 and it's gonna win the "Best ongoing game" awards from 2027 to 2029.

Remember how shipped physical copies of NMS had the multiplayer lie going for so long that the Publisher/Manufacturer or the like had to cover the multiplayer label with a sticker? Remember the lie being maintained post launch even when it was distinctly called out? Good times.

Microsoft Flight Sim already has a massive world with multiplayer.
Dividing big multiplayer worlds into chunks seamlessly is already a thing that exists.

I agree NMS is boring as frick for me but there is clearly an audience for that kind of game

        Anonymous

Minecraft succeeds because it only pretends to be one of those kinds of games. Really people switch on creative mode and proceed to build elaborate shit which has always been the main pull for people. If they do switch on survival it's really only to do the same shit they would be doing in creative mode but with extra steps.

  28. 5 months ago

I really don’t have any hope for it being any more than what NMS is essentially now, aka just mindless base building/resource collecting with no actual objectives. Clearly a market for that but not what I want.

I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt to some level that they've maybe finally gotten their shit together especially after how well they've managed to support NMS over the years and how a lot of systems and features from NMS can likely be transplanted over to make things easier, but only time will really tell.
