It’s the obvious choice if they want sales but they seem to like making things harder for themselves every other system so they’ll probably go full hard mode and go with SwitchU
Super switch sounds like it's just a better version of the normal switch (like PS4 pro). It doesn't sound like it's actually a whole new system. This is why the Wii U failed
It's a new CEO, anything is possible as Iwata is still the one that greenlit the Switch. Actually seeing reports right now all over social media saying that it's coming out for $400 this year. If that ends up being true, $400 for a new Nintendo console is insane, it's never been that expensive before ever.
Inflation might be part of it but at that price point it's actually the same price as the digital PS5. That's definitely uncharacteristic of modern Nintendo, usually their products launch cheaper than the competition.
That's not to say that won't be a fair price point for whatever the device ends up being, but this is also the first time we've seen a Nintendo device be iterative since the Gamecube if the reports are true so it'll be interesting to see how things play out.
GBA only sold less because they all but rushed the DS to the market. It paid off but it's not like the GBA HAD to be killed. It could have reached the hundred with more time on the market.
3DS had issues beyond the name that Nintendo themselves recognized and took measures on. This goes infinite for the Wii U.
Switch 2 is as straightforward as it gets and if anything they've got no precedent for doing something as obvious as that.
>GBA
It sold amazingly well for a handheld that was in the market for 3 years before the successor was out. Keep in mind that the GBA was supposed to be released much earlier, but Nintendo held the entire project off because the original Game Boy was still doing so well. The result was a short lived system that was outdated at launch, yet still sold like hotcakes. >3DS
Bad priorities and design decisions all around. 3D was a stupid gimmick that increased the cost of the system too much and was tiresome to use, while the specs lagged behind what should be expected of a handheld by then, especially given the increased competition from smartphones. The game library also left much to be desired at launch. >Wii U
3DS, but exponentially worse. It's funny because if Nintendo dropped the moronic tablet and made a Wii HD 3 years earlier it would probably be very successful. By 2012 the Wii brand was like poison to the core market, and the casuals who bought Wii sports had fricked off never to return.
>imply call it Switch 2
the hardware upgrade will be so negligible that it won't deserve the number 2. It will most likely be Switch Pro but I would pay out of my own pocket for them to call it Switch U
Nintendo always fricks up, it will be the worst name imaginable with an tacked on shitty gimmick that will be dropped from priority dev support after 1 day
I don't think nintendo has ever had 2 successful console generations in a row since the snes. I'm really cautious to see what they're going to do after the switch
I don't think Nintendo has never named a console as a consecutive to another besides those old TV-Games consoles.
They always adds Super, Advance, New or something like that unless they change their entire approach like with the N64, Gamecube, Wii and Switch.
They'll probably add a new feature to the switch and name it around that.
I am now 100% convinced they are making a shitty switch 2 for tendies who are too stupid to just buy a handheld PC, then 3 or 4 years later they will release a VR headset which will be their risky bet on the future. Development will be split the way it always has been between low powered handheld and premium home console.
Gimmick obsessed Nintendo would just find a solution where the console slots into a makeshift headset for ghetto VR but I dont think they will do it the oldschool nintendo way.
>I am now 100% convinced they are making a shitty switch 2 for tendies who are too stupid to just buy a handheld PC
We already know Switch 2 will be stronger than any of those
yeah, you're probably right. but what are the chances they frick it up anyways and call it something completely different and moronic? i just figured brand recognition is better than USwitchWiiNew or whatever gobbledyasiatic they come up with
>it HAS to have a number!
The word "Super" adequately shows that it is not a regular switch. Even if it doesn't automatically explain that it is a new console, it already showcases that's better than the Switch.
A "U" does not explain jack shit, especially when you don't show the fricking console.
It’s the obvious choice if they want sales but they seem to like making things harder for themselves every other system so they’ll probably go full hard mode and go with SwitchU
they need to do something with it, so it could be Switch To, pretty nifty
for me it's 'super switch'
yes "Super Nintendo Switch™"
These.
Super switch sounds like it's just a better version of the normal switch (like PS4 pro). It doesn't sound like it's actually a whole new system. This is why the Wii U failed
they called their second console super nintendo/famicom and it worked
That was 30 years ago
>mfw I get my Super Switch
>’SS’ for short
>National Socialist themed stickers come out and prominent double ‘SS’ lightning bolts on the back
Shit will have the rizz.
>Nintendo POWER!
>Nintendo POWER!
>mfw I have no face
nintendo has never numbered their systems like that. I'd actually be a little surprised if they started now
It's a new CEO, anything is possible as Iwata is still the one that greenlit the Switch. Actually seeing reports right now all over social media saying that it's coming out for $400 this year. If that ends up being true, $400 for a new Nintendo console is insane, it's never been that expensive before ever.
If the 400 is true then it might just be an inflation thing. All the consoles have gotten progressively more expensive over time
Inflation might be part of it but at that price point it's actually the same price as the digital PS5.
Is either $400 or $450, I can't see it costing less than that.
$400 in 2023 is worth $275 in 2010 so it's just inflation.
I'm betting on New Switch.
GBA, 3DS and Wii U all sold less than their predecessors so they might avoid putting Switch in the name
GBA only sold less because they all but rushed the DS to the market. It paid off but it's not like the GBA HAD to be killed. It could have reached the hundred with more time on the market.

Exactly this. If anything all this encourages Switch 2
In addition to what others have said, with the rise of smartphones the 3DS had no chance to sell as much as the NDS no matter what.
Switch Now
>all digital no physical
Next.
keep trying and seething, eric.
no, because it's fricking boring.
>imply call it Switch 2
the hardware upgrade will be so negligible that it won't deserve the number 2. It will most likely be Switch Pro but I would pay out of my own pocket for them to call it Switch U
switch to what?
They're gonna call it Switcharoo
call it the Nintendo Switch advance
They should just skip to switch 5 because 5>2.
Only if it comes with 2 screens
Nintendo always fricks up, it will be the worst name imaginable with an tacked on shitty gimmick that will be dropped from priority dev support after 1 day
"New" Nintendo Switch
I don't think nintendo has ever had 2 successful console generations in a row since the snes. I'm really cautious to see what they're going to do after the switch
gameboy to gameboy advance to ds to 3ds to switch? All of these were succesful, they never lost a generation.
I don't think Nintendo has never named a console as a consecutive to another besides those old TV-Games consoles.
They always adds Super, Advance, New or something like that unless they change their entire approach like with the N64, Gamecube, Wii and Switch.
They'll probably add a new feature to the switch and name it around that.
the rumors have me concerned. if it's really just a $450 switch with ps4 level performance I'm not interested.
I am now 100% convinced they are making a shitty switch 2 for tendies who are too stupid to just buy a handheld PC, then 3 or 4 years later they will release a VR headset which will be their risky bet on the future. >I am now 100% convinced they are making a shitty switch 2 for tendies who are too stupid to just buy a handheld PC
We already know Switch 2 will be stronger than any of those
nobody with a brain wants a shitty handheld PC. people want a nintendo console with nintendo games, fricking idiot
>who are too stupid to just buy a handheld PC
so 95% of the general population
Yes, 95% of the general population are in fact dumb and buy shitty overpriced products made for cattle. This is not a controversial standpoint.
Try 400 with PS4 Pro level plus DLSS
sounds boring
why don't they just call it what everyone's been calling their consoles since day 1?
"The 'Bing Bing Wahoo'-Machine" is too long a name for writing.
nah, they will give it another name, they already tried it with the wii u and see how it went.
They're probably gonna name it something moronic like
>Super New Nintendo Switch 2 Deluxe Pro U
& Knuckles
Featuring Dante from Devil May Cry series
A Hideo Kojima Game
Nintendo Switch Wonder
I mean at least Nintendo stopped using the word "New" a while back
How about Transition?
they should legit just rebrand and call it the NES 2. nostalgia gays will cum in their pants
>change a brand that's on the running to become the best selling system in history to reference one that sold nearly 100 million less
Sounds smart
yeah, you're probably right. but what are the chances they frick it up anyways and call it something completely different and moronic? i just figured brand recognition is better than USwitchWiiNew or whatever gobbledyasiatic they come up with
I'm not buying any game unless it's forwards compatible with the Switch 3
>Nintendo Router™
because you take it with you on your routes
Nintendo 2Switch (N2S)
1985-2000: Cartridge Era.
2001-2016: Disc Era.
2017-2030: Card Era.
2031-20??: Streaming Era.

I don't even care for ninslop but I'd buy a SUPER Nintendo Switch just because it sounds cool
for me it's Swiitch
For me, it's (backwards 2)witch
As long as a mainline Pokemon launches, the name won't matter.
why don't they just call it Nintendo
