Credit where credit is due, the fan translation could be interperiting it differently. I'm claiming ignorence on this one. It's highly likley judging how childhood, innocence, and losing those traits as the world thrusts maturity on the protagonists are themes through the franchise that it's a theory worth entertaining, but I can't say more than that.

It's obvious they played the scene the way they did on purpose for the doubly suggestive themes of Ryuka being uncomfortable as he awakens to his power, but it's also pretty obvious to me that Ryuka didn't get sexually assaulted by Ionia either.

Mother 3 has a bunch of sensitive topics on top of like roughly an hour of straight up GBA renditions of copywritten music. Some of which are pair even paired with visuals complementing said song. Even outside of the story elements that can't be censored away like just slapping a pompom on the cultists, there's a bunch of music they would have to flat out replace and a bunch of work they would have to put in for a series that historically hasn't been worth it.

What, the only copyrighted song the game samples is the batman theme for half a second as a joke, Earthbound samples way, WAY more stuff from copyrighted music for its battle themes.

is the stuff that's actually in Mother 3 any worse than what's left in the US versions of Xenoblade and Fire Emblem? i feel like people overstate how objectionable Mother 3 is. the real reason why it's not getting an official release here is just because everyone who's not moronic has already played the fan translation, to the point where Smash Bros even uses terms from it now.
