People take Jap figureheads at face value as if it's not literally ingrained in their culture to save face. This was 100% because they wanted to use the cutscene budget for trailers and not a big expensive story mode.

platforming is what differentiates the series and genre from more standard fighting games and it appeals to the casuals because runnin an jumpan is fun, therefore World of Light was a stupid design choice and they should have improved upon adventure mode or SSE
running *and* jumping? but they removed jump momentum. platforming in Smash hasn't been enjoyable since Melee.
