>tumblr nose
nope
i wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt but if the writing for the game is anywhere near as bland as the description id refund it instantly. just not gonna bother.
Undertale's tumblr influence is much much worse, the pandering is what gave it its success after all
I haven't seen someone complain about tumblr noses in such a long time, it's nostalgic
It's probably just fresh in peoples' minds because of the new Monkey Island game.
no, too early for a rip off game to be successful

What the frick does castlevania have to do with anything? Goddamned zoomers, learn what the frick genre names have to do with anything before making shit up.
It's clearly poking fun at the unnecessity of "vania" in "metroidvania," midwit.
How is "vania" unnecessary in "metroidvania"?
The term doesn't even bother me, but the idea many people have argued is "Metroid" did the "platformer with areas gated by powerups" formula ages before Castlevania adopted it. The orignal Castlevanias, or "classicvania's" don't use this format, so they claim it should just be "Metroid-like."
It's asinine and the term is well cemented now in the public consciousness, so it's pointless to resist it. And if you were bored by this boring explanation, you also understand why normalgays do not care at all.
>"Metroid" did the "platformer with areas gated by powerups" formula ages before Castlevania adopted it
But this is true, SoTN just added stats and RPG mechanics. It's a minor twist on the formula, not a revolution. Many modern "Metroidvanias" don't even have loot or exp and yet they are still called that. The genre should be called Metroid-like or something entirely new.
I didn't argue "it wasn't true," I argued "it doesn't matter because people can't be bothered to deal with these facts."
If these games have ANYTHING in common:
>undertale
>monster girl quest
>earthbound
>touhou
I'll eat my fricking hat
They're all fun[/spoiler[.
they all have cute girls, yes that include Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne which you forgot to list.
now eat it and don't forget to post a pic with a timestamp
they all have a shitty fandom
You play as a human child in all of them.
>You play as a human child
h-hot.
Uhh Gankerros how do I beat the last one on the right? I always start by trying to talk things out but after that I get oneshot
I love how "you dodge shit" is all it takes to be considered a touhou clone, normalgays are so moronic
WTF
top tier bait
Your tryhard 2deep4u rpgmaker bound-like will NEVER come as close to replicating the original as this. This is the true spiritual successor, but you redditdrones will never know because you prefer "SUBVERSION OF EXPECTATIONS" bs. It will go unknown to the filthy masses, just like the original, only for one day for its true genius to be sung. If your boundlike is an instant ""success"", it means it will never capture the heart of the original. This is the true chosen one, but you are all regurgitating normies who would never know that.
not so fast mah homie
>Ganker threw a hissy fit over the ending of that game
Honestly quite incredible
qrd?
on the ending?
basically "everything took place in the mc mind while he in a coma and dying from le cancer"
isn't this a pretty obvious "twist" even at the beginning of the game?
I agree. I literally knew it from the name alone.
The dream part wasn't even a twist, the store page outright mentions it.
The cancer part is the actual twist.
the title of the game is literally "jimmy and the pulsating mass", is the fact that the protagonist has some sort of illness really a twist?
Yes if you somehow forget how cancer in general works.
It literally states in the game page that it takes place in the main character's dreams lmao. Not really trying to be a twist in that department.
Everytime I am reminded of this game and how I should give it a try, I remember it is 50+ hours long unironically and despite never touching it I doubt really hard it is worth that amount of investment. I just feel bad for the dev, for making a game so long, wasting so much time on a game that doesn't even that much an original premise in the current time, even if the execution might actually be better than other similar games.
It's a 10 hour game stretched out because it was made by one dude who barely knew anything about games design. At least Toby made a romhack before Undertale, and even then, Undertale is super short.
But how many people know One Shot compared to Undertale?
The game is really only 20-30 hours and it gets bumped up due to the side content. The game's combat is stellar for an rpgmaker game and story only really dragged in the city area. Its surprisingly well paced so adhd gays who can't handle long hauls btfo
Imagine if you will a quirky indie rpg with Undertale's battle mechanics, SMT's negotiation and demons, Touhou bullet patterns, Earthbound inspired humor, the main character is Alex Yiik and there's frickable monster girls (who rape you if you get a game over). The final boss is an allegory for depression and you can frick her as well
No, I will not imagine that.
Too bad I'm gonna explain how the game will work in detail
It's a dungeon crawler where you fight monster girls with the goal of fricking them and recruiting them into your harem (your party). It uses the Fight/Act system from Undertale, so you will be dodging bullets while trying to get laid. Unlike Undertale the bullet hell will not be restricted to a small box but will use more screen space and be a lot more difficult, similar to Touhou. The negotiations will all be unique and interesting like in SMT, some monster girls will frick you for money, others will demand money and then scam you by running away, some of them will be desperate to frick human men and you'll need to escape to conserve your Libido bar. You would also have the option to defeat monster girls in combat and rape them. After each fully animated epic sex scene you nut and it becomes a vertical scrolling danmaku game where you are playing as a sperm cell inside of the monster girl you just fricked. You have to survive and penetrate her as deeply as possible while avoiding microscopic enemies in her body. if you impregnate her she will join your harem. If you have a monster girl in your harem, she can join your party and provide special abilities during normal combat, for example if she loves swallowing cum she could swallow some of the bullets in front of you. You also get raped by the monster girls if you game over- there will be at least one dominant amazonian who will only join your harem if she gets to snu snu you.
The game would have several endings based on your sexual habits including
Rapist
Virgin
Ladies Man
True Rapist
and maybe one that can only be unlocked by feeding all of your cum to the starter monster girl and staying monogamous.
The cherry on top is that the main character says shit like "Well THAT just happened" every time he has sex
I love rape.
>true rapist
why did i laff
Had the same exact idea for a rapist route in a undertale esque hentai game. The gist being that you can defeat enemies regularly in combat to loot them while they're knocked out but using the equivalent of the act menu to do sexual acts on them while theyre knocked out will put you onto the rapist route
That's basically Black Souls.
Anon, you're sitting on an idea that will make you millions.
I hate MGQ's legacy in 2022 is apparently just being compared to Undertale.
MGQ's legacy is paradox part 3 never
I don't think undervania will ever be a thing unironically simply because undertale's combat is something of its own and not very effective as an actual rpg. The only game I have ever seen shamelessly ape it was everhood.
Everhood missed the entire point of Undertale entirely by forcing you to kill shit and make us act like we were supposed to care. What an actual mess of a game
Everhood is not a good game. Gameplay, story, characters and npcs, ost is also not my cup of tea. The game simply sucks. The ending where the developers request you to send an email writing about how the game made you feel is incredibly embarassing and should tell you enough about the lack of genuinity in just wanting to develop something they truly put their faith and care.
The npcs in particular piss me off. The only one i liked to an extent was green mage because he genuinely felt the most fleshed out. Even then it wasn't much. Dont even get me started on the dumbass twist with us being pink diamond the whole fricking time. I liked the message of accepting death and shit but it was executed horribly
The only thing I personally have to say that I liked about the game was the offensive mechanic introduced later on. A big flaw with undertale's gameplay is that rpgs aspects such as strategy, build and etc. becomes meaningless since they never weight as much as your shmup skills - that is why I have always wished that at least that could get a bit more complex or spiced up, by adding effects that could affect your player during those segments, like being able to attack back just like that, having a barrier by an item equiped, etc. but unfortunately it seems that Deltarune is also lacking in those aspects and in the opportunities, often using scripted battles to change things for a bit. It's the same problem that many indie rpgs also share, where they think the solution is putting rhythm music game mechanics instead of making a satisfying combat that allows exploring diverse combinations.
>The ending where the developers request you to send an email writing about how the game made you feel
that never happens
?t=5409
>1:30:08
..................
how is that embarassing?
And how I was lying? lol
that doesn't answer my question
The point of Everhood is that it's literally the anti-Undertale you fricking moron
And it did a piss poor job at it
Everhood is such a rotting mass of garbage. It's not even so bad it's good. One of the few times I genuinely felt like my time was wasted just by the act of playing it
This is some high-quality bait. I almost went on a tangent about how Toby ripped MGQ off wholesale and probably played it.
how did they manage to make it worse looking than undertale and earthbound
because both of those games are stylized. the one in op is just shitty, amateur pixel art.
Why does "glitching" attracts so many sperg kids?
analog horror
>NPC: OH MY GOD I'M GLITCHING OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT (C:)/users/(yourusername) HELP MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>Zoomers think this is the pinnacle of storytelling
Unironically I love it and I am tired of pretending I dont
>the developer of Glitched is an unironic fan of YIIK
Based?
YIIK is a masterpiece in it's own rite
I can only assume that they spoiled the twist because the game has nothing else going for it.
I don't think it's supposed to be a twist.
yeah it sounds like it's literally the premise
>Glitched is still not out after getting crowdfunded in 2016
>Omori began development in 2014 and was only released in 2020
>YIIK began development in 2013 and was only released in 2019
What's up with Earthbound-likes and suffering from development hell?
All the creative juices are blown on the big all-encompasing "twist" then they realize they have to make a game and a story around it.

same hipster bullshit
Blue album and Pinkerton are still goddamn fantastic. Get the frick out of here
People, I dont know how to explain this but I like ''earthbound-like'' games like Undertale,OFF, Lisa, Hylics, Omori, Yume Nikki, doe I started to get sick of the tropes of ''its about depression'' Omori was the final drop for me as it is de facto in my op just 20hours of filer with a twist at the end I like the characters doe they could never be developed because of games shifting from dream to IRL world, and it just has fujoshi bait (I know the dev is a fujoshi) , it was a good game that showed the cracks of it's sub-category of earthbound-likes (everyone wants to be the next Undertale by just adding filer over it) and the fandoms around those games are cancer of over-socialized fatherless teens,
>''earthbound-like'' games like Undertale,OFF
stopped reading there
Which one has a anthro character whos fanart bait?
i like the premise.
it reminds me of pic related witch was great.
i can look past the "tumblr" artstyle if the writing and gameplay are solid.
this shit was being made like five years ago, it's never coming out
people said that about Omori too
I know it isn't really related to this thread, but does anyone else here really hate Black folk? And I don't just mean black Black folk, but every other type of Black person as well? South American Black folk, European Black folk, and especially North American Black folk. I personally hate them all, and I was wondering if any of you guys hated Black folk too. Feel free to respond to my post if you hate Black folk. Thank you!
all americans are Black folk
Calm down Toby they aren't in the room with us right now
Black folk are the bad guys
>"What if we carbon copy Earthbound/Mother and then just sell nostalgia with our shitty game that has none of the creativity?"
Brilliant! Why dont you come over the house real soon and frick my wife?
troony game tbh
The meta stuff in Undertale is diegetic, an even then it's a relatively minor part of the plot.
It's not a "WOOOOOAAAAHHHH we're actually in a game, isn't that CRAZY?!?!?!11?" kind of game.
Literally nobody would care about Undertale without the fourth wall breaking.
Maybe.
Doesn't change the fact it's a minor part of the game.
no and undertale sucks
Only half true
>reddit pic
>My personality is I hate what others like!
>earthbound knockoff
>leftist art style
These quirky games will never get it right. Only Oneshot got the fourth wall meta shit right. Undertale didn't really do it for me, but it seems like Deltarune may. I really dig the stuff in Deltarune so far
Yeah, Oneshot does it pretty well. A shame I found the rest of the game to be very bland.
If all it took was some meta element to be the next "Undertale," we'd have a lot more Undertales already.
Nah with gimmicky shit like Undertale the most important thing is being first, look at Pokemon being the literal worst monster catching/raising franchise but still the reigning champ just because it was first
Undertale was not the first to do a single thing.
>quirky RPG about a child but goes crazy places
Earthbound did it
>Minigames about dodging simple shit
Warioware did it
>Sparing monsters
Iji did it
>meta commentary
A billion games did this
>cute characters but heavy story where characters can die
Cave Story did it (and Undertale even took its name)
With Pokemon, it hasn't been outdone just because of the difficulty of creating a whole menagerie of animals people actually like, and core game mechanics that are fun. You'd have a better point with that one if there was another monster sim that did it objectively better in both those areas.
I think smt was first
>Nah. We're good.
I hate Americans so much.
No.
Undertale was a hit that more/less came out of nowhere, managed to reach the right people at the right time, had enough gimmicks to keep people entertained and "paths" to keep people playing, and the cute aesthetic and simple story (with le dark edgy thrown in) made sure normies could keep up.
Deltarune already surpassed Undertale in a majority of those areas, and it gave us canon submissive mindbreak of a lesbian.
Toby is slipping in his fetishes.
What was this thread about again?
Deltarune being better but not having a fraction of the popularity really highlights how lucky Undertale got
Good luck getting popular with that name. Every google or youtube search will just give you other shit. Gotta be early with the generic names like Doom or OFF or not at all.
This. Really bad idea to make even finding your game a chore. Even googling "Glitched game" might not work so hot.
It feels like this is a game a hipster would make
Oh hey it's the dead space game
>dead space
wut
I think he means "dead game what is set in space"
>It's another earthbound inspired post-ironic rpg made by a mentally ill NEET moron that has all the time in the world thanks to living with his parents in his late 20s and probably has roots to the homestuck "community" which is the reason his project has any notoriety at all
>check out steam page
So it's made by a homosexual and/or troony, right? The 600000 words claim and this gay art is raising some redflags.
the dev seems like a normal dude
Hahahahaha Ganker are filled with a bunch of fricking losers. Not referring to you but to the other morons but get married and get your shit together before talking shit on the Internet. Get a life dorks.

Well, I wasn't expecting that.
>black chick with septum ring
>kills your hopes for an actual Mother fangame (no earthbound-like bullshit)
is Earthbound-like just the new term for "game that is or looks that it was made in RPG Maker or GameMaker"
i saw Yume Nikki get called an Earthbound-like
It means "indie game that's about depression or something idk I only read some headlines of articles about it"
sounds right
more like "game that looks like an RPG made for people that hate RPGs"
trash
No there's not enough furry shit or depressed mental illness shit
Or whatever the frick homestuck was
I really didn't care about the demo that much nor the main concept honestly...To be fair, I have seen 4th wall breaking so much to the point I am just unimpressed every time it happens. At least I give it some respect for actually being upfront about it instead ot making it a twist or surprise like it is in undertale.
Based on the description, this game sounds way more like One Shot than Undertale.
Nah. We're good.
>the next Undertale
Why would anyone want to be that?
>That backwards red hat
>Those pixel-dot eyes
>Party follows behind you

I'm so tired of the same shit.
I think it is funny how there are actually NO earthbound inspired rpgs but those dont get talked about as much, such as long gone days.
it's funny how the people who parrot this meme are always unable to name more than, like, 5 Earthbound-inspired RPGs.
>metroidvania still makes people seethe
The autists who insist only tabletop games can be called RPGs take the cake though.
Thank god mother 4/oddity is coming so people still stuck in 2017 can finally give undertale and deltarune a break and move on.
>mother 4/oddity is coming
It is????
How this game got "popular" or know enough around here? Genuine question, if anyone knows. Did any e-celeb played it?
it was in the steam next fest
