Does this game have any good mods? Especially one that lets you set the resolution to 1920x1080.

I played it for the first time last year and trying to get it in 1920x1080 was like pulling teeth, but I did it somehow. Overall it's old, outdated, and the combat is terrible.

      >This was peak WRPG
What? No. This is a terrible game. Its one of the worst RPGs ever made and people just like it because of star wars. This goes for the sequel as well. I can't imagine an "RPG" with worse mechanics, worse encounters, worse maps, or less impactful choices.

      actually nevermind

        >I can't imagine an "RPG" with worse mechanics, worse encounters, worse maps, or less impactful choices.
There are tons of WRPGs with less choices than KOTOR. You're just being disingenuous to try and be contrarian.

          >There are tons of WRPGs with less choices than KOTOR
There isn't a single choice in KOTOR that isn't made through dialogue, which, to me, equates to having no choices at all.

What was so bad about it exactly? Never played it but heard only good things about it.
          [...]
          >And plenty of JRPGs you won't acknowledge.
          Such as?

          >What was so bad about it exactly?
The combat is so braindead you can basically just queue up the same ability 5 times and go make a sandwich. Most maps are either long featureless hallways or big empty circles. Reactivity is poor, you can basically rob people right in front of them and they'll do nothing for example. Maps are generally linear theme parks, and no, being able to choose them in a non-linear order does not change that. Itemization is shitty, skills are one note, its rtwp, the writing is annoying, etc.

Its basically just a NWN module, a lot of games from this era are. And NWN is dogshit.

Thanks for confirming what I said. Why are WRPGs fans like this?
            >the game isn't an RPG because it lacks choices!
            >okay, it does have choices, but not the right KIND of choices
Your favorite WRPG isn't a true RPG either. Because all video based RPGs have set choices. They're not as free as PnP RPGs that let you use your imagination. So all these dumb arguments come down to "well, my favorite RPG lets me alter 2% of the game where yours only lets you alter 1%!"

That's a shame, I was going to catch up with some classical RPGs and it was on my list too. Which RPGs would you recommend then? I personally liked F1/F2/DX the most.

Pool of radiance, Kyrnn, Wizardry 7, Might and Magic 6, Ultima 5

Those are modern RPGs, not classic. Everything from Fallout 1 onwards is modern in its design.

i dont really like jrpgs but ive been loving Trails to Azure recently. it has a pretty slow start but once the story kicks up it's great. the combat is like a hybrid between tactical and standard, which i love. plus it has tons of qol features like a fast forward option for combat, dialogue, and moving around the world.

    >tfw Revan poisonpills all future generations of Sith into the Rule of Two even though such a philosophy would inevitably destroy them
If Bane wasn't such a moron and knew his history, he'd have realized Revan was a 900IQ gigabrained chessmaster that clearly didn't practice what he preached, and ultimately he was only using the Sith and didn't give a frick about them or their ideology. Imagine being outwitted by a guy who's been dead for 3,000 years.

      Anonymous

Can you really claim that the rule of two was a bad move when it pretty much lead them to no only destroy the Jedi order but also conquer the galaxy?

        Anonymous

Not him, but it also led to their downfall on numeroous occasions. They lost both their galactic empires because the reigning emperor was killed by his apprentice. And even the originator of the rule of two lost his smaller empire because of this.

But this is also EU stuff. In "canon" terms, it was just a weak one liner from Lucas to set up Darth Vader. And the EU writers bent over backwards to make it work. And even then, Lucas himself broke his own rule by having Darth Maul and Count Dooku.

          Anonymous

I guess you're right? Honestly, those sound more like logistical problems than something inherent to the rule of two, but I'm really not the most knowledgeable on the subject.
Really, the bottom line is that the Sith would have been destroyed, no matter what type of organization they followed, as it is in their nature to screw each other over.

            Anonymous

            >Really, the bottom line is that the Sith would have been destroyed, no matter what type of organization they followed, as it is in their nature to screw each other over.
Yeah, that's the point I was trying to make, in nerdy "achtually" kind of way.

        Anonymous

Yes, because it's self-destructive even more than having many Sith. Because not only is there the threat of the Sith potentially being totally wiped out, but also it's contradictory to the Dark Side - That is it seeks a sort of peace and balance, minimizing conflict.

In fact destroying the Jedi and conquering the galaxy is itself anti-Sith. Because if you destroy all your enemies and gain everything you want, there's no conflict or ambition left to sharpen you. This is why Palpatine just became a complacent absentee ruler for twenty years, once he had everything he couldn't do anything with it.

The best situation for the Sith is a forever-war where they're constantly fighting the Jedi, Republic, and each other. Because in reality that struggle isn't a means to an end, it's the end-in-itself. Strife consuming itself again and again and being reborn forever.

The idea of producing a Sith'ari, a perfect all-powerful being, is a poisonous concept because evolution isn't a straight line with one destination, it continues forever.
